For a Drupal site I'm building, I've used the Views module to create a custom view that shows the top 10 most popular taxonomy terms. I'd like this list to show up in my site's header but I'm having trouble accomplishing this. I can get the header to display a link to the page for the view, but haven't figured out how to actually display the content of the view in the header node.
Also, if there's a better way of accomplishing what I'm trying to do, I'm all ears!
You should create view with the "block" display. This block can be placed in any region using standard block/theme functionality.
If you don't have "header" region, you can create your own. See this link for details.

Maybe, i do not quite understand you question (actually, phrase "header node" confused me, you mean header area/region?). If you need to display view on the node page, you can use views_attach ot eva modules.
Option 1:
Create a region in your theme.
Render the region on your theme page.tpl.php
Create a block display of you view and assign it to that region.
Option 2
You can create a view and then embed it in your theme file using views_embed_views. For details https://api.drupal.org/api/views/views.module/function/views_embed_view/7

I am using Drupal 8.
I am trying to create a block display to show a list of teasers with the taxonomy term of the current node, within a custom region.
The problem is that when I navigate to the page which contains the custom region no content is displayed.
Other blocks display fine when assigned to the custom region so I don't think its anything to do with my templates.
The same view also has a page display (basically the default taxonomy term view) which shows content correctly when i navigate to the node.
I am a relative Drupal newbie so may be missing something obvious here but as far as i can tell the taxonomy view works as a page but not as a region, so either it must be something to do with the block configuration, or Drupal is just not meant to work like this.
Can anybody suggest what might be causing this, or if this is a bad approach explain why?

I've been making a template for a particular content type, but just ran into a problem: I need to embed a view into the content type.
I am aware this can be done via several different methods, but I don't see one that fits exactly my needs:
I need the view added automatically for all pages of that content type.
Using blocks in a region is not an option, as I want to avoid defining a region in the middle of a page that should only be available for a specific content type.
Translatable label.
Possibility to freely apply a template to all fields in the content type (excluding the embedded view).
I tried doing it via page layout (Panels) and simply adding node content fields and the view to my layout regions, but then I get another problem: I can't style my content fields without doing something that seems a bit over the top:
Currently I have about 20 different content fields in the content type that are wrapped in HTML and styled in my template file. I have a translated label for each of these in the template file. From what I can tell I'd have to add a template for each of the panes containing content fields to add my translated labels and HTML needed to style each field.
I'm not really fond of making 20 templates, 20 theme hook suggestions to get the templates to work and 20 regions in the panel layout just to get a view inserted in the content type.
Am I doing something terribly wrong here? Any suggestions?
You may want to try the Viewfield module or similar modules (search for "view field" or "view reference").
If you are doing something more complex like changing/filtering the view based on some value in your content type, then you may have to use Viewfield module in combination with something else that will help fill in the filter values.
I've never done something like this before so I'm not sure exactly what module combination would work but Rules or Computed Field come to mind as possible helpers.
You have to use "views node field" http://drupal.org/project/viewsnodefield, after installing this module you have to select the "Node content" in the display (like blocks,page). then click the add display. if you want to display the content like this page http://www.richtown.ae/?q=content/arabian-ranches then you have to download the views_galleriffic module and install it and choose the style option "Galleriffic Gallery". You can choose the content type by using the filter in the views.

Let's say you have a content type named 'Product'
You want to attach a view to it.
Here are the steps using the eva module :
On your view edit page :
Section Displays
+Add : Eva field
Section ENTITY CONTENT SETTINGS
Entity type:Node
Bundles:Product
That's it, going to a node product type will now display the view
I have created a page view using field style to display a list of teasers as I want. fields configuration in views allows us to link the field to it's node. but what if we have created view for node detail page and want field to link to it's relevant view.
I had the same question, and after a bit of research this is what I've concluded:
The views module isn't intended to replace a default node view. I say this because of the level of difficulty involved in doing this and the lack of information on how to accomplish this. Ryan Weal has posted a way to accomplish this by editing your node template that doesn't look too difficult to accomplish, and here is the link.
However, it seems that a more popular solution, especially if you are like me and don't like to get into editing theme files. You can use the Display Suite module to effectively reformat the default node content as you would like.
I'm not sure if I understand you properly, but it sounds like you are wanting to display a view in a page view of a node?
In order to do this, you could:
create a small module, using hook_nodeapi() or one of the D7 replacements for this function in order to insert the output of the embedded view into this page's content, by conditionally adding a $content element when the node is of the appropriate id
or (easier, but requires allowing input type PHP) embed the view right on the page.

How can I embed a node on the front page in Drupal 6. The node basically has the image upload field along with title and description. I want it to some how appear on the homepage alongwith a "views" which shows the uploaded images at the bottom.
What I want is to give the users an ability to create content which is right now available at .../node/photo/add. I want to somehow show this box which lets one create content i.e. upload photo with title and description on the homepage.
It's basically just an attempt at creating something like imageshack as an experiment.
I am pretty n00b when it comes to drupal so please be more descriptive.
Jukebox's solution works as a point-and-click method. If you want to do it with code, it's more like this:

You can use the Node Blocks module to, well, turn your node into a block. This means that you can go to the /admin/build/block page and place your node in a particular region.
After installing the module, edit the Content Type of the node you want to turn into a block. Under Workflow Settings, Available As Block, choose Enable.
Now you can go to /admin/build/block and you can see some new blocks. Just choose the one you want and place it in the region of your choice. You can also configure that block's visibility settings from there as well.
If your planning on having a more complicated home page at any point in the future I'd highly recommend using Panels to do this. It will allow you to arrange your front page with views and nodes in a grid method.

Using Views 2.x for Drupal 6.x it's simple to create a block from a view. Every view has a set of 'default' settings and some number of display settings. A display can be a page, a block, a feed or anything else that creative module authors.
To make a block from your view, you just "Add Display" of type "block", override any settings that you want changed in the block (IE - display less items, just a node title, whatever). You then have a block that you can place like any other Drupal block.
edit: Answer to "Can you limit stories to ones that are tagged"? Sure thing. You just add a filter for Taxonomy terms.
Getting a view to display in a block is easy. Once you have created a view and assigned the view as a block position you simply head to blocks in your admin and you'll see the view.
Just select the block and save it. Simple.
If your view doesn't show, check your filters and that the view fields are correct. Usually if they are not showing it is something simple like selecting content published = yes.
You can create views as pages or blocks. As you're not telling exactly which Drupal/Views version you're working with, all I can tell so far is that, after you create the view, you can tell it to display as a block or as a page.
Then go to the blocks settings and set that to the position you want.
