Less not compiling in Webstorm 7 - css

I have an issue with LESS File watcher in Webstorm, doesn't want to compile into CSS.
I tried every possible websearch and advice during the last two days with no results.
Nodejs is installed correctly I believe, Path is set in the Enviroment variables (without the "\" at the end)
less module is installed as global (I used "npm install -g less")
path to C:\Users\myName\AppData\Roaming\npm is set too
File Watcher was prompt automatically in Webstorm so I just clicked "add file watcher".
After this it looks like Webstorm is actually trying to create the css file (with every change I can see the message "Executing LESS task" at the bottom), but doesn't create it.
I tried reinstall nodejs twice (I am using Windows 7 x64, Webstorm 7.0.1), I tried changing less compiler to this one (http://plugins.jetbrains.com/plugin/?idea&pluginId=7177) and this one (https://github.com/acdvorak/intellij-lessc-plugin), I tried different settings for all of them (Track only root files, create output file from stdout). I tried every possible combination and restarted my computer I don't know how many times in between... The css file is never created and I get this issue:
non_object_property_loadError: Cannot read property 'splice' of undefined in PathToMyWebsite\style.less on line null, column 0:
I tried different projects, even the ones that worked before and I get the same error message so I am positive my .less file is ok.
What did I miss? Maybe it is just a stupid rookie mistake but I just don't know where am I going wrong. Any help is much appreciated.
Please keep in mind that I am not a professional programmer, I am comfortable only with html/css so if I need to change something in code please be as specific as possible, thank you.

How do I stop vs code terminal from opening while writing code

I installed live sass compiler in vs code. No matter what I write inside scss file, the terminal keeps opening (watch the attached video for better understanding of the problem) Please suggest a way of running the compiler in background "SILENTLY".. Ah looks like I cannot add video here so I'm adding an image
settings > extensions > live sass compiler > show output window on
Set setting to warning or error. You can also use none if you want.
In the case of Sass live compiler vscode extension
Open Preferences -> Settings
Search Sass live compiler extension from the left column under Extensions category.
Then search Settings: Show Output Window On setting and set it to none from the dropdown.
It will fix your problem.
if you meant to say that your terminal is frequently opening while your coding in your vs code because of live server
install nodejs and npm install -g live-server
then open the windows terminal and cd into the directory of your project files
and then type live-server and hit enter
ik this is not the best answer and there might be a setting on vscode that can help you but this should work too
That is not the terminal, that is the output window, it displays all the extensions and their live logs. See picture. You cannot disable the outputs of the extensions unless you uninstall that specific extension.
If you don't want constant parsing results select a different window like problems or the actual terminal
Actually this was output window which kept opening to log the errors. My problem was solved by unchecking an option which (I am not sure) was under SAAS settings (dont remember exactly and also cant find again but somehow it got solved >>> Sorry I have low memory :)
You can use this instruction:
"liveSassCompile.settings.showOutputWindowOn": "None"
Just copy it to settings.json file of your Extension Live SASS compiler

Power BI Microsoft custom visual locked repo?

This is the link I will be referring to
I'm working with a Microsoft visual on Github. I have found a weird problem. No changes I make to the capabilities.JSON file will apply. I haven't even gotten the script to change. I went in and replaced all instances of the X axis variable with the Y, and vice-versa within the script.r file. Didn't work.
I have deleted the package-lock file, that didn't work. I even opened every single file in this visual folder, searched for the old variables for capabilities, and found nothing.
I went one step further and packaged the file to visualname.pbiviz, converted it to zip, opened the compressed file in a text editor, and still could not find anything that would revert it to the previous names.
The X axis is by default "X axis". I have changed it to be "Duration" in the capabilities.json file, but it will not stick.
If anyone has any insight as to what may be going on, or what Microsoft has done to prevent this visual from being modified, please inform me. I'm especially confused, because Microsoft has labeled this as an open source visual, yet changes are restricted. I'm new to creating/modifying visuals, so perhaps there is something I am just missing. Short of going in and deleting files at random, I'm out of ideas.
I found a way to get this working. I found a bunch of http imports and things like that. What I am assuming was happening is it would ping whatever online repo it was told to, and re-import the files from there before compressing to .pbiviz instead of actually using the files in the visual folder... I copied the two main files I needed (capabilities.json, and script.r) and pasted them into a blank template visual. Everything is working fine and I can continue working on this like normal.
This is based on the assumption that files were being re-imported from an external source before being compressed. If anyone knows for certain what is going on here, feel free to leave an answer.

