After I preview my website, the CSS code suddenly disappear and was saved. Does anyone know how to recover it?
I still have the website correctly preview in Chrome. Is there any way that I could get the code from there?
I was almost ending the website, so another 3 weeks battling.
View the source code with Ctrl + U, then click external stylesheet link, copy the code and paste it in a new stylesheet.
NOTE: Don't refresh before doing this.
If you have it on a separate css file, you should be able to go into Chrome developer tools and select Sources. This will show you the attached css files. You can then copy and paste it.

So I'm new to coding but this seems like a no brainer that I can't seem to work out. I created a proper link saved in a styles.css file but the background color isn't coming up. when I inspect the page it just tells me it can't find the file. What could I possibly be doing wrong here?
And here's the site I'm starting--->
My site
I have a weppart page I'm editing in SharePoint Web. I have an excel workbook display webpart in a column. The webpart has a summary toolbar for open in excel, download, and such. The toolbar has multiple buttons displayed to the user that I want to remove. Foe example, the first one is Edit in Excel.
I added a content editor for CSS and used
.cui-ctl-mdedium,
.cui-ctl-mdediumlabel
Display:None;
I've tried multiple classes, targeting just the webpart, using !important and such with no luck. Any thoughts?
Element/Class info
Are you sure you've written that selector correctly? The class name is actually .cui-ctl-mediumlabel ... you've written it with a "1". Not much to do in this case without code or anything to actually try it out. Have you tried solving your problem with your browser's dev tools adding rules?
I am using the same style sheet for 2 pages (index.html & contact.html). All styling has been applied to index.html. Now I have copied and pasted the same code into contact.html, but have found that the new CSS styling I have tried to use will not apply to this page. The pathfile to the style.css sheet has not been changed. What I don't understand is why some of the styling is being applied from the other page but when trying to add new styling it does not?
Have you tried clearing your browser cache or going incognito/private browsing
Are you applying new styles using classes or ids? Id is unique, while classes are reusable. Also if you have inline styling it will override the stylesheet. Can you post your code as an example?
Well there can be a couple of reasons for this:
Make sure that your stylesheet is properly loading. I don't know if you are using in page styling or an external stylesheet but make sure that it actually exists there.
How can you do that? When you open the contact.html page in the browser, hit Ctrl + U if you are using windows or Command + U if you are using Mac. If it is an internal styling, you will be able to see the actual code there. If you are using an external stylesheet make sure that the <link> tag exists in the page. If it exists the right click on it and select Open file in a new tab. If you see can see the code in the next tab. It means that your styles are properly loading.
Make sure that your elements in the html page and stylesheet file have the same appropriate names. For example # of id's and . for classes.
If everything is okay then it can be a cache issue. Since browsers cache the static assets, you should consider refreshing the cache by Hard Reloading the page. How can you do that? It's simple, just hit Ctrl + Shift + R if you are using windows or Command + Shift + R if you are using Mac. If these keys don't work, just click and hold the reload button on the browser until it shows a dropdown. Then simply select Hard Reload.
In case it doesn't work, then send us a link to your webpage. I'm here to help you. Just let me now :-)
I have a question.
I am currently building a "blog" website. Not that it matters but..
I am trying to set my background to be a specific image that i have.
And it used to work! Until recently and I just don't know why it wont.
It works when i am on my computer, everything works fine.
But i am using 000Webhost as the hoster for the website.
So if u go to "http://pontuslundhblogg.uphero.com/"
You might see that the website is completely white. Cause the picture wont load for the background.
In my css sheet, i am using:
body {
background-image: url("bakgrund.jpg");
And yes, i did name the picture bakgrund.jpg and uploaded it to 000webhost. Its the exact same name etc. I wondering.. Could two different css stylesheets make so it gets weird or something? Cause I added a second css style sheet to be able to have a drop-down menu in a different sheet, and i added the drop-menu. Around that time it started messing with me..
Is it me doing something wrong.
Or is it 000Webhost?
(Might add that none of my pictures is working now, i can also contribute with more code if needed!)
If you go to pontuslundhblogg.uphero.com/bakgrund.jpg you get a message
"The image pontuslundhblogg.uphero.com/bakgrund.jpg cannot be
displayed because it contains errors".
If you go to pontuslundhblogg.uphero.com/bakgrund1.jpg you get 404 page, which means that the first path (bakgrund.jpg) is correct - but the image itself isn't good.
Try to upload it again or contact the hosting service.
If you use FTP maybe you need to change something in your FTP program settings - maybe change from ASCII to Binary transfer.

I have no idea how to fix this.
VS keeps opening css file in some text editing mode, see the picture below.
I have already tried to set it manually to open using css editor, right-click on css file and select "Open with..."
When I click OK here, it opens my css file in CSS source editor fine,
but every next time it opens again in that text mode, like it completely ignores that it has to open it using css editor :(
Of course I installed and reinstalled Web Standards Update a thousand times.
Nothing helps.
The damn thing keeps opening them in that ugly text mode :(
Hmmm. Have you tried looking under the view menu? It's been a while since I've used it, but I remember different views being under the view menu bar.
If that doesn't work then I'd always try creating a new .css file and copy and pasting all the information; after you copy and paste, overwrite the pre-existing corrupt file.
