Qt creator crashes after choosing new project (actually, when I just click on project that is below 3rd one) without errors.
Some times there was internal Ubuntu error where was tag:
qtcreator crashed with SIGABRT in raise().

Removing the qt-at-spi package solves the problems (it actually did, for me!)
sudo apt-get remove qt-at-spi

Qt, CMake, and Ninja: ninja's segmentation fault

Ninja's problem is stated as follows:

failed with:
Segmentation fault
What did not work:
Reinstalling Ninja, reinstalling Qt
Trying to update Ubuntu (currently it's 21.10 struggling to update to 22.04 LTS). There are some suggestions on the internet that updates may cause this problem.
Updating Linux' dependencies
Seeking to delete .ninja_deps, etc.
What worked:
Deleting the build folder entirely.
In fact, CMake was unable to make my make files because of ninja's segfault.
Also, it's worth noting that my project worked on another computer with MacOs. Also, another project was built successfully. Thence, it was some problem with the build itself.

Qt 5.9.5 in Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS Error "GtkDialog mapped without a transient parent. This is discouraged"

I've just installed Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS and have just installed and am trying to run Qt but whenever I open a dialog box within Qt, such as when I want to Open an existing Project or File, it causes Qt Creator to freeze until I terminate it. Creating a new Project or File does not cause this to happen (different kind of window I imagine).
The version I have is Qt Creator 4.5.2 based on Qt 5.9.5.
I tried running qtcreator from the command line and when I go to open a file or folder from within the GUI the command line returns the following (and the GUI freezes):
$ qtcreator
Gtk-Message: 01:33:28.712: GtkDialog mapped without a transient parent. This is discouraged
Note, the Gtk-Message only occurs when I do something in Qt that would bring up a dialog box such as to navigate to and select a file. The Qt GIU freezes at this point.
I hope someone knows how to fix this or if it's a compatibility issues between Ubuntu 18.04 and the versions of Qt Creator and Qt that I am using.

Cannot mix incompatible Qt library (version 0x50501) with this library (version 0x50201)

I have installed Shadowsocks-Qt5 within the code sudo apt-get install shadowsocks-qt5 in terminal, and then I can find the launch icon by searching, but it won't open when I click the icon. Then I tried to use terminal to open it, but the error comes out as below:

Cannot mix incompatible Qt library (version 0x50501) with this library (version 0x50201)
[1] 8875 abort (core dumped) ss-qt5
I searched many answers but no one work. I think the key may be the default Qt library, but I don't know how to set default Qt library, the system on my computer is Ubuntu 14.04 LTS.
How to solve this problem?
I just had this error when attempting to run Qt Creator after doing a system update. For me, I was attempting to run Qt Creator 4.10.0-rc1 (based on Qt 5.13.1) that I had manually installed to ~/Qt along with Qt 5.13.0, and my system has Qt 5.12.2 installed.
I was getting the following error:
Cannot mix incompatible Qt library (version 0x50c02) with this library (version 0x50d00)
Doing an strace when running qtcreator.sh revealed that it was attempting to load plugins from the system directory. I finally discovered the culprit was the environment variable QT_PLUGIN_PATH was set (in my case to /usr/lib64/qt5/plugins:/usr/lib64/qt5/plugins/kcms).
After unsetting this variable, Qt Creator started up and worked.
After so many months of trying to fix this issue, this helped me.
sudo apt install qt5-style-plugins.
I was facing a similar issue, and even after 4 hours of debugging, I got nowhere. Finally, I found the following way to keep separate Qt versions, posting here so that other people find it.
Suppose you installed Qt in ${QtRoot}, extend the PATH and LD_LIBRARY_PATH:
export PATH=${QtRoot}/bin:${PATH}
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=${QtRoot}/lib:${LD_LIBRARY_PATH}
You can make a wrapper function / script to manage separate Qt installations like this:
QtVersion=5.12.8
QtRoot="/scratch/Qt/${QtVersion}/gcc_64"
export PATH=${QtRoot}/bin:${PATH}
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=${QtRoot}/lib:${LD_LIBRARY_PATH}
After running this your application will likely run fine.

Cannot cmake kde-connect

I am trying to install kde-connect following this.
Although my kubuntu version is 14.04, I wanted to compile them so that I can have the latest version. But when I followed the instructions to compile, i get the following error.

