Adding Google Analytics to CKeditor toolbar buttons - google-analytics

I'm trying to keep my Ckeditor 4 toolbar buttons to a minimum, but want figure out what buttons the users are using most.As such, I'm trying to add google analytics to toolbar button clicks.
Firing off a JS event to record the analytic is no problem. However, I'm having a hard time figuring out how to capture the click event of the toolbar item specifically. Is there an event callback I can bind to? Thanks.
Ideally, this does not have to use the jquery ckeditor connector as I have managed to not use that yet. Although, it is ok to use Jquery itself.

I think I figured it out. There appears to not be a way to do this at the CKEDITOR class level, however it can be done at the individual editor level.
Inside of my instanceReady handler, I can add afterCommandExec event handler.
CKEDITOR.on('instanceReady', function (e) {
var textarea_id, editor;
textarea_id = e.editor.name;
editor = CKEDITOR.instances[textarea_id];
// Attach handler for events
editor.on('afterCommandExec', function (evt) {
// Record Analytic of toolbar bar & keypress events
// See http://docs.ckeditor.com/#!/api/CKEDITOR.command-property-state for vals
var cmd_name, cmd_prev_state, cmd_new_state;
cmd_name = evt.data.name;
cmd_prev_state = evt.data.command.state;
cmd_new_state = evt.data.command.previousState;
console.log([cmd_name, cmd_prev_state, cmd_new_state]);
// Call analytics event next ...
});
})

How to attach a callback to a custom confirmation dialog in Google App Maker?

I am creating a custom confirmation dialog in Google App Maker and would like the Confirm button to call a passed-in function. I don't see an "onclick" event in the button widget. Any suggestions on how to do this?
function confirmationDialog(msg, confirmFunction)
{
var desc = app.pageFragments.ConfirmationDialog.descendants;
var label = desc.Label;
var confirmButton = desc.Confirm;
label.text = msg;
confirmButton.onClick = confirmFunction; // does not work
app.showDialog(app.pageFragments.ConfirmationDialog);
}
Thanks
It'd be great if this was a bit easier, but the best bet is to use Custom Properties (https://developers.google.com/appmaker/ui/viewfragments).
You can set up a custom property of type "Dynamic" and call it anything, take "onConfirmCallback", for example. Then you can set the function on that custom property:
Code to invoke dialog:
app.pageFragments.ConfirmationDialog.properties.onConfirmCallback = function(param) {
alert(param);
};
app.showDialog(app.pageFragments.ConfirmationDialog);
And then in the onClick for the close button:
app.pageFragments.ConfirmationDialog.properties.onConfirmCallback("hi");
app.closeDialog();
Also note that there are slightly better ways to set up labels than in your example, also using custom properties.
Create custom properties for any widget properties you want to customize, and then bind those custom properties (#properties.propertyName) to the widget property. For example you might have a confirmText property, with the confirm buttons text property boudn to #properties.confirmText.
Then when you invoke your dialog, you can just set those custom properties. Quick modification of your example code using properties for everything:
function confirmationDialog(msg, confirmFunction)
{
var properties = app.pageFragments.ConfirmationDialog.properties;
properties.text = msg;
properties.confirmCallback = confirmFunction;
app.showDialog(app.pageFragments.ConfirmationDialog);
}
For my confirmation dialogs, I just set the onclick of the OK button before I show the dialog (everything is in one place, which is easier for the dummy (me) who will have to maintain it in six months:
var dialog=app.pages.ConfirmationDialog;
dialog.descendants.message.text='Are you sure...?'
dialog.descendants.btnOk.getElement().onclick=function(){
//do something here
app.closeDialog();
});
};
app.showDialog(dialog);
}

How to know which button of User Control is clicked from parent form Asp.net?

I want to capture which button is clicked in page load method of code behind file.
Button is user control button and It does not post back. Since it used by many other forms, I don't want to changes that button.
I tried this
Dim ButtonID As String = Request("btnRefresh.ID")
But it doesn't work.
Is it possible to know without touching in user control and using Javascript?
Thank you
As described here How to check whether ASP.NET button is clicked or not on page load:
The method: Request.Params.Get("__EVENTTARGET"); will work for
CheckBoxes, DropDownLists, LinkButtons, etc.. but this does not work
for Button controls such as Buttons and ImageButtons
But you have a workaround, first of all you have to define a hidden field in the Parent Page. In this field you will store which button inside the user control was clicked using javascript/jquery. And then in your Parent Page Page_Load method you just read the hiddenField.Value property:
JQuery
1) Add listener to every input type submit button:
$(document).ready(function () {
$("input[type=\"submit\"]").on("click", function () {
alert(this.name);
$("#hiddenField1").val(this.name);
});
});
2) [Better one] Add listener to some indentificable div inside the user control and delegate the event to child inputs like this:
$(document).ready(function () {
$("#someElementOfUserControl").on("click", "input[type=\"submit\"]", function () {
alert(this.name);
$("#hiddenField1").val(this.name);
});
});
Javascript
Since everything done with JQuery can be done with Javascript you can do the following (i will not write both samples, just one):
function handleClick(event) {
alert(event.target.name);
document.getElementById("hiddenField1").value = event.target.name;
}
var inputsInUC = document.getElementsByTagName('input');
for (i = 0; i < inputsInUC.length; i++) {
inputsInUC[i].addEventListener('click', handleClick, false);
}
Remember to define this javascript after all your html elements.
EDIT:
Also, for the completeness of the answer let me tell you that the proper way in case you can change the user control behaviour is to use events as described here How do i raise an event in a usercontrol and catch it in mainpage?

