Though CentOS 6.2 32bit is on the list of supported operating systems, Cloudera manager installer fails to start saying "cannot execute binary file"
It seems this installer doesn't support 32bit platforms any-longer.
ANyone knows way around?
64-bit is required, yes.
For further questions you may want to consider posting on Cloudera's own forum on this subject.

I've been using redth's maui-check tool. It works great on windows. It runs fine on my intel mac. On my m1 mac mini, it installs. However, it does not run. zsh reports that the command is not found. I have installed the .net 6 core p4 build for arm macs. I have also installed previous versions of .net core and mono. Any ideas on this?
So, the summary of items that I had to install are:
.NET Core 3.1 for Mac x64. This resolves and issue about the version of maui-check assumes is on the system.
.NET Core 6 for Mac x64. This resolved a really weird startup error in maui-check.
.NET Core 6 for Mac arm. Duh.
added my maui-check to the local path.
Once I did all of that, everything seems to be working now. It is currently stumbling through a major set of updates. I've found maui-check to run really well on my other systems. I just need to run it multiple times because it sometimes misses things. Great job Jon!
Use Google which will lead you to this: https://github.com/Redth/dotnet-maui-check/issues/15
I read the docs refer to Windows and Ubuntu for the installation of Corda. I rarely use Windows these days.
Can Corda work under Ubuntu?
I would prefer to install under Ubuntu.
Yes, Corda runs fine where ever a JAR file can run.
So, like many others I've found on the net, I have installed Qt (Qt 5.2.1 for Windows 64-bit (VS 2012, OpenGL, 553 MB)) and realized that I do not have the MSVC2012 compiler that was used to build this version of Qt.
I come here to ask, is it necessary to literally install the entire MSVC2012 IDE in order to get this version of Qt to work, or can I somehow just install the needed compiler? If so, where might that be available for download? I have done searches and cannot find just the compiler. I have found the compiler bundled with various other software that I do not think I need, but I do not want to go through great effort to find out that I made another mistake.
Alternatively, Qt compiled with minGW is also available, but only for 32 bit. I understand that some 32 bit programs will run on 64 bit machines, but how can you know for sure?
You can install Visual Studio 2012 Express which is free and contains the necessary compiler. After that, you have to also install Windows Kits to get the standalone debugger. Alternatively, you can install Windows 7.1 SDK which does not come with IDE but with compilers and debuggers. Windows 7.1 SDK correspond to Visual Studio 2010. But beware, Windows 7.1 SDK has many bugs, and I would not recommend it unless you are targeting Windows XP.
As for MinGW, yes you can also run 32bit programs on 64 bit, but I personally advise you against MinGW. Its integration with Windows is flaky, and its compile speed is far inferior to MSVC's.
I am trying to install the correct Oracle drivers on my development machine. I'm creating an ASP.NET web site and every time I run I get an error saying that says "The provider is not compatible with the version of Oracle client". I have tried both 32-bit and 64-bit Oracle drivers but have still had no luck. Can someone lead me to a link for the drivers I need based on my specs?
I'm using Windows 8 64-bit. The database is Oracle 11.2.0.2.0 - 64 bit.
The ODAC112021Xcopy_x64.zip might give you the dll's and client you'll need. Take a look at this previous answer for more detail about deployment of the application.
We are developing a Data Synapse calc node process in C# that requires functionality in a Win32 DLL. We have no problems building this.
The question is it has to run on a Windows 64 bit system, with Data Synapse 5.1 Grid APIs for Windows 64. While Windows 64 will run most processes transparently using WOW we don't know that Data Synapse's 64 bit will in some way stop this from working?
Anyone done this?
8 Jun 2009: Update.
when we try to run a win32 service on the win64 grid we run into problems because on Win64 the grid code intrastructure runs as 64 bit Java. This java calls our service using a win64 JINI call to our service which is implemented as a DLL. Unfortunately as a Win32 DLL.
Do you want your C# code to run as a .NET service? .NET Services run in-process and as far as I know, there is no way of mixing 32bit and 64bit code within a single process.
I see two solutions
1) Run 32bit DataSynapse engines OR
2) Run the C# code in a surrogate 32bit process. Use some form of IPC to communicate between some stub code running in the engine process and the surrogate process.
I believe this infrastructure has already been built by DataSynapse for C/C++ code and is called IsolateService. To use IsolateService a simple C->.NET bridge would need to be developed on the remote end or a .NET executable wrapper developed to host the .NET dll and handle COMs.

Maybe you can install and run a win32 engine at the win64 machine, in that case everything is in WOW.
If you try to install a win32 engine on a win64 machine, make sure that your installed manager is ALSO USING a 32 bits JDK Java (look for the environment variable JAVA_HOME).
So, in order to have a 32-bit running on a 64-bit machine, you must have a 32-bit Java JDK, and the DataSynapse manager must have been installed pointing to the 32-bit Java machine (when installing the manager, the JAVA_HOME variable should be pointing to the 32-bit version).
