I have a website in Drupal and I wants same look of twitter widget as in https://www.stanford.edu/ .
There is a module also available in Drupal for Twitter i.e "Drupal feed".
https://www.stanford.edu/ site is mentioned in this module also.
So please help me out so that i can get same look..
Thanks in Advance..
Note : The code i am using is given below.
<a class="twitter-timeline" href="https://twitter.com/tweettestwidget" data-widget-id="603417854055034880" data-chrome="noheader nofooter noborders transparent" data-tweet-limit="1" data-conversation="none">Tweets by #tweettestwidget</a><script>!function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0],p=/^http:/.test(d.location)?'http':'https';if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src=p+"://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js";fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document,"script","twitter-wjs");</script>
I used the Twitter module to create a similar twitter feed.
https://www.drupal.org/project/twitter
You can see the feed I created here http://gekkos.com
You can then display the Twitter feed using a View. Then use Views templates to style the output.
E.g. My Views template file was views-view-fields-tweets--block.tpl.php
<div class="tweet">
<p><a target="_blank" href="https://twitter.com/<?php print $fields['screen_name']->content;?>"><?php print $fields['screen_name']->content;?></a> <?php print $fields['text']->content;?> - <em><?php print $fields['created_time']->content;?></em></p>
Then just style the output using CSS.

I am frankly new to wordpress but programm in PHP.
Task:
I have a form (don't wanna use a form plugin) and want to include this form on either 1. Sidebar or 2. within content of any Page except one (Contact-page).
I want to programm the Widget, Shortcode or Plugin bymyself. I don't need a tutorial how to programm this.
Question:
What do you advise me to use: a shortcode, plugin, widget or a "hack" in the template (f.e. if ($page!=="contact"){...}
The answer should consider
Ease and flexibility of use
Short time to develop
Speed of Rendering
Thanks for advise of experienced Wordpress Users/Developpers.
PS: the form is very simple maybe there is even another fast way you know how to do this.
Try This
1)first to fall you make a page templates of contact page.(make copy of page.php than only change the name of templates)
2)than that template in you make your custom form.
3)that page template you apply in your contact page.
Make a template-myForm.php file, and populate it with following:
<?php
/**
* Template for displaying search forms for My Web Site
*
*/
?>
<form role="search" method="get" class="search-form" action="<?php echo home_url( '/' ); ?>">
<!-- your form content-->
</form>
Add to site <?php get_template_part( 'template', 'myForm' ); ?> where you want a custom search form. I used it for search form, so it was easy to make it into widget also. I used separate template file for site search, and searcform.php for search widget. If you are aiming at different kind of form tag, you have to create that a Widget.
It is a class Your_Widget extends WP_Widget, which for you can find tutorials on your own, or just check out PHP code file: wp-includes/class-wp-widget.php in your Wordpress copy and extend it. Me personally use tutorials. I find it more simple.
So, to summ up, you would have two copies of your form - one to show as a template part, and an another one for sidebar or other registered widget area. If it is identicall in both versions, using this solution you would have to remember to keep changing it in two places (which is again simpler than hard-coding).
For me beeing not a native English speaker and just a part time Wordpress coder, this is what I offer. More integrated and PHP-programming-friendly solution, find in Wordpress forums, here on stackoverflow and Wordpress.org site.
I also am aware this is not exactly what you are looking for - not using shortcode. I hope this will kick you off into Wordpress world, and you will find how to offer a custom form to your users!
Good luck!
Hello Im using a social share plugin. It works correctly but the share counts are not showing. can somebody help me find the problem of this plugin? you can download the plugin documents at https://wordpress.org/plugins/responsive-social-share/
Thank you
This plugin can not support counting so for counting you can follow below steps.
Please save and add this js file into your theme folder and call it into header or footer.
http://w.sharethis.com/button/buttons.js
After that add you social icon like this.
<span class='st_sharethis_hcount' displayText='ShareThis'></span>
<span class='st_fblike_hcount' displayText='Facebook Like'></span>
<span class='st_googleplus_hcount' displayText='Google +'></span>
<span class='st_twitter_hcount' displayText='Tweet'></span>
also you can change button style as par your requirement. for more please visit below link.

