Be notified of a click on Taskbar Icon - icons

Looking for a solution to a hidden window - either a windows event that occurs when the TaskBar Icon is clicked.
or alternatively, a way to remove the TaskBar Icon. The Tray Icon is easily hidden - that is not the problem.

There is a sample script on the AutoHotkey's Website called Minimize Window to Tray
The script itself uses the hotkey Win+H to hide the active window. Win+U then shows the last hidden window. If this is not the functionality you are going for, I'm sure you can take a look at the script and pick out what you need. Hope this helps you out.

I've a possible answer to detecting a Click on the TaskBar Icon - but I'm concerned it will differ for each version of Windows. Using OnMessage(Wm_Activate := 0x06, "testmessage") - then MouseGetPos to get the Window name, I can eliminate all but 'MSTaskListWClass1' the name of the Icon I want. But I suspect that the name is only valid for Win7.

How to hide mouse cursor in Qt Application?

qApp->setOverrideCursor() method works successfully, if I want to hide mouse cursor, except one condition. If I add a dialog that is modal, and while it is shown, if the cursor is out of dialog's borders, it is shown again. Have you got any idea about the problem?
It does not matter how the solution for hiding mouse cursor is; whether by Qt or at the operating system level. My operating system is Windows 7.
You cannot hide the mouse cursor when it leaves your window (or dialog-window), because it is then handled by the window-manager of your OS. A workaround would be to constrain the mouse to your window/dialog, so it cannot leave. You will either need to look through the MSDN to find the specific windows functions to do it, or do it like in kshegunov's code example on the Qt-forums: https://forum.qt.io/topic/61832/restrict-mouse-cursor-movement/12

Workaround Qt bug Combobox dropdown appear behind window

Right now I have a small tool app that runs in the icon tray. When I click on the icon, the app goes into "windowstayontophint" mode. I added a Combo Box on this window. But when I click elsewhere on desktop, and then click the combo box, the drop down window goes to the back of the window. This seems to be a known bug as reported here:
https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-61804
Is there a workaround for this? I am using Qt 5.9.1.
EDIT: Add some code:
This in MainWindow constructor:
Qt::WindowFlags flags = this->windowFlags();
this->setWindowFlags(flags|Qt::WindowStaysOnTopHint);
Then I put a QComboBox in the mainwindow with preloaded items. First time click, the dropdown appears on top as normal. Then I click onn desktop and then back on the mainwindow and combobox. And drop down becomes at the back of mainwindow. CLick on the link above to see what I mean. The bug report also provide screenshot of what is happening.
Nobody want to put an answer, so I answer this myself.
ANSWER: Update to latest Qt.
It did not work for me because I was having trouble updating (noob here). What basically happened was that Selecting "Update" option on Maintenance Tool does not update SDK from 5.9.1 to 5.10.1. It only update certain things like Qt Creator.
I needed to choose "Add or remove Components" and then adding Qt 5.10.1, but only check the MinGW 32bit only. (Uncheck all others otherwise you need them (like android or other)).
Even after that, you also need to manually download CMake (get it from cmake.com) and set it in "Manage Kits" in Qt Creator.

MS Windows- Main window no response when show menu on a tray notify icon(use a hidden window to process message)

I implemented an class, this class will show an tray icon. to handle the message from the icon, I have to create a hidden window.
Eevery thing works fine, except if You click outside of the icon, icon will not disappear. I have fixed this by adding code below:
SetForegroundWindow(message-only-hiden-window) // added
TrackPopupMenu()
RESOLUTION:To correct the first behavior, you need to make the current window the foreground window before calling TrackPopupMenu or TrackPopupMenuEx.
Now I get the expect result: the menu can disappear if you click outside of the tray icon.
The problem is now, after the call of SetForegroundWindow(message-only-hiden-window) the main app window will no responding(cannot resize move) I can see the main window actually get those messages in spy++.
Keep this the mind if no call on SetForegroundWindow(message-only-hiden-window). Fine. Except the menu will not disappear.
Anyone has experience on similar situation?
How do you implement an tray icon which has no foreground window at all?
Any kind of help will be appreciated. If you wanna the source code I can email you.
resolved. I have forgot return DefWindowProc in the message only window. tricky

Xcode 4 Inspector Panel tells me "No Selection" no matter what

I have a window, a label, a button, and an NSObject.
The first thing I want to do is change the NSObject's class to that of my custom controller.
The thing is, I can't seem to select it. Whatever object I select, the inspector panel says "No Selection". Why? I'm baffled.
accepted answer did not work for me, but answer by 'NSExplorer' did (In Xcode4, the new interface builder says "no selection"). i slightly modified answer from 'NSExplorer'
.. switch to another (non IB) file in the current tab
.. switch back to the IB file (eg. Main.storyboard)
the Attributes Inspector will magically show in the new tab.
I just had to close the assistant editor and the debug area and then it magically showed up. If you don't have the assistant editor open then all you need to do is open it, then close it again. That should fix it too.
If you don't know what the assistant editor is I have highlighted it in red:
Xcode 7.2
The interface builder in XCode 4 is incredibly buggy. I'm also having frequent issues like this. Have you tried closing XCode and re-opening your project? Sometimes, resizing the entire XCode window also seems to reset the interface builder layout.
Make sure you're selecting the objects from the XIB document panel (Where it says "Objects") on the left. Sometimes clicking the actual UI controls doesn't catch in the inspector panel, for whatever reason.
For me, I had the bottom, debugger stretched all away to the top. It said "no selection." By Taping on hide/open bottom debugger twice, you can get the main component back again.
If you have multiple windows, close the storyboard file and open it again, it worked for me

The form of window you are referring to is generally refered to as a "Tooltip"
I think that this is what you're looking for.
