Im trying to configure log4j with a relative path to put the .log-Files to. Files are correctly getting generated when I specify a absolute path but are not generated AT ALL when i use something else. I tried the following
{CATALINA_HOME}
./filepath
${webapp.root} And setting the listeners and all that stuff, as described here HowTo configure....
I am working on a Mac with the Spring Source Tools and the project I created with the Spring Source Tools put the log4j.xml into src/main/resources and NOT into the WEB-INF folder as stated in most of the tutorials. I tried variant 3 (webapp.root...) and it actually finds the log4j.xml where I declare it (I put it into WEB-INF and it works) but still no logging to a file when I use ${webapp.root}.
How do you solve that problem? This is horrible, I cant push this stuff to our repo with an absolute path to my user-dir??

In appenders in src/main/resources/log4j.xml
we use
<param name="file" value="${catalina.home}/logs/catalina.out"/>

I have set up a Typo3 project and I am using the Bootstrap Kickstart Package extension. So far everything works, but for example the CSS files are not loaded (see screenshot). If I call the paths in Explorer, all files are available. Can someone here help me?
Do you use the .htaccess of TYPO3? You can find it in the typo3_src folder and move it to your root directory. Without it, the timestamps of the files ?12345 will be interpreted wrong.
Seems it could not get a proper path to the assets. Please check your baseUrl and absRefPrefix
in the setup ts. Check property below:
config.baseURL = http://localhost/project/
config.absRefPrefix = project/
Generally, absRefPrefix required in the local server it does not require at the live server.
Second possibility permission issue, please check directory permission.

This is the the picture of my project.
I have my css file in static/css folder and I am trying to link it with my index.jsp page but it's not working.
NB : Hard refresh, cache clear everything is done and I have tried more than 10 times. :( is there any other way to link up css with spring boot application?
In the Spring-boot documentation you can read where Spring-boot reads static resources by default.
By default Spring Boot will serve static content from a directory
called /static (or /public or /resources or /META-INF/resources) in
the classpath or from the root of the ServletContext. It uses the
ResourceHttpRequestHandler from Spring MVC so you can modify that
behavior by adding your own WebMvcConfigurerAdapter and overriding the
addResourceHandlers method.
If you change the location of your static files to the default one you should be able to reach them by /css/style.css
P.S. here you can find a simple good structured example.
For me now I just put my CSS, JS, images in src/main/resources/static folder and the link is like :
/css/style.css or /js/custom.js
is working fine for spring boot application.
The solution to your problem is very simple, just add to your application.properties file (your configuration file) the next 2 lines of code:
spring.resources.chain.strategy.content.enabled=true
spring.resources.chain.strategy.content.paths=/**
this will bust the cache in your browser, and when you'll make changes regarding to static content (like: css files, js files, html files), it will take place.

I have the following bundle in my BundleConfig:
bundles.Add(new StyleBundle("~/Content/Basic/globalCss").Include("~/Content/Basic/global.css"));
I am using the following to render the CSS bundle:
#Styles.Render("~/Content/Basic/globalCss")
On my local machine (debug environment) the CSS file is included/loaded via its absolute path. I have compilation turned off/false for debug, so this makes sense. When I push to a QA environment (compilation turned on/true), I see the following virtual path being included in the page:
<link href="/Content/globalbasicCss?v=6i8x1Cxf8pXm5g9uxAk8-wcO02DFmeAgYLWpJk-3r_g1" rel="stylesheet">
This was the old virtual path that I had was ~/Content/globalbasicCss.
Why is my bundle not using the new virtual path I provided ~/Content/Basic/globalCss? Is this because there were no changes made to the CSS file included in the bundle, by any chance?
That is the bundling and minification feature. Your CSS bundle is minified and if you had more files they would be bundled in one file.
This happens when you usually build in release mode with the web.config setting

Turns out I needed to make changes to the actual bundled CSS files in order for that bundle virtual path to update. I'm not sure why this is, and would appreciate anyone with better understanding of ASP.NET bundling explaining why this happens this way.
Well i have a working spring-boot app that is running on a local computer just fine. However I noticed that when i do mvn package then none of my css or java scripts, locates in
/src/main/wepapp/css
are being copied into the jar file (package) created in the target directory.
spring boot reference guide says
65.3 Convert an existing application to Spring Boot "Static resources can be moved to /public (or /static or /resources or
/META-INF/resources) in the classpath root."
24.1.4 Static Content "Do not use the src/main/webapp folder if your application will be packaged as a jar. Although this folder is a
common standard, it will only work with war packaging and it will be
silently ignored by most build tools if you generate a jar."
So that means that i can put all my js and css folders into the folder
/src/main/resources/static
i.e. now my structure looks like that
/src/main/resources/static/css/
/src/main/resources/static/js/
all of my thymeleaf templates however are still located in
/src/main/resources/templates/
I did that, and as far as i understand know i need to add the ResourceHandler to my ResourceHandlerRegistry. Previously when all of my ccs were in "/src/main/wepapp/css/" my ResourceHandlers looked like that and it worked very well for me.

The html templates are displayed but the web browser console is reporing 404 when trying to locate /css/corresponing.css or /js/corresponing.js
I have deliberately disabled Spring security in my test project, in order to simplify debugging of this problem.
One more thing thing that i do not completely understand is the deployment assembly. I have read an article that said that when i do want to have particular folders into my target package jar file generated by maven, i do need to include those folder into my deployment assembly, well i did however "mvn package" is still not copping all of the content(inlcuding subfolders) of my /src/main/static folder into the target jar file. I see however the "templates" folder copied into the jar file. So there is some other magic happening behind the scene.
Here is how do i declare the css in my thymeleaf layout i.e.

I'm working with Umbraco 4.7.1 and I've created some extensions that hook into Document.AfterPublish and Document.AfterUnPublish. I need to find the directory of the config files from here, but need to be independent of server installation (i.e. a literal won't work). Is there any way of finding this at that point in time?
I think what you are looking for is the umbraco.IO.SystemDirectories class, specifically the Config property.
This will return "~/config" by default, but can be overridden by adding a umbracoConfigDirectory key to the appSettings section of the web.config file and specifying a different path there.