I would like to add a share link from my wordpress website to tweeter.
I found how to do it but, I would like to remove the twitter logo and add a simple text link.
So I removed the twitter class "twitter-share-button" but I can't retrieve informations into the twitter textbox...
Here is my code:
<a href="https://twitter.com/share" data-url="<?php the_permalink(); ?>" data-text="<?php the_title(); ?>" data-hashtags="hashtag" >THIS_TEXT_THAT_I_WANT_TO_DISPLAY and add all data content to the twitter text area</a>
<script>
!function(d,s,id){
var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];if(!d.getElementById(id)){
js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js";
fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}
(document,"script","twitter-wjs");
</script>
Thanks
You can build your own Twitter share URL. You don't need to include any javascript or the Twitter SDK, it's just an HTML link. More info on building your own at https://dev.twitter.com/docs/tweet-button, just scroll all the way to the bottom of the page. Try something like this for yourmarkup:
Tweet this
There are a lot of things you can pass into the url, so you can tweak this to get the result you're looking for.
Here is the result code:
Tweet this
I'm working on a website with twitter share option for each specific product.
I followed twitter API instructions for tweet-sharing, and everything works fine except custom display of text. For example I want user to tweet like this:
"What do you think? Should I buy this? http://url.etc #mywebsite"
but all I get when user tweets is the link:
http://url.etc
This is the code:
<script type="text/javascript" src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js"></script>
<a target="_blank" href="https://twitter.com/share" data-url="http://bit.ly/twitter-api-announce" data-via="testtest" data-text="What do you think? Should I buy this? " data-count="none" data-counturl="http://groups.google.com/group/twitter-api-announce" >TWITTER</a>
The problems seems to be with data-text option.
Any experience on this? Ideas?
Thanks
On Wordpress I just used Tweet
Works like a charm!
simply use a link like :
tweet
Just change what is between [] (and remove them)
note that everything have to be RFC (with weird chars such as 'space' replaced by %20 etc.)
twitter propose a nice page to make the buttons
https://about.twitter.com/resources/buttons#tweet
But my solution avoid the javascript to force the design of the buton
You can use this:
<a href='https://twitter.com/share?url=google.com&text=Signup>Tweet</a <script>!function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src='//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js';fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document,'script','twitter-wjs');</script>
Confirm that you have included the correct twitter scripts . Better still, generate your tweet button code from the twitter developer interface here ..
https://about.twitter.com/resources/buttons
If you would like to modify the tweetbutton content on the fly ...e.g after page load, you will have to creat and insert your tweet button into the html DOM dynamically .
Some guidance on that can be found here .

Hopefully this is helpful.
You have to encode your text before inserting it in the link. The correct procedure is:
Encode the text with an online tool like this one
Put the result inside an HTML link (as suggested by #FenixAoras): Share on Twitter
If you generate your HTML with php, you can use the urlencode function directly in your script:
echo "Share on Twitter";
If you are using WordPress, the best way is creating a shortcode, beacuse with it you can use also the native functions of WordPress:
function tweet_this($atts, $content = null)
{
extract(shortcode_atts(array(
"text" => ''
), $atts));
return "<a href='https://twitter.com/intent/tweet?text=".urlencode( $text." - ".get_the_title()." - ".get_permalink() )."'>Share on Twitter</a>";
}
add_shortcode( 'tweet_this', 'tweet_this' );
(Note: the code above is just a lead, you can expand it and you have to test)
Usage:
[tweet_this text="my custom text with #hashtag and #Mention"]
I have a drupal website. I want to generate an Iframe with content from my drupal site, that other sites can embed.
How I think this can be achieved:
Method 1: Create a php script that is autonomous from the drupal engine.
Import the configuration file and hence gain access to the database. Generate the content as a standalone webpage. Distribute the url of this script as the iframe's source url.
Problems: cannot provide drupal functionality within the iframe such as interaction with logged in user.
Method 2: Create the iframe from within drupal.
Create a new module that defines a menu entry using hoom_menu (the url for the iframe). Define the content of the iframe from the callback function of the menu entry. Then Somehow assign a custom page.tpl.php theme for the desired iframe url so that only the content of the iframe is rendered without all the other page elements (blocks, menus, footer, etc.).
Any comments especially for method 2 will be greatly appreciated! :)
I have done exactly this, just this week!
I created a custom module that outputs only the content that I want (using hook_menu()). Then I created a page template (page-mycustommodule.tpl.php) that only has
<?php print $content; ?>
within the <body> tags.
That was basically all. To find out the name that your page template needs to have, use the devel and theme_devel modules, then just click on your page and it will tell you which templates it looked for.
One thing to look out for: any links in the iframe will only change the contents OF THAT FRAME, so when your module creates links, use the proper target to make the parent page jump to the new URL:
l('link text',
'node/' . $mynode->nid,
array('attributes' => array('target' => '_parent')));
I found the answer by Graham very useful. Unfortunately I don't have enough reputation on this site to add a comment so I will have to put my comment in an answer.
5 years on, the information has changed slightly:
The module theme_devel now seems to be called devel_themer instead.
In D7, the template naming pattern is slightly different with 2
hyphens: page--[front|internal/path].tpl.php (see docs)
D7 templates are slightly different based on render arrays, so the template will need to be something like print render($page['content']);
method 3
you can use this module https://www.drupal.org/project/entity_iframe that allows you to create IFRAME READY webpages
install it and go to the display settings of you content type that you want to use as iframe content admin/structure/types/manage/CONTENTTYPE/display
choose the IFRAME view mode and choose the fields you would like to be shown
and then use url like this domain.com/entity_iframe/node/NID and you will have a display with no extra headers footers etc ...
By default a sample EMBED/IFRAME code is provided to the admin under each node the settings
<iframe width="100%" height="300" src="domain.com/entity_iframe/node/96" frameborder="0" class="entity_iframe entity_iframe_node" id="entity_iframe_node_96" allowfullscreen="true" webkitallowfullscreen="true" mozallowfullscreen="true"></iframe>
The settings in admin/config/system/entity_iframe control some of the details of the embed code
For complete control of the theme used you can use in combination with https://www.drupal.org/project/entity_iframe_theme
What do you exactly need to iframe?
A node? A block? Should it be static or dynamic?
You can simply create a node with a php filter and generate the iframe output.
Then you can put this output between <pre> tags to display it as code that users can copy/paste in their site.
