Julia Pkg.add persistent errors - julia

I've encountered another problem with Julia's Pkg.add on Windows8 and the x64 distro. I started with a fresh install and couldn't blame it on dependencies.
ERROR: key not found: "StatsBase"
Reinstall & clearing Julia variables from the systems didn't help so I'm below what finally did the trick, after 4 hours of fumbling around. Hope it's of use.

After re-installing Pkg.init() didn't help, because the package folder was stored in Users/./.julia/ . The trick was to wipe all the directories previously associated with Julia, reinstall and then do Pkg.init().

Exporting excel files from R in windows [duplicate]

I am trying to load the rJava using the command:
library(rJava)
But I get the following error:
Error : .onLoad failed in loadNamespace() for 'rJava', details:
call: fun(libname, pkgname)
error: JAVA_HOME cannot be determined from the Registry
Error: package or namespace load failed for ‘rJava’
I tried reinstalling both the Java and the R program with the latest versions
but still get these errors..
May I know how I can resolve this? Thank you very much!
This error is often resolved by installing a Java version (i.e. 64-bit Java or 32-bit Java) that fits to the type of R version that you are using (i.e. 64-bit R or 32-bit R). This problem can easily effect Windows 7 users, since they might have installed a version of Java that is different than the version of R they are using.

Install 64 bit Java from https://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp.
Then in windows cmd run
setx PATH "C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.8.0_211\bin\server;%PATH%"
(make sure your path is correct).
Then in RStudio run
Sys.setenv(JAVA_HOME="")
Now, you should be able to run rJava!!
I got the same error resolved by installing same version of R and Java i.e. 64 bits and manually updating the path i.e. ,
Sys.setenv(JAVA_HOME='C:/Program Files/Java/jre1.8.0_121') # for 64-bit version
R for Windows installer installs by default both 32-bit and 64-bit files. Reinstalling R and unticking 32-bit part solved the problem for me.
Under Windows 10, first check your (running) R-Version:
R.version
If you see something like x86_64, a 64-bit version of Java is needed.
Simply downloading and installing the matching Java version (https://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp) solved the problem for me. No reinstall of R needed (as suggested by other users here). There also was no need to set the path explicitly.
As mentioned in the r-statistics link cited above, you have to manually download the 64-bit version of Java. If not, then the 32-bit version will be installed.
So, if you have a 64-bit operating system, then ensure that both R and Java are using the 64-bit installs. Otherwise, this problem will persist.
This has been killing me and I have tried multiple methods above, it doesn't work. After, I mix all solution to try and below process works for me.
Install Java for 64 bit
Run below code in windows command
setx PATH "C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.8.0_171\bin\server;%PATH%"
(please change the address acorrding to your dvm.dll real address)
Run below in R studio
Sys.setenv(JAVA_HOME="")
Then I finally can run
library(rJava)
library(xlsx)
I faced the same issue and was feeling very down as I couldnt get my analysis done.
This worked for me :
check your operating system. 64 bit or 32 bit.

uninstall previous versions of Java.
delete rJAVA library from Doc>R>win-library. If you have more than 1 versions of R, make sure you delete rJAVA package from all of them.
install Java based on system requirement (64 bit or 32 bit).
and finally restart R before and after installing rJava package.
If R is 64-bit version make sure to install Java 64-bit version!
If R is x86-bit version make sure to install Java x86-bit version!
You can add INSTALL_opts=c("--no-multiarch") to your install_github() call:
devtools::install_github("mne-tools/mne-r", INSTALL_opts=c("--no-multiarch"))

Create a new directory in C: drive as "library"
set your libPath this directory. you need to type
.libPath("C:/library")
reinstall packages which requires java (xlsx, rJava, RJDemetra)
it will give error message again but it will work.

Trying to add IJulia via the REPL: Unsatisfiable requirements detected for package

I keep trying to add IJulia in the REPL, and I keep getting this error message:
I tried installing JSON directly, but the REPL would say "The following packages names could not be resolved".
If it helps, I'm running a Windows 10 laptop with julia 1.0.5
Is there a fix to this? Should I install an earlier version to julia?

It seems like you have outdated registries locally.
The registries are ~/.julia/registries, message like The following package names could not be resolved usually suggests that registry are not updated or somehow corrupted.
Delete them (the directory ~/.julia/registries/General) and then adding packages should cause the General registry to be downloaded, the newest version. Then you should be able to add IJulia without problem.

In R 3.4.3 (Windows 10) while loading the packages arulesViz:

I tried to uninstall and install, but did not help. What is wrong and how can i correct it?
Basically you need to install the dependencies of arulesViz.
I tried with Scatterplot3d , viznetwork, vcd, virdislite.
I also faced similar problem.
This problem can be resolved by installing package "viridisLite" along with "arulesViz"
for me it worked no need to reinstallthe R or Rstudio
It get solved , after reinstall RStudio + removed old version of R.
Disadvantage is all libraries will also get removed. So you have to load again.
I had the same issue with the seriation package. Ultimately I found that I just had to uninstall and reinstall r and r studio. Then i ran update.packages() and I had no problems.
This is a pain, as there are several packages with dependencies for packages which in turn import viridisLite, and this error is very opaque for users...
One thing I've found works (apart from manually install.packages("") each package mentioned in the error) is to switch repositories to the RStudio-maintained Cloud repo. (repo 0).
The problem seems to have hit people with a default repo that has incompatible versions of packages at the time people use it, and the cloud repo seems to avoid/not suffer from this problem.

Can't install a package with an error: "Currently it is not possible to install binary packages from a remote repository as root"

I was unable to install a R package through GUI R.app on macOS, using a package installer GUI. In the past, I was able to install it without any problems.
The problem is when I tried to install a package, an error Currently it is not possible to install binary packages from a remote repository as root. occurred. I might not be good at the system-level knowledge, so want to use GUI as I have used it. But what is preventing the GUI from working any longer? Maybe from Yosemite it is no longer working?
And finally, is it still possible to use GUI package installer in this situation?
UPDATE
Hmmm... It seems that after updating to 3.3.1 (I used 3.3), the problem has gone away. I can install packages both at User Level and System Level without any problems. I don't know why, but someone can clarify it in case I would face the same problem in the future?

What Julia error 'Unknown dependency for GARCH: NLopt' means?

Using Julia Studio (Win XP) and trying to add package DataFrames - how can the following error be resolved?
Unknown dependency for GARCH: NLopt
(How can I verify that a package was installed) Running dv = DataArray([1,2,3]) says DataArray not defined. So it seems stuck.
You're using a rather old version of julia (0.1.x) and the GARCH package doesn't support it. Try installing a development version from source (it takes a bit the first time, but should be quite automatic) or try a development binary.
Edit: Also, this issue may now be taken care of if you want to do Pkg.update() and try again.
