On line 862 of /wp-themes/inovodo/style.css change padding from this
#navigation ul li a {
height: 87px;
display: block;
float: left;
margin: 0 0 0px 15px;
padding: 0px 5px;
line-height: 90px;
border-bottom: 3px solid transparent;
font-size: 13px;
color: #666666;

Fluid-width nav in IE7

Working on revamping a client's site, and one of their requests is to change the nav to accommodate text of any size. Here's the trick: I can't change html, just css and javascript. Oh, and the version of jquery on the site is 1.4.4 - this can't change either.
I've got a javascript-based solution in place, and it's working across all modern browsers - but I can't seem to get it to function in IE7. The solution relies on all nav elements rendering in their native width (i.e. wrapping instead of resizing), in order to calculate the necessary width changes. In IE7, the nav items don't clear - the last one shrinks to a tiny size to fit into the first row, and the javascript thus can't tell that resizing needs to be calculated.
The javascript should work fine, the main issue is that I need to know what my css isn't doing to force the last element to wrap instead of resize in IE7. I've tried an exhaustive number of combinations of display: inline-block;, white-space: nowrap;, and float: left; to no avail.
I isolated the nav in question and put it in a fiddle right here. If anyone has any ideas, or knows a better way I can implement, let me know - all suggestions welcome!
I have two versions of your jsFiddle here to compare with and verify that this is what you're going for. I cleaned up your CSS a bit but the main thing I did was set a percentage width on the li in your navigation. You have 6 elements so 100/6 = 16.6666%. I should also not I removed the jQuery in the jsFiddles below.

and
http://jsfiddle.net/D8etp/2/
CSS

}
#top-nav{
padding-top: 30px;
width: 940px;
}
#nav {
color: #FFF;
font-size: 12px;
margin: 0;
padding: 0;
text-transform: uppercase;
min-height: 49px;
background-color: #007369;
overflow: hidden;
}
#nav > li {
display: block;
float: left;
list-style-type: none;
margin: 0;
padding: 9px 0 0 0;
width: 16.6666666666%;
}
#nav > li > a {
display: block;
box-sizing: border-box;
text-align: center;

creating space between font awesome icon rows with css

I've got a selection part where I have multiple font Awesome icons and the selected one has a bar underneath it.
That goes alright as long as I only have 1 row of icons. When I have multiple rows the "selected bar" is not visible anymore as the icon underneath is hiding it.
I'm not very strong in css and tried all the padding and margins I could think of but without much success. In the attached jsfiddle you can see the selector for the last two icons, but not for the first one.
What should I add to the css below so that I can have multiple rows of icons and still see the selector bar?
.icon-picker {
border: 0px solid #000000;
margin-right: 5px;
width: 24px;
height: 24px;
background-color: #FFFFFF;
padding-bottom: 4px;
}
.selected {
border-left: 0px;
border-right: 0px;
border-top: 0px;
border-bottom: 2px solid #000000;
}
.icon-container {
display: inline-block;
vertical-align: middle;
padding-top: 4px;
padding-left: 15px;
max-width: 300px;
}
Thanks for your time.
jsfiddle
You need to make the <i> tag a block element for the width and height to be applied to the element.
See fiddle
.icon-picker {
border: 0px solid #000000;
display: inline-block;
margin-right: 5px;
width: 24px;
background-color: #FFFFFF;
}

How can I adjust the spacing between buttons in vaadin?

I am new to the Vaadin framework.I'm now trying to learn it by rebuilding the demo on their front page of Quciktickets dashboard using the Eclipse vaadin plug-in. Now I'm using css in my Theme to configure the sidebar part of that page.
My problem is after I add the buttons in the sidebar, they seems to be too far away from each other. So how can I fix it? I've tried to use padding, but that will only change the size of the button block while I wanna change the spacing between the blocks. Thx for anyone paying attention or giving hints for such a noob question.
code define the nativebutton layout:
.sidebar .sidemenu .v-nativebutton {
-webkit-appearance: none;
display: block;
padding: 10px 14px 10px;
width: 100%;
border: none;
margin: 0;
/*position: relative;*/
border-top: 1px solid #4b4c4d;
border-top-color: rgba(255,255,255,.05);
border-bottom: 1px solid #353637;
border-bottom-color: rgba(0,0,0,.18);
background:transparent;
color: #888a8c;
font-weight: normal;
text-shadow: 0 1px 0 rgba(0,0,0,.5);
text-align:center;
}

CSS anchor text not in line

This is my site:
http://www.michelepierri.it/
I correctly see my theme in FF and IE but if I open it in Chrome menu voice are not correctly visualized:
Can you help me to resolve this problem?
After reviewing your css, I found too many unused styling please remove those and use these rules:
.menu li {
float: left;
}
.menu a {
white-space: nowrap;
border-left: 1px solid #585858;
color: #fff;
display: inline-block;
font-size: 13px;
font-weight: 700;
height: 45px;
line-height: 45px;
padding: 0 0.9em;
text-shadow: 0 1px 1px #242424;
}
Please see the attachment after doing that changes.
See I am also using the same version and for me its fine
Prevent menu options from wrapping text
Add an additional style rule to your menu links CSS so all text stays in the same line.
.menu a {
border-left: 1px solid #585858;
color: #fff;
display: block;
font-size: 13px;
font-weight: 700;
height: 45px;
line-height: 45px;
margin: 0;
padding: 0 0.9em;
position: relative;
text-decoration: none;
text-shadow: 0 1px 1px #242424;
white-space: nowrap; /* THIS ONE */
}
And add the same thing to .sub-header-menu a style definition because when I check the site even Cloud Computing is wrapped and breaks the whole situation.
Advice: It is ok that you're exploring the possibilities of CSS but you're playing a bit too much with it producing legibility problems. Letter and word spacing should only be cautiously manipulated. I'd suggest to remove majority of letter and word spacing settings.

IE 7 & 8 failing to load (or perhaps correctly cascade) part of a stylesheet

I have a bizarre problem, IE 7 and 8 are not loading about 80% of one of my stylesheets, they get to a point, and then don't load any further. The IE dev tools recognise the unloaded properties, but they aren't applied in browser. The following stylesheets all load correctly, and no other browser has any problem with them. Additionally, the HTML prototype site which is about 90% the same as the near-production version has no problem.
The site is being built locally on Wordpress, but I've uploaded the source for the home page here, should that help (the stylesheet that doesn't load correctly is '760.css'). Additionally, the (correctly working) prototype can be viewed here, but some changes have been made between that version and the conversion to Wordpress.
The offending stylesheet (seems to stop loading after the ul#menu-site-nav properties have been applied):
/*

}
}
After rewriting the entire stylesheet by hand and testing after every line, it seems that the problem is with the media query at the end. I've removed every part of the media query individually and am completely unable to identify what part of it IE is choking on. I also copied and pasted the media query to a different stylesheet and that stylesheet loads fine in IE 7 & 8. So very strange.
Since it does work without the media query, I've moved it to another stylesheet where it works fine.
Your problem seems to be in the fact that some CSS pseudo selectors you are using aren't supported by these browsers, namely :nth-child and :last-child.
And while it should work I they might be having trouble with the immediate child selector used without spaces (this is just a guess but not far fetched) i.e. section-nav>ul>li should probably be #section-nav > ul > li
Do mind that IE7 and I think 8 as well don't support rgba either.
Any succeeding parse errors or missing styles could be attributed to this, maybe...
For more information about the exact spec that IE7+ should support please read this excellent article about CSS2.1 selectors
