Is there a program that would connect to a remote unix server using ssh, and show various system info (CPU usage, Memory usage, disk space..etc) ?
I should mention that I'm using windows, and I have non-root access via ssh to the machine that I want to monitor. Also, I can't use any web-based tools, because the server is only accessible from my work computer, using site-to-site VPN.
Thanks !
The closest thing I found is an android app that connects to a linux server via ssh, and shows some system info.
Here it is : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sonelli.juicessh.performancemonitor
It is a plugin for JuiceSSH ssh client so you need to install that first.

Lately I discovered that connecting to a VPN via PPTP option has been removed in the new mac os - sierra.
I tried multiple application to do so - all failed.
How can I connect to my VPN over PPTP?
ps. I don't want to use L2TP because I don't have a pre shared key (I also don't know what it is).
The FlowVPN client is free (and works with any provider).
It supports PPTP and OpenVPN on macOS Sierra:
https://www.flowvpn.com/download-mac/
Just overwrite the FlowVPN server address with any server and it connects.
VPN PPTP in Sierra is dismissed because it is not a secure method of communication.
To solve the problem; you can install software Shimo that works with the operating system Sierra

I need have a networking monitoring system that have these feature.
opensourced (must)
written by c/c++. (must)
async io mode (like io, must)
support ping, http, snmp, mysql, redis... protocal
The System must run with epoll mode so that run many test as there can, no blocking at all.
Is there any avaliable one?
I don't know if you looked on sourceforge for open source software, they have many rated network monitoring systems written in C and C++. Pandora is good but look around maybe you might find what you looking for there.>>> Link<<<

We are developing an embedded Linux system.
The system is accessed via serial port and ethernet/wifi (telnet and http to configure).
We are looking for a test framework that would support executing commands on the system via serial port and/or telnet and evaluate the results. Also executing commands from the host system to test connectivity with the embedded system (basic things like ping, open ports, etc...)
It will be a plus if the framework also supported some HTTP actions, like enabling a configuration via HTTP and then trying if it works via ethernet/serial/wifi.
We were planning about developing it ourselves, but it will be really nice if there was something available to save some time.
Thanks!
I've had previously had success using DejaGNU http://www.gnu.org/software/dejagnu/ though I did not use HTTP actions (since it was not part of our system).

My uni is teaching a distributed system course, which has sample programs using java RMI. I would like to test those program, and practice with Python as well in the future. How would I create an environment as if I have several networked computers (or a computer cluster)? I'm not sure about VMWare, VirtualBox or the like would be applicable. Preferably, the cluster should be easily created, configured and so on. Nobody would want to individually create, set up 10 machines in VirtualBox I suppose...Thanks.
Use VMWare or VirtualBox or Parallels, etc. THose will do exactly what you're looking for. They're seen on the network as hosts (depending on the mode you have them set in). I do this all the time.
You're going to want to set up several machines, and run them. Make sure that the Network Interface is setup properly, so that they can communicate with one another. When you start getting into this virtualization stuff, you can run into some issues with the hypervisor. But that occurs normally when there's an issue with the NATing. I just use bridged mode, and it works fine for me.

We have a server located at our office & we have 6 employees distributed over 6 different cities.
We are facing a case where these 6 employees sometimes try to login into the server through internet
concurrently and perform different tasks like ( opening our ERP system, checking
some emails, deleting some files) without disturbing each other i.e. each employee will
work independently from each other.
Of course, we would prefer a software which provides these features over the internet to pass all the firewalls or any obstacles.
I have found some applications like TeamViewer but only allows one user to have full control
What is OS running on your server. Assuming you have windows server you can use Remote Desktop Sessions - http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa383052(v=VS.85).aspx
