I'm new to Kafka and I'm test on hortonworks sanbox 2.3. I'm following kafka tutorial at

I already include all possible kafka jar in run-class.sh but still no luck. Please help!
You are missing jar with the class org.apache.hadoop.conf.Configuration which is not part of the Kafka library. It should be included in hadoop-common-2.5.0. You have to add this jar to the classpath.

Oozie not starting in Amazon EMR

I tried to install Apache oozie in EMR cluster. I am getting the error. “Error: IO_ERROR : java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused”.
Followed the below link for installation:
http://pkavuri.blogspot.in/2013/08/oozie-installation-is-simplified.html
I got the error after running the below command:
bin/oozie admin -oozie http://localhost:11000/oozie -status
The following steps I did after encountering the error:
Moved the Hadoop and common jar files to the folders
“/oozie-3.3.2/distro/target/oozie-3.3.2-distro/oozie-3.3.2/oozie-server/webapps/oozie/WEB-INF/lib”
and “oozie-3.3.2/distro/target/oozie-3.3.2-distro/oozie-3.3.2/lib/”
Downloaded derby in oozie-3.3.2/libext

Try creating a libext folder and put all hadoop jars , extjs jars in it . Then run oozie-setup.sh and then oozie-run.sh
In this case based on your logs i guess you are missing hadoop-core.jar.

java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: org.apache.lucene.analysis.payloads.PayloadEncoder
This is rather self-explaining. The mentioned class cannot be found in the runtime classpath.
Make sure that the mentioned class (or at least, the JAR file containing the class) is in the runtime classpath of the webapp. One of the folders covered by the webapp's default runtime classpath is the webapp's /WEB-INF/lib folder. Drop the necessary JARs in there.
As the package name hints, that class is part of Apache Lucene library. If you need to, you can just download it from over there.
