This recently began to appear whenever I restart my RStudio Server session:
Error in tools:::httpdPort > 0 :
comparison (6) is possible only for atomic and list types
It does not seem to relate to running any code (all I do to reproduce it is to go to the Session menu and then click "Restart R"). It appears that we are running version 0.97.551.
What is this error and how can we resolve it?
This has been fixed. Try updating everything to the latest version.

What does "Error in tools:::httpdPort <= 0L : ...." in Rstudio means?

Some context on my environment:
I am running R Studio in a docker container called rocker/verse.
I downloaded this dataset from Kaggle, which has about 470 MB.
When working with it, at some point RStudio restart. It does't happen after a specific call, and I've seen the same problem when working with other projects. Though it is not related to my code, I am posting it bellow.
library(data.table)
fraud<- fread("path.csv")
fraud1<- sort(sample(nrow(fraud), nrow(fraud)*.7))
train<- fraud[fraud1, ]
test<-fraud[-fraud1, ]
Usually on the console this message is printed:
Error: Error occurred during transmission
And, this pop up is also showed:
I have no idea what is causing it. I would appreciate any help.
Delete the .Rhistory files associated with the installation and any open project.
You have a problem with your user data files for Rstudio. Follow the hints given here: https://community.rstudio.com/t/rstudio-server-error-occurred-during-transmission/84258 and here: https://support.rstudio.com/hc/en-us/articles/218730228-Resetting-a-user-s-state-on-RStudio-Server.
I am using Eclipse 2018-09 and StatET 3.6.1. I have two R environments: one for R 3.3.2, another for R 3.5.1. When I execute a command like ?lm to call up a help page in v3.3.2, the page appears in the StatET "R Help" pane, as I want it to. But when I execute the same command to call up a help page in v3.5.1, the console tells me "starting httpd help server," and the help page loads in my browser. How can I get help to load in the "R Help" pane when using v3.5.1?
The problem arises whether or not I run Eclipse as an administrator, and whether or not I "Auto Run" R 3.5.1 upon booting. And as far as I can tell, the configurations for the two versions of R are nearly identical:
Both are running Windows 10 and JRE 1.8.0_121.
Both with version 2.1 of the rj package.
For both, I've checked every box in "Run Configurations > R Console > R Console > Eclipse Integration," including "Enable R Help for StatET."
For both, options("help_type") == 'html'.
Inspection of the different log files that I get when using Auto Run with the two versions of R suggests that there is some sort of StatET config problem that has to do with Derby. These messages appear only when I boot R 3.5.1:
!ENTRY de.walware.statet.r.core 4 -1 2018-11-16 02:50:29.092
!MESSAGE An error occurred when initializing DB for model.
!STACK 1
org.eclipse.core.runtime.CoreException: An error occurred when loading embedded DB (Derby + DBCP)

Caused by: ERROR XSDB6: Another instance of Derby may have already booted the database C:\[path redacted]\eclipse-workspace\.metadata\.plugins\de.walware.statet.r.core\db.
But I don't know what to make of this problem or how to fix it.
Stephan Wahlbrink, the creator of StatET, recommended running this command at startup:
registerS3method("print", "help_files_with_topic", rj::print.help_files_with_topic)
I ran the command, and it solved the problem.
(Stephan added that the Derby errors that I saw in the logs were unrelated to the problem of displaying help in the "R Help" pane.)
Upon startup in RStudio. Before doing anything I get the following error display on the console window:
Error: STRING_ELT() can only be applied to a 'character vector', not a 'raw'
I'm working on a Windows 10 OS R version 3.2.2
How can I get rid of the message? How can I identify where the source of where this error is coming from? I'm thinking it may have something to do with a previous session but I'm having trouble identifying the pattern for why this error occurs.
In RStudio I went to Session - Clear Workspace
Then I went to Session - Terminate R
Then I went to Session - Restart R
Then I closed the program and restarted it. Some how that fixed the issue.
I had a similar error. In my case, the default Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\R-core\R64\Current Version regkey was pointing to some ancient 2015 version of a Microsoft Revolution Analytics version of R. Not sure how that happened, but I updated it to point to the latest version of R in C:\Program Files\R\R-4.1.2 and all was well.
YMMV
i=14
l=8
if(i>l){q()}
print(i)
print(l)
above code is what I simplfied and when I run code above, it ends up with " R session aborted. R encountered a fatal error"
pls advise me way to avoid this error
Calling q() inside an if block from a script in the editor pane of RStudio crashes my RStudio in a similar manner, with a fatal error dialog box. I suspect this is an RStudio bug and should be reported if it recurs with the latest RStudio.
Just putting q() in a script not in an if block quits RStudio as expected, without error messages.
The correct way to terminate a script without killing R in any way is to use stop("why").
if(1>0)stop("am stopping")
print("No")
I've tried to run command in R 2.15.2
rsaga.geoprocessor(lib="ta_channels", module=0, param=list(ELEVATION="DEMflt.sgrd", CHNLNTWRK=paste("channels", i, ".sgrd", sep=""), CHNLROUTE="channel_route.sgrd", SHAPES="channels.shp", INIT_GRID="DEMflt.sgrd", DIV_CELLS=3, MINLEN=40), show.output.on.console=FALSE)
and I'm constantly getting this warning:
Warning message:
running command '"C:/Users/Nenad/Documents/R/win-library/2.15/RSAGA/SAGA-GIS/saga_cmd.exe" ta_preprocessor 2 -DEM "DEM1.sgrd" -RESULT "DEMflt.sgrd" -MINSLOPE "0.05"' had status 1
I use windows 8 and also tried to ran R as admin.
Any idea what is the problem? Thanks!
Idk how actual it is, but I've been struggling with "had status 1" warning a lot. Especially it got really annoying when I tried to use seasonal package to conduct the X13-ARIMA-SEATS seasonal decomposition of time series. The seasonal::seas command just didn't work, because in the code of this command there is a stop condition when running a certain stuff with cmd.exe returns non-zero status. While, as it was mentioned before, 'status 1' doesn't prevent command execution, in case of seasonal package it does.
The problem in my case was caused by some mistake in Windows Registry (Win 10), that in turn caused warning System cannot find the path specified when launching CMD.exe or PowerShell, which caused warning inside R as well. So to fix it:
Press Win+R -> regedit
In HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Command Processor folder clean the value of Autorun record (it should be empty)
Do the same for Autorun in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Command Processor
After these actions annoying warning with "has status 1" has gone and seasonal::seas started to work perfectly.
Hope it will be usefull for somebody.
Running system commands from R can be really tricky. In my experience, as long as the exit code is not 127 then the command did run, and you could use the intern=TRUE switch in the system command for a more verbose output. If you run the command again, the warning message could contain a errmsg attribute as well for some more info. hth
