I am building a Wordpress site, but I'm struggling to find a good plugin to achieve a few things...
Basically I want to make the website a central hub of a lot of my social networks, without me having to continaully update things in several places. So I'm wanting to do the following:
Every time I post a new Tweet, I want it to create a new Blog post on my website in the Tweet category. The post should have a default featured image and a I should also be able to set where the Tweet is displayed (i.e. in the title and post content) and if anything else is displayed after the tweet (like a follow button) for example.
Secondly, every time I upload a new video to YouTube, I want it to create a new blog post on my site in the Video category (and preferably in the Video Post Type) automatically. Again, I should have control over what is pulled into the post other than the video... for example description, tags etc. I would also like it to set the Featured Image of the post to one of the three still images that YouTube creates for a video.
Is the above achievable, and how would I go about figuring it out?

I am currently working on a website in which one of the category only serves as a way to curate news on the net and then, share it on the front page and on Twitter.
The post itself is empty, I use a custom field to receive the URL from the user, grab a few things from the target website, update the permalink and save. Upon saving, SNAP publishes the post on Twitter.
My issue is that it is not using the permalink but the url of the post itself (which is absolutely empty). Having a look into the plugin's code, I saw that it was using post metas (most notably urlToUse, snap_MYURL) but couldn't determine if it was a priority issue or something else.
I also try to adjust my code to set these meta values to the url I want, to no avail.
Is there a way I could set my custom functions or the SNAP plugin so that the permalink is used ?
No answer after a week, neither here nor from SNAP's support. No problem.

SNAP for the Facebook ones thanks to their ability of posting based on a specific category

I'm pretty sure this is basic but it's been a couple of weeks I'm struggling.
I'm building a video game news type of website with Wordpress and I would like the "game sheet" to work in the same way the WordPress plugin page works (here is an example: http://wordpress.org/plugins/buddypress/ )
The idea would be to have a page for each game and then this page would pull out content in each tabs to display different content:
News would be articles with the game name as a tag
Screeshots would be images from the media manager I would have tagged with the name of the game
Game review and user voting in the sidebar
etc...
Again, this seem to be a very basic taxonomy/custom post type system but I just don't know where to start and I can't find the right words to explain it to do a proper google search.

What you need is to create a "custom post type". In other words, something like a post, but with more / different fields. I suggest you use the plugin: "custom content type manager".
After you create the custom post type you need, you will only have to create a page / post the summarizes the custom content you have built. For that you will also use the same plugin.
I'm coding a wordpress for a band and on their discography page they want the following:
Album cover image
Title
Release date
List of 10 or so songs that they can click to play...
Then next to EACH song needs to be 5 different icons (video, lyrics, play, amazon link, itunes link).
At first I was going to use a custom post type, but considering that's only 1 dimension of data i dont know what to do, as they have to add like 10 songs for each album, and then the 5 urls associated with each song.
How might i do this with custom post types? or is there a plugin that could help?
For something like that, look into Custom Fields (http://codex.wordpress.org/Custom_Fields).

Though it is possible (but a lot to explain) to code them yourself. The aforementioned plugin will do a lot of that for you.
First, I've only programmed a lot of HTML, know a little PHP and am playing with Wordpress, experimenting and learning it the way I learn everything else, trial and error, heavy on the error.
The subject line isn't very clear I'm sure. I have a site set up for writing. The posts act as categories and to a Page menu for static submissions. All posts, in the theme show up on page 1, 2, etc. Great.
What I'm trying to figure out and want is this. I want a separate section of Posts just for one topic, in this case movie reviews. So the main section of the site is general posting. I want a separate section where users can post to their hearts content but have those movie posts REMAIN in one section and not be mixed in with the "general population." Ok, they click on the Movie Review link on the main page. This takes them to the Site Admin where they can write a review in TinyMCE and Publish it. IS there a way that these Posts can show up in a section of their own?
I've even installed a second WP site for this purpose. Wonderful, but now I have to transfer all registered users there and any new ones. That's insane. Plus, the user would have to log in twice, once for the original and once for the Movie WP. Also unacceptable.
If I'm on the wrong site to ask this question, let me know and my apologies. Otherwise, some guidance would keep me from my endless Google search.
You can use Categories to mimic this. So your movie reviews would be at mysite.com/category/movie-reviews/. You would then modify index.php to exclude the movie reviews category from the main page.
If you're comfortable with using php, you could instead use custom post types. This is a better solution, but would require more custom coding. The bottom of the Codex page I linked to has some excellent walkthroughs on using CPTs.
I'm implementing our school's website using WordPress as CMS. So far, it works well and I'm 80% done. Our website is basically 11 WordPress pages and a blog.
Now, there is one feature i'm not sure how to resolve. We want to have "testimonies" of past students to be displayed across WordPress pages, in a specific area of the page. They will either be videos or written text with an image.
They will be embedded on regular WordPress pages either a specific video for a specific page, or just random testimony video for a given page.
Is it possible to do that with WordPress? If so, how?

There are quite a few Wordpress plugins which handle testimonials gracefully:

You should be able to do this with categories. Create a testimony category and and then create a new template called 'testimony-page.php'. In that template, put a separate loop that pulls a random testimony from the database. Voila, page in a page.

To manage my custom post types.
To query posts from a new post type, use something like:
query_posts({
'post_type' => 'testimonials'
});
So, if you wanted to add testimonials to your site, you'd query them like above with whatever parameters you need, and do a simple loop to output the posts.