ASP GridView to be updated automatically when ModalDialog is closed

I have a gridView with search and filtering options, it is listing document from SharePoint Library, when i click on the Document name i added a Modal popup to display Documents properties page, if i update Document's title for example and select save, the item is updated but the gridview is still showing the old title, i need to press Search again in order to refresh the values.
the code i use for model popup is:
<script type="text/javascript">
function openModal(url) {
var options = SP.UI.$create_DialogOptions();
options.url = url;
options.dialogReturnValueCallback = Function.createDelegate(null, CloseCallback);
SP.UI.ModalDialog.showModalDialog(options);
}
// Dialog callback
function CloseCallback(result, target) {
if (result === SP.UI.DialogResult.OK) {
SP.UI.ModalDialog.RefreshPage(SP.UI.DialogResult.OK);
}
}
</script>
what should i do to refresh and bid gridview data when the popup is closed?
on the click of save button, make a serverside call to rebind the gridview. i.e
$(document).ready(function(){
$('id_of_save_button').click(function(){
//ajax call of serverside method to rebind the grid.
});
});
However with asp.net these things become little easy if you use modalPopupExtender that ships with asp.net
Hi for handling sharepoint save event using javascript u can use this function
function PreSaveAction()
{
// write your gride view data bind code
}

hide/show a part of events in fullcalendar

I'm building a calendar-based web app with fullcalendar, which is for college students to use. There are some categories I've defined. e.g, sport, art, mind, etc... every event in the fullcalendar would be assigned to a category.
What i want to do is: there're some checkboxes corresponding categories on the top of the calendar, and the user can check or uncheck some checkboxed to hide/show the related events
how would I achieve this?
One way is to put appropriate classes on each event by setting the 'className' property on the event objects you're sending to the calendar and use jquery to hide those events (e.g. $(.myClassName).hide()) when they check the checkboxes. The trouble is the events would vanish leaving a gap where they were which might not be what you want.
A better way would be to add a filter function to the events option when you first call fullCalendar like this:
fullCalendar({
...
events: {
url: ....,
success: function(events) {
$.map(events, function (e) {
if (userHasFilteredOut(e))
return null;
else
return e;
});
},
...
});
This will filter out the events before they are displayed. The function userHasFilteredOut returns true if the event object passed in is of a class the user's checkbox values indicate is filtered out. When the user checks or unchecks a checkbox, you will need to refetch all the events from the server. You need to do this:
$('#mycal').fullCalendar('refetchEvents');

Jquery code on load not firing

I have the following JQuery code in a external JS file linked into a
usercontrol in .Net 1.1 webapp.
The usercontrol is a timesheet.
When the page loads it calls MonthChange and works fine in one page.
But now I want to load the timesheet/usercontrol into aother
webpage that pops up a in a new browser window for printing.
Problem is my MonthChange is not firing.
Any ideas why???
$(function() {
MonthChange();
//TestData();
$('[class^=TSGridTB]').blur(function() {
var day = GetDay($(this).attr('id'));
var date = GetRowDate(day);
var bgcolor = GetInputFieldColor(date, false);
$(this).css("background-color", bgcolor);
$(this).parent().css("background-color", bgcolor);
//CalcHours($(this).get(0));
});
$('[class^=TSGridTB]').focus(function() {
var day = GetDay($(this).attr('id'));
var date = GetRowDate(day);
var bgcolor = GetInputFieldColor(date, true);
$(this).css("background-color", bgcolor);
$(this).parent().css("background-color", bgcolor);
});
$('[id$=lstMonth]').change(function() {
MonthChange();
});
});
without seeing further code, ensure that the selector is correct for the control in the new page.
The problem may be that the DOM has changed for the new page/window and JQuery does not yet know about it.
The change event
fires when a control loses the input
focus and its value has been modified
since gaining focus.
You might want to use the live event:
Binds a handler to an event (like
click) for all current - and future -
matched element.
When you bind a "live" event it will
bind to all current and future
elements on the page (using event
delegation). For example if you bound
a live click to all "li" elements on
the page then added another li at a
later time - that click event would
continue to work for the new element
(this is not the case with bind which
must be re-bound on all new elements).
Did you make sure that the new web page has jQuery script includes?
ensure you're using:
$(document).ready(
);
around your entire code block. The $ alone often does not do the trick.