I have tried giving -DQT_QT_INCLUDE_DIR=/usr/share/qt4/
then it tells that You must build your code with position independent code if Qt was built with -reduce-relocations.
Your cmake by default uses a different QT version.
So, you must explicitly tell him which version of QT he have to use for this job.
This one
-DQT_QT_INCLUDE_DIR=/usr/share/qt4/
Is wrong because you mustn't give QT position explicitly.
All you need is to use the right qmake.
So, give'em this flag and you'll be happy!
-DQT_QMAKE_EXECUTABLE=/usr/bin/qmake-qt4
Since most of kde applications are not ported to Qt5, you need Qt4.x for building kdeconnect(don't know x, mine is 4.8.6).
Also Qt4 installer is not available (I think !), so you have to build it also from source. Building Qt4 is quite easy, just download the source and run the usual commands.
After building it, it qmake name will be qmake-qt4 in /usr/bin.
So for building kdeconnect, first run its cmake, then a Cmaketextcache.txt file will form.
In that change the path of qmake (i.e somewhere written /usr/bin/qmake to /usr/bin/qmake-qt4) and also the path of qt include dir to (I think /usr/include/qt5 to /usr/include/qt4), and run the cmake again.
If some packages are missing, then you have to install it.
But with the above changes, you will get a make file to install it.
Unfortunately, the cited documentation is lagging behind the current state of kdeconnect. I ran into similar problems but I managed to solve them by installing the following required packages from the Kubuntu repositories:
sshfs
libfakekey-dev
libxtst-dev
libqca2-dev
libqjson-dev
I trust these are all of them. I installed kdeconnect from the latest git commit and it seems to run fine.
This answer comes a bit late, but this is the first Google search result for the question. In systems with qtchooser (Kubuntu, Ubuntu at least), this can be fixed by running first:
export QT_SELECT=qt4
This makes all of the Qt build tools to default to the Qt4 version instead of Qt5. You can check which Qt version is active by running:
qmake --version

Invoke kde connect from android and search device.
Your ubuntu will be found / initiating a search from desktop results in android phone pulled up for pairing
Accept pairing request
Provide access to folders
Try clicking on a video/image file for transfer
I could see the new file transferring in /Downloads folder of desktop
allowing/disallowing desktop to access sms, notifications etc are now a choice
Note: Pl treat this with pinch of salt. This appears very simple, effective for a main reason it worked for me in no time.

Qt Creator needs a compiler set up to build. Configure a compiler in the kit options

I Have Installed Qt Creator5 with latest binaries.
but when i am running any program it is giving me this error.

i have searched the whole internet for answer but its inadequate and not helping.
kindly reply the way to get rid of this error.
i was also having the same problem so what i did is
For linux
sudo apt-get install g++
sudo apt-get install libgl1-mesa-dev libglu1-mesa-dev
and then closed the qt creator and restarted it and it worked
i do not know which of the above two made it work but it worked !!
For Windows
Below given solution have worked for few people. so it is worth a try.
Delete this file
C:\Users\AppData\Roaming\QtProject\qtcreator\toolchains.xml
to solve the problem.
For me on Windows 7 this was solved by clicking on the arrow icon next to the computer icon on the bottom left of the Qt Creator screen above green arrows and then double clicked a compiler on the list and rebuild the project.

Before continuing to next steps make sure u have downloaded latest version of Qt.
Download and install minGW-64-bit from link:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/mingw-w64/files/latest/download
Remember The directory to which you install minGW.
Open Qt creator and go to tools -> options -> Build and Run
In Compilers tab Select add -> MinGW -> Name: MinGW path: Browse for mingw-w64.bat (you will find this file in the directory in which you have installed MinGW).ABI: x86 Windows msvc2015 pe 64bit Don't forget to apply your edits.
Go to Kit -> add Name: GCC Device Type: Desktop Device: Local PC (Default for desktop) Compiler: minGW Qt Version: select newest version Apply changes and restart qt
While creating new project make sure you use GCC as kit
If it still doesn't works Click computer icon on bottom left above play button -> GCC -> Build
OR
Go to projects (It is in the menu on left hand side) -> Build Steps -> make -> Override minGw31-make.exe -> browse to path in which you have installed minGW/bin\mingw32-make.exeDo the same for clean steps too
If u Still get any error after these steps try setting Environment Variables
Press Win+Q
Type " Environment variables "
click on " Edit the system environment variables "
System Properties -> Advance -> Environment Variables
Click on path (NOTE : Use These steps very carefully and do not mess with other options)
Click edit
press right arrow to go to end of text
type a semi-colon (if it isn't at the end of it because all the system paths are distinguished by a semi-colon)
paste path "MinGW_installation_directory\bin" (In my case it was "G:\Qt\Tools\mingw32\bin"). Make sure you copy and paste CORRECT path
Click OK and apply the changes.
That should do it !!!
user2304430 has it right, I struggled also figure it out. Above the green Run/Debug buttons in the bottom left, there's a computer icon with a pop-out menu. In there, you have to select your kit.
I went in circles for half an hour checking that my kits were set up right in options. But you actually have to select the kit in the Computer Icon -> pop-out menu in the bottom left before it does anything.
Amazingly, the first many Google pages for the error don't show this, you'd think almost all new users run into this.
I had a similar issue when developing on my Mac -
I was trying to do desktop development with QT creator 3.3.0 based on QT 5.4.0 (Clang 6.0 (Apple)) on OSX 10.9. After trying to manually modify my kits to use GCC, G++, and CLANG. I finally found this really simple solution:
Delete the xxx.pro.user file and then restart QT Creator. It should then automatically pick up your compilers/environments.
Had the same issue on Fedora 22 after installing Qt5.5.
Installing the following packages did the trick:
sudo dnf install gcc-c++
sudo dnf install mesa-libGL-devel
When I installed Qt into folder ~/Qt/ and then manually renamed the folder into something other, I had similar problem. When I restored the folder name into the original ~/Qt/ (specified at the Qt installer), the problem has disappeared; all was solved.