How can/should I set my path.expand in RStudio per project?

My goal is to have path.expand to be automatically modified as I open a project, so that I don't have to keep writing fread(paste0(getwd(),"foo.csv") every time I load a new file, replacing it instead with fread("~.foo.csv")
I've found this question: address project root in Rstudio
Which seems to suggest that there is a .R_USER file per project in Rstudio. I have successfully been running an R studio project in a folder, and have 'unhidden' the the .Rproj_user folder, however, I am now at a loss to edit it. I'm seeing a tonne of different folders and don't really understand what I can edit, or how.
Is this the right path to expand upon? (jks), or is there a simpler and different way to do this? Is this even sensible? It seems like it is to me, but I'm new to all this, so please do say if this is stupid (and why).

XCode open file at error line for custom build script

I Apologize if this question has already been asked. i can't seem to find it anywhere if it has.
I have a custom build script use to syntax check some php files and upload them to a server, and this is executed as a part of the build process. since this script is used to parse inline php statements (embedded in objective c blocks using macros) it's fairly critical this script happens on each build. the actual execution is working fine, i'd just also like to be able to open a particular file when there is an error, and locate the cursor in the approximate location.
i have found that since xcode is configured on my system to open .php files by default (not sure if that's the norm or if i did it manually at some point), using
open filename.php
in a shell script opens the file.
i'd like to be able to specify the line number too.
eg something along the lines of
open filename.php --args --jump-to-line 1234
(--args is a switch for "open" meaning pass the arguments on to Xcode)
any ideas?
You can use the xed command. Only works for Xcode 3 though, not other editors. For Xcode 4, try this
See man xed

How do I get wkhtmltopdf running for a Drupal site on cPanel shared hosting?

First off, I will acknowledge that I am aware of another similar thread on the topic of wkhtmltopdf, but it was not similar enough to resolve my issue. Here's the other thread: wkhtmltopdf
Second, I will say that I have successfully used wkhtmltopdf with a Drupal site on a dedicated server that I run, where I installed the libX11 and used the most recent static version of wkhtmltopdf. That's on a CentOS 5 system and it runs nicely.
So, I have another hosting arrangement and I need to get the wkhtmltopdf to work, because it does the most amazing job producing bookmarked PDFs. The PDFs are beautiful.
The hosting is cPanel. I determined that it is on a server that has CentOS 5.5. It is not a problem to drop the static wkhtmltopdf in the print module's lib folder. However, I get the following message back in the Drupal admin status reports page (admin/reports/status).
It says,
"wkhtmltopdf library
The currently selected version of wkhtmltopdf () is not supported. Please update to a newer version."
I have obtained all of the needed .so files for CentOS 5, based on what jockie provided in his answer in the other StackOverflow thread.
Can someone knowledgeable confirm that his list was complete?
The idea of a shell script wrapper seems interesting and appears could be done for Drupal, if the naming of the shell script is called something like "wkhtmltopdf-wrapper.sh".
I have tried to use the shell script code that jockie provided, in a shell script. I did place all of the .so files in a sub-folder called "lib". I confess that I do not know what such things mean, in the script:
export HOME="$PWD"
Can someone interpret for me, what $PWD means?
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH="$PWD/lib/"
I understand that the script is going to get the .so files with that line, yes?
And can someone interpret the following line:
exec $# 2>/dev/null
What I am wondering is, where does the actual pdf get output? I did run the script. It did not throw any errors. However, I did not see a resulting PDF file.
Also, jockie's directions are not totally clear or defined enough. He says, "(some of them are symlinks)" under the list of .so files. Are such lines (in his list), the symlinks?:
lib/libX11.so.6 lib/libX11.so.6.2.0
Or am I mistaken? I was able to get all of them, so I don't know why they would be symlinks. The only thing is, that some of the versions are different. Do I need to delete the following files and make symlinks instead?:
lib/libX11.so.6
lib/libXau.so.6
lib/libxcb.so.1
lib/libXext.so.6
Should the shell script code be written differently, with Drupal in mind?
Thanks for reading and I hope someone can help!
...Finally, if anyone knows of a better solution, please share! Again, I appreciate the help!
...There does not seem to be a way, here on StackOverflow.com to notify jockie to check out this thread. I wish there was a way to write to them or notify them, so that they could clarify for them-self or contribute to this thread as well. If someone knows of a way, please let me know that too!
