Visual Web Developer 2010 Express hangs when adding web reference - asp.net

When attempting to add a web reference to my MVC 4 project I do the following:
-Right click on project name and select "Add Service Reference..."
-Click on "Advanced..." button
-Click on "Add Web Reference..." button
-Enter the Web Services API WSDL address in the URL field
At this point it will search and then find the web service and ask me to authenticate the request, after agreeing to continue I am prompted with a login dialog, after entering the correct username and password it will often lock up. Sometimes it will re-display the login dialog and/or pop up some security confirmation boxes that read "Do you want to view only the webpage content that was delivered securely?" (Haven't been able to select Yes or No yet due to application hang around this time).
At this point I have to close the IDE and start the process over. I've tried 5+ times and have updated my system and rebooted.
Any ideas what could be causing this?
Thanks.

Turns out it just took a very very long time. When clicking on pop ups it would stop responding, I found if I waited long enough it would eventually let me make a selection, then the next box would hang. Whole process took well over 20min but eventually went through.
Not sure if this question should be deleted since technically there was no error, I'll leave it up to the mods.
Thanks.

Enable SSL for ASP .NET Site

I am trying to enable SSL on one of my ASP .NET Web Site.
While doing so I am performing below two steps.
After doing above two settings if i try to browse site I should see below two popup.
But I am not getting above two popup instead I am getting below message on IE.
This page can’t be displayed
Make sure the web address https://localhost:2698 is correct.
Look for the page with your search engine.
Refresh the page in a few minutes.
Note: Please ignore PortNumber I have taken screen from other website.
If they don't appear, then you've probably clicked "Don't ask me again", and VS is doing exactly what you asked it to do - not ask you.
You can reset that by editing the registry and removing
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\VisualStudio\12.0\WebProjects\HideTrustIISCertificatePrompt
Then when you restart VS and attempt to enable SSL on your project you should be prompted again.

PurchReqApproval Workflow stopped working

PurchReqApproval workflow stopped working, that is all the workflow's messages are in pending state. There were no modifications made to objects related to that workflow (maybe except EDTs).
I am thinking this issue might be consequence of changing server admin password. Any hints how and where can I check/fix outdated password in IIS/AX/Services?
Go to your IIS manager and then click on application pools. Find the relevant one and right click on it and do advanced settings, then look at its identity (username) and click the ellipse .... Try setting the password again and recycling the app pool and/or doing an iisreset.

IIS Pool Stop issue in asp.net?

i don't know where i am stuck, but whenever i created the object of one of the class from App_Code, my sites pool stops, i dont understand whats wrong, with that class, everything is straightforward.
i have BAL and DAL created under App_Code, when i create the object of BAL, the App_Pool Stops.
here is a the BAL
and DAL
Please can anyone help me with this, i am stuck here for the last 2 weeks.
Check your event logs, you probably have a permission problem that is crashing the pool inside of your BAL/DAL.
Open Event Viewer by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start
button, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Security,
clicking Administrative Tools, and then double-clicking Event
Viewer.‌ Administrator permission required If you're prompted for an
administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide
confirmation.
Click the Error first, then check the Application event log.
Look for red error icons.

updating Silverlight application # website

I have the following scenario: a Silverlight application (constructed to be OOB) embedded at an ASP.NET website where, if the user already installed it, a label saying that is displayed; otherwise, an install button appears. Eventually I can update the .xap file available in the website.
Now the problem: if the user executes the application through his Desktop/Start Menu, i'm able to update the application and suggest the user to restart it. But, if I update the .xap file and upload it again to the website, apparently no "Silverlight update" occurs, it is displayed as a new application (if the user install it again, an application icon is displayed at his desktop).
Is there something I'm missing or there's nothing to do about this?
Thanks!
Signing the Silverlight application solves the problem.
When you run in a browser, updates are picked up right away (subject to HTTP caching rules). With OOB apps you need to use the App.Current.CheckAndDownloadUpdateAsync() method in your app to have it update.
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.windows.application.checkanddownloadupdateasync(v=vs.95).aspx
The only drawback is that there is no way to just check for an update and give the users an option to download it conditionally; calling this always updates it if there is an update. You can however hook into the event and find info about the update should you wish. See this resource for more information: http://forums.silverlight.net/forums/p/180931/408554.aspx

IIS logging feature

I have ASP.NET pages deployed and I was told that it appears to be logging quite a bit on the server (Ex. post and get). I am sure this is a feature on the IIS not with the pages.
The site interacts with other systems and use by a lot of users.
My questions are:
1. What does this mean?
2. Can I turn off this feature on the server?
Thanks.
1) Logging is a feature which you use to configure how IIS logs requests on the Web server.
2) Yes you can Disable logging from IIS by selecting Logging icon and disable from context menu.
I think it's frustrating that logging is turned on in IIS by default. If you don't know it's there, it's just filling up your web server with useless information.
However, the information in the log file is not useless if you know it is there.
If you have access to the web server, there are a couple of places that the log files might be saved in:
C:\WINNT\system32\LogFiles
C:\WINDOWS\system32\LogFiles\W3SVC1\exyymmdd.log
You can view the file contents in Notepad.
To get the exact log file name in IIS, right-click on the website, go to the Web Site tab, click on the Properties button, and go to the bottom of the pane. The filename is there.
There are choices of what kinds of data get logged. You may not need a lot of it. For example, the default log items like Date, Time and Client IP Address might be useful. Not so much Bytes Sent, Time Taken or Referrer, unless you are troubleshooting.
