Shaky CSS3 width transition in WebKit - css

I'm working on an animation using packery. Tiles are aligned in a grid and clicking on one is supposed to enlarge it and dynamically rearrange the tiles accordingly. The resizing is animated using CSS3 transitions. All of this works as expected in IE10 and Firefox, as demonstrated in the following codepen: http://codepen.io/anon/pen/ilkmK
The same code in WebKit-based browsers (tested on Windows) produces a frantic wiggle / shaking of the box as it is resized and repositioned.
I already submitted an issue and the problem seems to be that width and height transitions in WebKit are not optimized. Implementing the same animation using jQuery.animate improved the situation a little bit, but it doesn't get rid of the wiggle. Especially on slower systems it remains very noticable.
For now I'm using the JavaScript version as a slightly better fallbackf or webkit browsers, but it's not optimal. I have no idea where to go from here, so I was hoping Stackoverflow could help me out.
For any hints on how to make this work in Chrome/Safari, I'd be very grateful.

I just tried this in Chrome on mac and it's working fine, so I can't replicate the problem. However I have a feeling this might be to do with the fact that when webkit browsers load a page they initially generate images with 0 dimensions.
Try putting your jQuery in $(window).load(function(){ instead of $(document).ready(function(){
That would wait for images to load before executing the script.

Google Chrome CSS transition text rendering visual glitch

I do not know how it has happened, because it worked properly at some point, but after doing some changes, I think to the main scroll container layer of the page, this started happening.
It is a weird visual glitch, I am not able of reproducing it, all that I can say is that the transition is a CSS transition with transform: translateX() and that while the transition is running both elements (new and old) get an absolute position that its remove once the animation ends. Also, there aren't any text-shadows in place.
I does not happen in firefox nor in chrome mobile, and it does not happen always, depends on if I have or not the developer tools opened, I think it might be because of the change in viewport resolution when those are open.

Seems it has to do with multiple layers of nested animations.

CSS 3D transform Firefox problems

I am trying to implement some css3 involving 3D transforms in a new project i am working on.Although i managed to overcome the limited InternetExplorer support i am having problems making Firefox work.
There seems to be excessive flickering when transforms take place either i use the rotateY(deg) or rotate3d(x,y,z,angle) method and only in Firefox. In Chrome or even in Internet Explorer they work fine.

Is there a way to fix and still have a 3d effect that will work in all three Firefox,Chrome and IE?
Edit2: I can confirm flickering in Firefox version 26.0.

Edit3: The flickering for #test3d is extremely bad. The animation is rendered completely unviewable and seems to back-track several times before finishing.

Positioning of divs off in Firefox/Camino?

So, I have written out a site in HTML and CSS, and all looked fine and dandy in Safari, Chrome, OmniWeb... even Opera. Then I tested in Firefox and Camino (which I believe uses the same rendering engine as Firefox) and was unpleasantly surprised: some of the positioning of my divs was off - noticeably off - by at least 5 pixels. While that might not seem like a whole lot, I use divs to put borders around things that I would otherwise have difficulty with putting borders around (jquery image gallery, for example), so 5 pixels matters quite a bit.
My question is this - what other quirks does Firefox's rendering engine put in, and how can I get around them? Are there special properties I need to add to my CSS in order to make it behave the same for Firefox/Camino?

You should look into using a css reset, this will give you a blank slate and will for the most part normalize how browsers render the box model.

Best way of achieving this background vignetting effect?

I want to have a vignetting effect on the background of a page I´m building. This is the page:

I managed to get the effect I´m looking for in Firefox, and it seems to work ok. In Safari I get some kind of vignetting, though not quite what I´m looking for and the inset shadow slows the page down tremendously for some reason. Im using Safari 5.
I don't think it works in Explorer at all and I don't know about Chrome and Opera.
Is there a smarter way of achieving this effect on the background?
You're applying the effect correctly, however, these effects are
Not fully supported, which explains your problem with IE

Still, time is on your side. Support will only improve. For a web-site still in development, I'd say stick with the CSS3 techniques rather than older, hackier solutions.
You could also try a gradient in the background. Might be more consistent.

IE8's rendering of transparent pngs is FUBARed on my site

I just downloaded the IE8 full release so I could test a site I just created.

Focus on the left sidebar background image. It is suppose to be a 1x1 semi-transparent .png image that repeats. IE8 renders it as a gradient!!! It get's even wonkier when you try to scroll your window or mouse-over the sidebar.
I had already tested this site in the normal browsers (IE7, Firefox, and Chrome). It looks exactly as I designed it in these. IE8 is FUBARed though. I tried to set IE8 to "IE7" mode but it still looks crappy. IE 8 in IE7 mode obviously isn't rendering the same way as the real IE7. Not even the "IE7 meta tag" works.
Has anyone else had problems like this? I thought IE8 was supposed to be a an improvement, not a step backwards.
P.S. Please excuse the crappy markup on this page. I used IE's "save entire page" feature.
It may be a rendering error in IE8, or perhaps it's some function to smooth the edges of repeated images that gives you an unexpected result. Either way it's not very surprising that you get problems using such a small image. Do you realize that the browser has to draw the image 190152 times to render the page?
I am using a 10x10 semi transparent png as background for a div in a page, and it renders just fine in IE8.
I fixed the bug and it isn't the gamma issue that is mentioned in that other post. My issue was being caused by the fact that the image is 1x1 pixel in size. I just changed it to 1x2 and it fixed the problem. Weird

I had a similar issue with a site I'm building. The issue only occurred on 50% of the machines with ie8 it was tested on, I was building it for an IT firm so had access to lots of computers. We were able to "fix" the problem by toggling Hardware Acceleration on the problem machines, not that thats really a fix at all.

I was also experiencing the issue on 50% of the computers running IE8 (had access to quite a few machines). When I had a 1x1px semi-transparent png set as a background image on a div with CSS, IE would render this as a funky vertical, transparent gradient.
Changing the source image to a 5x5px png of the same opacity fixed the bug... go IE!
The problem was my original png was
1×1, and for whatever reason IE8 was
not liking trying to tile that and
handle the alpha transparency at the
same time. When I accidentally saved
that image with a much larger copy I
had on my clipboard, 100×100, it ended
up fixing whatever problem Internet
Explorer was having with processing
