Delete entire QTreeWidget tree - qt

Im working in a GUI project that is using QTreeWidget. The program parses through an XML and creates a tree to be displayed using the QTreeWidget.
I found a bug in the code, where if the user changes to a new selection, then back to the one they were just on, it re-parses the XML as it should, but the previous tree that was created is not being destroyed first.
The new tree is simply appended onto the old tree and then it is now displaying duplicates of everything. If you continue to change views and back again it will keep appending onto the tree n number of times.
I have tried using TreeWidget->clear(), but this looks like it only clears what is being displayed and is not actually deleting the tree itself.
I have seen examples on line of people talking about using
delete topLevelItem()
but i have not been able to make this work either.
Is there anyone out there who knows a proper way to delete and entire tree from a QTreeWidget?
Thanks.

After an hour or so of searching through the code i found the problem.
The original developer was storing the parsed XML inside a QStringList and the list was never getting cleared.
It was a simple as putting a list.clear() at the beginning of the function call...

Adobe CQ: Make two <cq:include> with same path editable

I have two "cq:include" in same jsp with same path and I need to make both of them editable. But currently only one of them is editable.
If I change anything in one component that shows on second. But the second one itself is not editable. My requirement is to make both the components editable while keeping the include path same.
Code:
<cq:include path ="abc" resourceType="xyz"/>
<cq:include path ="abc" resourceType="xyz"/> # This one is not editable.
Having two components with the same resource type would create only a single node at the given path. Hence, any change you make in one of the component would be reflecting in both of them, as both the components would be reading from the same node.
This is also the reason for not being able to edit the second component. Try providing different paths for different components like shown below.
<cq:include path="abc" resourceType="xyz" />
<cq:include path="abc_0" resourceType="xyz" />

The way the authoring system works it hooks per location so if you want to have it authored in two different places those two different places should NOT be on the same page. This is just good usability as it can be very confusing.
INSTEAD, I suggest the first one on the page add an attribute to the slingRequest noting that it has been placed on the page and future instances with the same path put a message on the screen saying that it is edited elsewhere. Without knowing more details it's hard to suggest the best usability for this scenario.
Update:
If you MUST do this, here is a work around.
Step 1: define a convention for naming 2 properties. e.g. realTitle (String) and realTitleLastUpdated (date/time). These will be page-level properties, making it easy to access and check them using pageProperties. Though you can do this through a subnode as well but that gets more complicated.
Step 2: For the components that must all be simulateously editable, allow them to create their own nodes. Then, on load in the EDIT environment, check the property realTitle and the lastUpdated time stored in realTitleLastUpdated
If the last edit of your component's title, e.g. jcr:lastModified is newer than realTitleLastUpdated, change the local value of title (e.g. jcr:title) to the value of the realTitle property and update the realTitleLastUpdated time to reflect the time in jcr:lastModified on your component.
If the opposite is true - realTitleLastUpdated is of a time newer than the last modification of the local component, then update the jcr:title of the component and the times to match.
Obviously if the last update times match, do nothing.
It's a bit of a run around, but this will keep everything in sync.
I realized that you may not realize that you probably need to save the state. I believe you can do this (among other ways) using resource.getResourceResolver().adaptTo(Session.class).save()
I've done this before but it's been a while. Let me know if you have issues, I'm working from memory.
Well, if you don't want author to bother about editing both the components, then you should use javascript/jquery and onChange() of one of the component, modify the value of another component as well.

Learning Qt: Which methodology to be used for this "advanced UI"?

I am learning Qt5 using PyQt.
My goal is to create a UI with several goals (I will base my need on the screenshot below).
So here are my goals:
My need
Add directories to a list of directories to be scanned (I know how to use QFileDialog.getExistingDirectory for that). For this I'd like to have a "+" button.
When pressed the QFileDialog would open and a new row would be added.
Then I would scan the directory to look for files. It won't be my first implementation but I'd like to have a circular progress bar being displayed during the scan (at the place of the classic progress bar).
When the scan is done, the UI would display the number of files found during the scan. And the progress bar would be replaced by a tick mark icon (not shown on the screenshot...).
At the beginning of each row, I'd like to have a "-" button to delete the row.
My goal is to learn
This is important, I know I am not the first one to have the idea of such a UI.
So I not looking for a third party lib on top of Qt.
My goal is to learn Qt5 (with PyQt) with this example.
But if its unrealistic, please tell me!
My knowledge
Mode View: I implemented some basic model view widgets to display strings, and I understand how to extend the idea to tables or trees.
In this case the number of rows in the table would be handled automatically.
But is it possible to created a table that would display not only strings but also widgets?
Widget Mapper: I read that another methodology is the QDataWidgetMapper. In this case, I would have to deal with creation of news rows by myself, and then I would map data onto them.
But it seems to be a hard and long job.
So, is it a good idea?
So finally could someone tell what is the best direction for that?
I am not looking for code, but since it takes a lots of time to learn new concepts, I'd like to learn and use the correct one before starting coding.
Thank you for your help :)!
After so more searches, I found that I need to use the delegate methodology.
In Qt5 it's QStyledItemDelegate and in Qt4 it's QItemDelegate.
I could find a nice tutorial at the moment, but I started coded it.

