I need Free tools for scheduling tasks in ASP. Net C#.
I tried with ASP. Net Calendar control, But it's not too flexible to handle all the aspects of requirements. Say Calender events based on Users, Based on some external types, etc. May be I need to learn some sort of AJAX before doing the experiment with Calender control.
Before that, Is there any free tools available? So I can plug-in that directly with little modification or configuration?
Thanks in advance :)

Use DayPilot Lite. DayPilot Lite is an open-source version of DayPilot. It is helping thousands of users to build calendar, personal scheduling, and resource booking applications.

I am a asp.net webforms developer (have 4 years of expirience), and have some expirience with MVC and razor engine + normal front end like jquery/templating and so on. Im used to build sites up from scratch. Yesterday ive got an idea to learn one of the CMS systems which everybody talks about. I chose Umbraco to be the system of my choice. Ive lerned some basics like templating, document types, content handling and so on.
Right now i really dont see when i should use umbraco and when to use plain asp.net webforms/MVC to build a website.
Can anybody explain me what is it that make umbraco so good that alot of people use it? The only thing i can see is that it makes some clear structure of a webpage.
As with all other Content Management Systems (CMS), they are build for the end-users to manage the content of their website in an easy way without the need of understanding, html, php or other programming languages.
Besides this, Umbraco is a powerful and flexible CMS build on the ASP.NET Framework and it is free and open-source.

I'm gonna start developing a single page web application using Microsoft stack. In some critical parts of the project I have to provide real time data.
I can use Signalr or Web Sockets for these kind of tasks. Can you do a comparison of them in terms of usability, performance or learning curves of these technologies. And I'm glad to know if you have another option to suggest.
Thanks in advance,
I think you should go with signalR. It is part of .net framework, it also supports web sockets and if any client doesnt support web sockets it will fallback to long-polling, forever frames any other technology available.

i have a general question. I want to develop a Web Application for business process modelling. The application was build using c# and WPF as Desktop Application Software and now i would like to develope it as Web Application. what technology should i choose?
I've tried to find it myself but there are many different opinions about that topic. Is there any general rule or methodology which can help me decide?
Your question is not quite constructive. You need to talk to some Architect to understand your business and the requirements to fill up the gaps of choosing a technology. It is quite vague to answer your question whether to choose ASP.NET webforms/MVC or probably a different platform than .NET to suit your needs.
On a general answer, if you are planning to port your whole application developed on desktop using WPF, you can consider porting to Silverlight which might cut down your cost to 90% (probably), where you will able to reuse all codes you have written so far. But that's totally your call and your business needs.

I am a student and I'm currently doing senior project. I'm required to work on the application control or application platform to let a group of programmer work together on a server with the security. I would like to know how a group of programmer work together on a server and how to work using visual studio 2010 on a server.
Thanks
First of all you have to use a version control system for your code such as SVN, which is one of the most popular.
There are also some other popular systems like GIT. You should try them both and see what fit your needs.
You'll probably want to create user accounts for each programmer on the server and allow them ssh access. Look into git for project version control.
i recommed your download here !

I am going to build a basic small business site for myself and would like to get a head start with a quality ASP.NET template and don't mind purchasing one.
Can you recommend a reputable site I might check out for this?
not specifically asp.net but http://www.themeforest.net have some good themes which could easily be used in asp.net
I think you would need to know what exactly you are going to do. If you are just after a web page template then look at a css web page template
If you are planning to have some sort of specific functionality and interactivity then how about Kentico which is a CMS system.
Failing that, there are a good few choices if you download the Microsoft Web Platform Installer

Dom
Although Wordpress is used more for blogging and not asp.net, I like the aesthetics of its available themes and you can easily port them an asp.net:

Not a template site, but this gave me ideas and inspiration:
