I am having a tough time trying to pass a parameter into my method when I go to invoke it.
I new up a variable called setupNewCase, then I populate it with data. Once I do that, I then try to invoke the method. It normally works when I don't have a value to pass into it, but it doesn't work here in this case as I am trying to pass something into it.
To pass parameters to the invoked method you use the Parameters property on the InvokeMethod activity. Its available on the activity's properties grid and not directly on the designer.
You would use TargetObject when invoking a method on an instance object but since your CommonMethods class is static you won't ever instantiate it and therefore TargetObject should be empty.

I am building an WPF application using the MVVM Light Toolkit and specifically SimpleIoc.
I have a parent viewmodel that dynamically creates child viewmodels. When doing this I am using "standard" dependency injection to pass a IConfigService as a parameter to the constructor. I want the IConfigService to be a unique instance for each child viewmodel. So I try this:
IConfigService service = SimpleIoc.Default.GetInstance<IConfigService>(key);
ChildViewModel vm = new ChildViewModel(service);
Where key is a unique identifier for each child viewmodel. According to the documentation of MVVM Light and SimpleIoc this GetInstance method:
...provides a way to get an instance of a given type corresponding to a given key. If no instance had been instantiated with this key before, a new instance will be created.
There is also a remark that the class must have been registered before, else it returns null. In my case it has been, in ViewModelLocator:
var configService = new ConfigService();
SimpleIoc.Default.Register<IConfigService>(() => configService);
However, the GetInstance call returns the same instance every time.
What am I doing wrong here?
You registered an already instantiated object.
SimpleIoc does not create its own instances with this overload. It always returns configService. Either you need to perform the instantiation within the lambda, because you are using a factory overload, or you can do this more easily by just passing the ConfigService type. SimpleIoc will take care of the instantiation itself.
I have a POST controller method (say updateRow) that has RedirectAttributes as a parameter, since I am doing a POST to GET redirection after the method is executed. In the redirect GET method, I am accessing the flash attributes using RequestContextUtils.getInputFlashMap(). This works fine.
However, there is a scenario where I need to invoke this POST controller method from within another method. The idea is to pass a RedirectAttributes object that can act as the flash attribute carrier inside the "updateRow" method.
I tried using a new RedirectAttributesModelMap object, which helps in the successful execution of the "updateRow" method, but in the POST-to-GET method, the flash attributes are not available.
Is there a way I can manually define this RedirectAttributesModelMap object and bind it to the request/session?
I have a form which is used for automatic journal postings.
On that form I have a Ok command button and in closeOk method of the form I call the method from my datasource table.
In the JournalCheckPost class's infoResult() method I want to determine if the method is called from my form. I know that it can be done with caller methods but I don't know how exactly it should be done technically.
It is bad practice to make a method depend on where it is called from.
What you can do is to pass an extra parameter to the LedgerJournalCheckPost and infoResult can then check that. This can be done by introducing a boolean flag and a parm method.
I think, there can be many situations:
You want to pass some parameters from form
You want to manipulate the form (for example refresh datasource after action is complete)
Something other
But in all the cases depending on particular form is not a very good idea.
In first case you can set parameters from code using parm methods, or, better pass parameters using the Args class
In the second you can cast Args.caller to some interface that contain all the methods you want and manipulate the form using that methods (see \Classes\SysFormRun_doRe usages for example)
Disclaimer: I wished I had a through understanding before starting working with the framework.
But as it is of now, I'm lacking on that front, and hence the question.
I am working with Spring-Portlet MVC.
I have a flow, where in I take an input on a screen, validate the input, depending upon its result it either render same screen or next screen.
Implementation detail:
I have an action method which takes form backed command object. It checks whether entered input is valid or not. If it is not valid, it populate error message in BindingResult instance it takes as another argument.
We have different render method, to render different screen.
I'm taking command object as an argument in these render method. This command object I'm receiving is same as one passed to action.
Problem:
While rerendering a screen spring-mvc should bind the error message populated in action method. Currently when I take command object as argument in render method spring-mvc is somehow unable to bind that error message. But interesting enough it is able to bind the error message if I don't take command object as argument in render method and rather create a new command object altogether there.
can,some one having better understanding of spring-portlet mvc please explain this behaviour, or tell where I am lacking in understanding.

EDIT: Just to enrich the below answer: Though I didn't exactly isolated the issue which was causing the said behaviour, but the way I met my requirement was using modelattribute. ModelAttribute can be used either on method or a parameter to a method. It ensures that model will made available to all the call till the view is render(that is my understanding!). So we don't need to take command object as parameter in Render method, just annotate the commandObject parameter in action method with ModelAttribute and then you can get the same object returned from model as suggested in the answer below.
I don't think the command/model object should be an argument/parameter in the render method. I have had the same issue trying to get the validation error messages when command/model is defined as argument in render method signature. I typically have the command/object creation/populate in a separate method, like this:

If I still need to access the ModelAttribute/command object from the render method, I typically get it by:

I'm using script functoids in my map. I configured script functoids using external assembly helper method of serializable class. I noticed that when map executes first time then calls Serializable helper class constructor defined in external assembly and I'm init. default value of class members and works as expected.
In next/second run, class constructor does not get called by map and class members persist value set during last execution of map. I'm using map inside orchestration and my orchestration is not singelton. So, helper class always returning same value to script functoid every time after first execution of my map.
Please help me how to force biztalk to create new instances of map helper class during every map execution???
The BizTalk runtime caches the extension object instances for a given map type. The constructor will only be called once for each host instance that's using it.
You can, however, create a factory class for your map helper. Call this factory class from a scripting functoid and link the output to an inline C# functoid that stores the object in an instance field in the map. You can the reference that field in other scripting functoids that need to call methods on your helper.
See this post regarding Biztalk external assembly calls. You cannot have a static class - the helper method must be static, but you need to perform your initializations each time in the static method. This is done for state management during rehydration/dehydration.