Referencing between CodeDomObjects and Text

I am writing a CodeGenerator. The string output is later on mixed with user code.
In order to be able to make changes to my generated code after the user edits the file, I have to make sure my generated parts are not editable.
I am currently not sure how to achieve this behaviour..
If I would be able to track which line correlates to which CodeDomObject and vice versa I could tell my TextEditor to mark Lines as read only.
But at this Point I have two problems.
I don't know how to keep track.
I am not sure if my solution ( which I am not able to implement... ) is
clean. There would be a lot of overhead, because I have to find out
which object is generated and which not. I could do so by comparing a
generated CodeDomTree with the actual Tree and marking the diffs as
UserObjects.
I don't know if this solution is practical in your environment but this is handled using partial classes where required in Visual Studio.
An example would be Windows Forms where the visual designer is responsible for creating source code to reproduce the form at runtime but the developer is expected to add event handling code to the class.
By having the developer's code in a separate source file it doesn't get overwritten when changes are made in the designer.
Of course, this won't help you if you need to have a single source file for your class.

Drupal WebForms Data Structure Reference?

I am relatively new to Drupal. We have a site and I've been asked to jump in and make some changes. I'm working on customizing the output of the Webforms module. I'm having trouble doing so because I can't seem to find a reference to the various data structures Webforms uses.
For example, I need to change something in a preprocess hook. Passed into the hook is a structure called $variables. I can see that attributes are being added to the piece I want to change, so I know I'm in the right hook. What I want to do is add something to the text. But I can't figure out where in $variables the text is so I can change it.
I'm sure what I need to change is in there, but I can't seem to get at it. All the documentation I've found on the web is either "paste this code in" or assumes you know the data structures.
So:
1. Is there a reference anywhere to these structures? $variables is one. $submission, $components are others. There are probably more. I know their contents vary widely with the specific webform, but looking for a general reference.
2. How can I see the contents of one of the structures from inside a hook? I've tried a lot of things, but no luck. Would be great to either have it output to the Apache log, or show up on the screen, something...
Any help would be greatly appreciated. It feels like there's real power here, but I can't get at it because I'm missing some basics.
I would say you need to install 2 modules to figure out what is going on...
First Devel, allowing you to use the dmp function. This will output a whole array to the message area.
And then my new favorite module, Search Krumo.
A webform is generated from large array of data and finding the bit that is relevant to you can often be difficult just looking though the dmp output. Search Krumo puts a search box in the message area allowing you to search for any instances of a string in the whole array structure. When you've found the bit that is relevant it also lets you copy the path to that array element so you can easily modify values buried deep in multi-arrays.
EDIT:
If you don't want the output on the screen but would rather log it then use Devel Debug Log. Very useful for debugging ajax requests etc.
If you just need to log simple strings not whole arrays then the dd function is useful combined with: tail -f /tmp/drupal_debug.txt assuming you have SSH access.

Using one data source for multiple datagrids in Flex3

I want to use one data source (e.g. an Array) for multiple Datagrids that have different filterFunctions attached and show different columns.
First, I thought I use a very straight forward apporach:
create the Array
create an ArrayCollection for every DataGrid and set the "source" property to the Array
create the DataGrids and set their dataProvider property to its designated ArrayCollection
So now. every ArrayCollection can have its own filterFunction, sort state etc. but there needs to be only one Array with all the data in memory.
Now to the point that totally confused me:
As new items are added to the Array, of course no Events are dispatched and I have to call itemUpdated manually on each of the ArrayCollections. While debugging into the code in order to get a deeper understanding for Flex, I tried to figure out, what this misterious "itemUpdated" method does, especially as it notes in the adobe documentation, that, if no "property" is given (e.g. it is null), a simple "refresh()" will occur.
I did not find any calls to "refresh()" in the whole debugging (and I went down the framework whole as deep as possible (btw: lots of funny comments right in the code :-) )).
The only thing I could find was a CollectionChangeEvent getting dispatched with a PropertyChangeEvent in its "item" property. Which was of the kind "UPDATE" (and not, as I would expect "ADD"). When trying to dispatch that event manually, it never worked (e.g. the datagrid did not update).
I know I have to stick with itemUpdated for the moment, but as the dataprovider can get big (in both dimensions), performance does concern me and I wnat to understand what is going on under the hood.
And as expected, no help from adobe :-(
So a big thanks for everyone who read this whole text.
And an even bigger THANKS to anyone who answers and gives me the slightes hint in how I can get out of the confusion and understand (if thats possible at all) Fles a little better.
finest of all regards,
herbert
You have to call ArrayCollection.refresh() for each of your dataProviders to get the dataGrids to show the new changes to the source array.
