I am a newbie to Goldengate.
I have installed Oracle GoldenGate 12c for Oracle Database 11.2.0.4.
The installation was successful but after installation I was unable to open ggsci
i tried opening it with command prompt but not able to open it.
the ggsci window and within a second it closes without displaying any error.
Thanks in advance.
I figure out that some of windows files were missing ..adding them to the same folder where ggsci resides starts the process

I'm an undergraduate research assistant working on a Linux server without root privilege. I'm trying to install the Rstudio server but the Rstudio website only provides the installation method for sudoers. Is it possible to install it without root access? I'm asking because I'm really not sure if I could get access from the manager. Any help will be appreciated!
No, you can't install it without root access. But there are a couple of things you could do to piece together a solution. Here are two options:
Extract the server and run it directly
You have to be root to install packages, so you can't install the .deb/.rpm file yourself. However, you could extract the contents of the file to a directory inside your home directory and run RStudio Server from there, by executing the rserver program in a regular shell.
Note that this will probably require an afternoon of editing the rserver.conf file to tell it where to find the rest of the files in the installation (since it presumes they are installed in /usr/lib by default). Run the desktop version and forward the graphics
The other route is to run RStudio Desktop on the server; we make several builds of RStudio Desktop that are installer-less and can just be unpacked into your home directory. Then run an X11 server on your own computer and an X11 client on the RStudio server, so that the RStudio Desktop instance appears on your computer instead of the server.
Yes, you can run rserver without root priveliges.
For RStudio 1.4 I patched the following line into src/cpp/core/LogOptions.cpp
const FilePath kDefaultLogPath = core::system::xdg::userDataDir().completePath("log");
Then you need to set the system environment variables to some location read-writeable for the user, like
RSTUDIO_CONFIG_DIR=$HOME/.config/rstudio
RSTUDIO_CONFIG_HOME=$HOME/.config/rstudio
RSTUDIO_DATA_HOME=$HOME/.local/share/rstudio
And start rserver with the option
--server-data-dir={directory writeable for user}
--server-pid-file={file-path creatable for user}
--database-config-file={config-file}
With these adjustments it runs for me when I start it as a simple user (no root privileges) with
rserver --auth-none=1 --www-frame-origin=same --www-port={port} --www-verify-user-agent=0 --server-data-dir={my-tmp-path} --server-pid-file={my-tmp-path}/rstudio.pid --database-config-file={my-tmp-path}/db.conf}
ATTENTION:
But be aware, that anyone who can reach your system and the specified port from the network has access to the running RStudio in his browser and therefore can run any command in the name of the user on your system now.
I'm an Ubuntu user and I used to work with the standard version of Rstudio on my computer. After reading about the server version I installed it on my PC and I'm working with it now. Although I'm very happy with rstudio-server version, I have been facing some difficulties to keep with some old practices. Particularly, I use to launch, open and create new files from the terminal using rstudio keyword - I'm specially fond to the possibility of open files in current rstudio session through the terminal window within rstudio. However, I cannot figure out which command is equivalent in rstudio-server.
I tried, without success, the following commands:
rstudio-server
and
r-server
Interestingly, when I type which rstudio (to find the path of the program's binary files), the terminal did not return any results. The program is installed and working normally, but I just can't find it on my PC

I was using my own laptop to install R and I found that it only has one library. Evne though this library is still read only, everytime when I use Rstudio: install.packages("abc"), I can see that the new packages are stored automatically into that read only library folder.
In my office's desktop, I "believe" I also have administrator role, as I can install and remove anything (by far). I download the latest version of R and I right click the R-3.4.1-win.exe, there is an item "run as administrator", then it is installed in my desktop. However, when I use R studio to install new packages as in my laptop, it always automatically create a personal folder to store the new packages. I don't know why. Is that a way to only have one folder for library? I also tried on the desktop in the plain R mode (without using Rstudio). When I want to install new packages, it always says
Warning in install.packages("devtools") :
'lib = "C:/Program Files/R/R-3.4.1/library"' is not writable
And there is a window pops up to ask me "would you like to create a personal folder?" And if I say no, then
Error in install.packages("devtools") : unable to install packages.
Is there a ways to solve this problem? To just maintain one folder for library
What version of Windows are you using? You should be able to right-click on the Rstudio.exe icon, click Properties, and select an option to always run Rstudio as administrator. Be sure you use that same icon whenever you want to open Rstudio.
Incase of Mac, go to Applications, then right click on RStudio and
Select "Show Package Contents"
Go to Contents/MacOS
Now open terminal(in bash mode). Type sudo and drag the RStudio.exec into terminal and press on ENTER
Now RStudio will have admin access!
For completeness, I think there should be an Ubuntu answer to go along with the Microsoft and Apple answers. (Note:I'm using 18.06, and not 20.x.)
What doesn't work:
On my Ubuntu/Linux system, when Rstudio is installed the call start RStudio from a terminal looks something like the following:
(base) username#sysname:~$ rstudio
It starts, but has the permissions of the user, and can have access errors.
What gives admin power:
To give it better permissions, you can use sudo.
(base) username#sysname:~$ sudo rstudio
[sudo] password for username: <enter password here>
It starts in a different user location, but has more power. After it is installed you can run it the regular way and the packages are still installed.

i'm newer on Ubuntu community and i need to setup oracle database 11g R2
and i try to set-up oracle i do following steps
downloaded oracle two archive files.
extracted folder and result will be database folder.
./runinstaller from command line .
then oracle wizard appear next - > next .
error appear click continue multiple times.
then finished installed
when i try to type command sqlplus
it's tell me command not found , i try also here and try here

When I login to RStudio server installed as an Amazon Machine Image, I, I see the message "RStudio Server Initialization Error" and "Status code 500 returned," as in the screenshot. When I click OK, nothing changes.
What does this mean and how can I fix this?

Automated Installation of R-Studio Using Shell Script
It would be useful if you could state which version of RStudio Server you are using. Neverthless, you can try the following:
Install the most recent version using: wget http://download2.rstudio.org/rstudio-server-0.98.1103-amd64.deb. If you want 32-bit version wget http://download2.rstudio.org/rstudio-server-0.98.1103-i386.deb.
Delete the startup files (.Rprofile, .Renviron, and .RData) from your initial working directory, which should be user's home.
Check if you can run R from command line and if your are getting any error messages - fix that first
