I know it's a long shot, but we're using an older version of the server with custom logic to integrate with our app and it would be just swell if we could offer SFTP as well for customers that want to integrate via FTP.
IT Hit WebDAV Server does not support FTP/SFTP. We consider FTP to be outdated protocol.

I am very new to enterprise content management concepts.
I would like to do a small hands or a case study before we embark on the full fledged thing.
My work will be mainly on the client side so I would like to get more experience in consuming server content.
For that I needed to get some experience on CMIS apis and their consumption.
I plan to develop a plain eclipse based client for the server. I would like to see the content in Eclipse RCP app.Kind of what alfresco explorer does.
I don't want install an alfresco server for myself as I would not work on the server side. How can I use an Alfresco server for my case study? Should I use the public alfresco server or the cloud based alfresco server?
Also please provide suggestions on my case study.
Ok..feeling much more enlightened after 4 hrs of CMIS and Alfresco exploration.
My query of getting a server got resolved by accessing the public cmis alfresco server which is available at http://cmis.alfresco.com/
I also downloaded CMIS Workbench for windows and have setup the alfresco server locally.
Both the servers can be connected with my java client (using Apache Chemisty libs).
to connect remotely to the Alfresco server a local resovable name should be used. IP is not recognized.
One more option is to get a free trial from the alfresco cloud.
cheers,
Saurav
We have a local intranet based Project Management tool, we built it in asp.net .net 4.0 and sql server 2008. We cannot access this system online as it is lan based, neither we want its files to be appear online. But most of the cases we and other managers need to post project on it from home, but the issue is we dont wana use this system only on online server but also local intranet should be working, live ip is not prefered in any case because of electricity issues etc. We have an idea in our mind, that if we launch the same published site on online server (dedicated vps), and people use to work on offline system, but we can make some .exe utility which will upload our latest records from offline server to online server using the internet, does sql server provide any built in functionality for this, what is the best way to do this, either with our own custom logic with windows task scheduler or .Net provides any kind of facility for that. The reason of not using this system only as online is, our employees used to upload files in GBs, and the internet is only 4MBps, which will slow down the work, also we dont want internet dependency every time, also there is security issue.

Check out Microsoft Sync Framework: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/sync/bb736753
We need to implement client / server to open / edit Office documents from server as confluence does. We have our server side implementations (web services) to download / upload documents. Also we have our authentication services that handle user authentication. We need to implement / configure WebDAV along with these existing services. So:
When Office application requests a document from WebDav servlet, webdav connects to our existing service to get the document and would use our existing authentication service to authenticate the user. What code do we need to write to handle this?
Save as above to save a document back.
Can anyone please help me on how to get a quick start on this? Any tutorial links?
Thanks & regards,
Nadeem Ullah
I recently implemented a prototype using the milton framework to browse the repository and open office documents from our DMS and made good progress. It´s wired up using spring and a filter in our deployment descriptor - so far I´m fairly impressed by milton. It´s easy to use and integrates quite well.
From what I know, Webdav protocol is what you are looking for.
Microsoft Office can open files from a WebDAV server and save them back to the server without the need to download them to local file system. To achieve this the following conditions must be met:
Your WebDAV server must support Class 2. Microsoft Office locks documents when creating and opening files for editing. If Microsoft Office is unable to lock the document it will be opened as read-only.
Your WebDAV server must be configured on the site root in case of MS Office 2007 or earlier. Microsoft Office 2007 and earlier may submit OPTIONS and PROPFIND requests to the site root (http://server/) and requires the server to respond properly. If your WebDAV server is non-root Microsoft Office 2007 and earlier may open documents as read-only. There is no this issue with MS Office 2010 and later versions.

Please also look at Apache JackRabit which is a WebDav server. And search WebDav from github for other implementaions.
So here is my situation. I have a laptop that I want to be able to do mobile development on. If I have to travel for a week or so I still want to be able to use TFS, however I may not be able to access my main server. I mainly code in C# .NET running Windows 7. The TFS Proxy would be on a VM running Server 2008 R2 that I would spin up while on the road.
Is it feasible to use TFS Proxy as an offline solution?
No, it only caches files (get) and only the files that have been 'get' before through this proxy server. For things like the history, check out or checkin in you need the real TFS server. It also does not cache work items.
PS: There is TFS Offline mode. Here is an old description.
EDIT
It seems the next TFS version will support this offline scenario much better. Read more about it here.
I have a requirement to build an application that a company can use to manage an ftp server. The idea is that through the web app, they can create users which will also create an ftp space etc so that the user can then upload documents and files to the company. The requirement is specifically that clients can use an ftp program and the company manages it through a web application.
I know Plesk provides an API which could be used by an asp.net application, as well as being able to work with IIS directly etc
however, can anyone suggest:
- a .net library that makes this straight forward (or just tell me that IIS is the best way to go)
- a package that does this (even if it costs)
- an alternate ftp server (not the IIS one) that may make this easier
- examples of .net code managing the IIS ftp server
- "just use plesk"! but really, plesk has too much in it, really I just want the ftp management part of plesk
assume it would be running on a windows server with complete control...I was just presuming that I'd interact with the IIS ftp server but cannot find any real examples of managing the ftp side of things (mind you, searching FTP IIS and .Net etc gives a real mixture of results)
thanks heaps!
(do you always find stuff after you ask?)...
This looks exactly what I'm after...
http://learn.iis.net/page.aspx/285/provisioning-sample-in-c/#CreateFTP
But I'm still open to what's out there...has anyone implemented code similar to this?
This would be the best place to start with IIS7: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/microsoft.web.administration%28v=VS.90%29.aspx
we've recently started using WinSCP's (winscp.net) scripting/command-line interface (CLI) from Windows Scheduled Tasks calling standard Windows batch files, but i noticed they also have a howto for c#:
