Running an orchard site, recently up graded to 1.7.2. seems to work ok for a while then after a few day I get this exception on any of the blog posts pages.

Something similar happened to me but on a custom module ive created.
I re-started the App pool and was gone, although it came back afterwards again.
After looking around, i saw answers about NHibernate and its mappings file.
Delete the file and will be re-built, sometimes is gets corrupted.

So I am in the middle of migrating from SQL Server to PostgreSQL, and I am building a temporary solution for the migration period to allow my ASP.NET app to connect to my Heroku Postgres database and make use of Entity Framework etc.
So far I have managed to connect to the database from pgAdmin III for windows with no problems, but when connecting from ASP.NET app, I get this error:

The error is occurring as a result of your code trying to create a database. The error is indicating that the edition/performance level being created is not supported by your subscription offer type - a DreamSpark subscription is limited to creating free resources. See https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/offers/ms-azr-0144p/. Creating a database without specifying an edition will create a Standard S0 database by default, which is not free. If you create a free website or mobile service and elect to create a free Azure SQL Database as part of the template that should work for your subscription's offer type. You could then access this database from any application although it will have limited storage and performance.
You can put the default constructor to the DTO class.

Is illegal because EF needs to translate this into SQL, and you can't pass in object constructor like new Datetime(). The solution is simple: construct the object before trying to use it in the query
var date = new DateTime(2012, 5, 20);
List<reportModel> a = (from q in result
where q.etaDate >= date select q).ToList();
Assuming that result executes fine you can filter your queries like this:
if(filter)
{
var dateFilter = new DateTime(2012, 5, 20);
result = result.Where(x => x.etaDate >= dateFilter);
}
return result.ToList(); //or .ToArray()
I suggest you put a breakpoint after results executes and see if you have the proper reportModel.
result is alredy casted as an IQueryable, is there a particular reason why you want to cast it to a List?

Why is this happening?
Note:
It keeps getting odder and odder. As magically as the error started appearing (in a productive site some day without any updates or releases) not it has stopped. It's been three days without the error. However, I'd still like to know why was it.
It had nothing to do with the way of creating the checkbox. In some very odd scenarios (which I had forgotten at all), this forms may be submitted (from other sites) without this parameter. In this cases the bool field was trying to obtained from the string "-1".
One way of resolving this issue (that I have discovered to be a good practice) is to avoid "not-nullable" fields in the Model.
Just try this instead
Html.CheckBoxFor(model => model.RememberPassword , chkHtmlAttributes)
And define the chkHtmlAttributes to these
tabindex = "4", style = "width:15px"
