I'd like to bundle javafx 2.1 with my install4j installer, I know I can acheive this by manually depending on the specific .dll and .jar files. But I'd like to do this in the same simple manner that I do when bundling the JRE, is there a way of doing this? If not, will this feature be available soon(or at all) ?
The pre-made Java 7 JRE bundles that are downloadable in the install4j IDE already include JavaFX, so you don't have to do anything.
Starting with install4j 8.x, you can choose the Liberica JDK provider to get JavaFX for both Java 8 and Java 9+.

When I create a Java Web project in NetBeans and select a Framework, in this case Spring Web MVC, only two options appear:
Version 4.0.1
Version 3.2.7
You can do this in Netbeans:
Download the Spring Framework you need from here
Extract the contents of the archive and copy the contents of the lib directory to your netbeans location e.g /home/stanley/netbeans-8.2/java/modules/ext/spring-(version) e.g 5.1.4
On your netbeans go to Tools > Libraries > New Library
Name your Library as Spring Framework (version) e.g 5.1.4 and add all the jars from the location in 2 above.
Restart your netbeans application.
You should have the new Framework as shown in the diagram below:
TL;DR
The easiest way to create a new spring project is using Spring Initializr. All you need to do is fill in the form, download the project, unzip it and open in NetBeans.
Explanation
Regardless of a language and IDE, it is usually good idea to create a new project based on a standard build-tool for the language's ecosystem and avoid creating an IDE-specific project. That makes it easier to share the project with people who use a different IDE and switch your IDE in the middle of the project.
There are several build-tools for Java ecosystem but I'd suggest to pay attention to two of them: Maven and Gradle. Those are most widespread and supported by IDEs.
NetBeans supports Maven out of box. It supports Gradle too but in 8.2 you are supposed to install a support plugin for Gradle (from Tools -> Plugins menu).
You can generate a new Maven or Gradle project using NetBeans. Select corresponding menu item when selecting the type of the project.
Then you will have to add the dependencies of the project to its descriptor (pom.xml for Maven or build.gradle for Gradle). See the documentation for the build-tool of your choice to understand how exactly to do that.
Spring provides Spring Initializr service to generate a new project based on spring's libraries. It is the easiest way for a quick start.
Since you are using Netbeans and it supports Maven out of the box, you can get an existing Maven archetype to setup a basic Spring application for you to start from.

The steps to start a new project are quite fast and straight forward (Netbeans 11)
File -> New Project -> Java with Maven -> Project from archetype
In the search filter enter spring-mvc-quickstart-archetype, enter your project details and click Finish
I've created a Qt calculator app using Qt Creator 3.6.0 purely in C++ code (I didn't use Designer)
I would like to know how to use Qt to make it installable for publishing.
I ran the app in both Release and Debug modes and have both folders of the two.
I also downloaded and installed Qt Installer Framework Opensource 2.0.1 for my Qt Creator 3.6.0 (the IDE I use for Qt).
And I also have the .dll files needed to run the .exe file.
I've searched the Web for it. But since I'm a novice in Qt I can't do the works properly, or I don't understand. (They seem complicated)
Now, is there any straight forward method to use an installer for the app to make as platform independent as possible?
If so, what installer? And how to do the process? This is the first time for me.
I am new to Qt, and I am working in Windows 7.
When I try to run my application directly, I see an error about missing some DLLs. I tried to fix them, but I could not (I tried to build statically).
Is there any correct solution?
My question is:
If I want to run my Qt application on other computers, what do I need? For example, for a .NET application we need to install the .NET framework on the target computer, but what about for Qt?
I searched for its SDK and found a SDK that was about 1.6 GB! Does this mean every time I want to install my application I should install a 1.6 GB sized SDK? That's far too bad.

You have to distribute your application with needed libraries.
If your application is running on Windows you can follow this guide: Deploying an Application on Windows. You can find needed libraries as dll in bin directory inside SDK. A basic Qt gui application needs at least QTCORE4.DLL, QTGUI4.DLL and, if you are using Qt Creator, MINGWM10.DLL. You can leave these libraries in the same directory as you application.
You can't link statically against Qt unless you have built the libraries in that configuration (which you won't if you've just downloaded the pre-built SDK). Be aware that if you do want to link statically there are licensing implications for some components.
If you have built a release configuration then you will need at least the libraries Alessandro mentioned, QtCore4.dll and QtGui4.dll. Depending on the other parts of the library you're using you may also need QtXml4.dll QtWebkit4.dll, QtXmlPatterns4.dll and possibly Phonon.dll. Check that you are building a release configuration rather than a debug configuration, as this won't run as it needs the Visual Studio debug runtimes, which you can't redistribute. If you are in doubt which dlls you need then use DependencyWalker to find out (note that this doesn't show Phonon.dll as it is loaded later).
Generally you'll only need about 4-6 of the dlls, you won't need the whole SDK.
Please consider that many applications use Qt, you have some real chance the DLLs are already installed. Anyway, beware of MSVC dependencies: we had some real nightmare deploying applications on some server, partly related to a policy switch from VS2005 to VS2008. Alessandro already given a good resource: see also this previous post.
If you're working with Qt5, besides the .dlls mentioned by the first answer, you must also add the platforms/ folder from the bin directory inside the SDK.
I have moved our project from SDK 2.0.1 to 3.5 because I'm using TLF. This has compiled OK in flex builder 3 IDE but I am now using command line compilation for our build system and getting errors for all the standard Flex resource bundles: Sharedresources, collections, containers, controls etc. I can see this is because of the improvements in Flex 3 and the SDK local folder doesn't have these as .properties files but now has a framework_rb.swc.
Can anyone tell me how to get the resource bundles to compile using 3.5 SDK?
The application isn't doing anything clever with resource bundles or using the resourcebundle metatag.

I guess it means framework resource bundles can't be found on the build system machine. You should create them with the copylocale command.
When adding other locales, you must
also include the framework resources
for that locale. The en_US locale is
already provided. For all other
locales, you must create the framework
resources. To create a locale’s
framework resources, use the
copylocale utility in the /sdk/bin
directory. For Flash Builder, the
copylocale utility is located in
flash_builder_install/sdks/4.0.0/bin.

I'm developing an application for the Mac, and I'm wicked new at this - what would be the best way to distribute the Qt Framework so that I'm not impacting an already existing framework, and so that my App.app picks up the libraries. I'm also using boost, so I'm curious how a simple bundle works with libraries.
You can use macdeployqt tool that comes with Qt installation. It will copy the needed framework from the Qt installation into your application bundle.
