Is there a way to configure some settings around the 'SDL Tridion' button that is shown in the top left of the published website?
I'd like to go to town on it:
Change the text from 'SDL Tridion' to something like 'Edit this page'
Change the position in the page e.g. to bottom right
Change the colour etc.
You could look at concept of the skinning the Tridion CMS and apply the same for UI Experience Manager. You could find the UI themes TRIDION_HOME\web\WebUI\Editors\SiteEdit\Themes and possibly could add a new css for the placement of the button etc.
You could create a new css file like MyCustom.css and place it under the defalt Carbon. Once you have your new css file you need to update the SiteEditEditor.cfg file under TRIDION_HOME\web\WebUI\Editors\SiteEdit\Configuration to add new theme css file. Look for themefiles section in the config.
To change the default label, you need to change the EditorViewTitle data attribute value in Tridion.Web.UI.Editors.SiteEdit.Strings.resx file located under TRIDION_HOME\web\WebUI\WebRoot\App_GlobalResources.
**NOTE::***Please note that updating .resx files may not be supported and not documented*.
I played with this while back and I am quite successful with the labels and themes, but did not pursue since it is not fully meeting my needs.

I just tried to change the SDL Tridion button label, and I had to use the StartButtonLabel resource name in Tridion.Web.UI.Editors.SiteEdit.Strings.resx to make it work. The EditorViewTitle label appears as the browser page title, not on the start button.

I am using Plone 4.1.4 with Doormat and Diazo in an institute I work and the Footer has to be made manually by adding each column and item that links internally to items from main menu.
What I want is that this footer, which is the site map, to change automatically every-time some user create, edite or delete an item from the main menu (content folders).
When I got the job I noticed many of those links in footer are out of date, and as there are many users in their each sections of the institute that are allowed to change the structure, I know they won't update both folders and footer.
I searched the Internet for some product or tip but I cant' find anything that resolves that problem.
If your Diazo theme was created as a Python package using mr.bob or zopeskel, you probably already have z3c.jbot, which allows you to easily override templates, available. If so, you likely have a template_overrides or similar directory in the package. If so, just drop into it a file named plone.app.layout.viewlets.footer.pt with the contents:

Then style away!
Alternatively, you may replace the colophon by naming the file plone.app.layout.viewlets.colophon.pt.
If you aren't using a Python package for your theme (if the Diazo theme was created through-the-web) then you may use the portal_view_customizations tool in the ZMI to make the same template override.
You may wish to also customize the depth of the site map. That may be changed via the portal_properties tool, navtree_properties property sheet. Or, just use CSS to hide unwanted depth.
An alternative and much easier way to realize your demand, can be to use portlets instead of viewlets, in combination with the addons "Products.ContentWellPortlets" and "collective.portlet.sitemap":
1.) Hide the footer-viewlets via a GenericSetup-config like in this example:

2.) Assign a sitemap-portlet in the footer-area via a GenericSetup-config, similar to this example:

Tip: First assign the sitemap-portlet via the Web-UI, then go to [SITE-URL]/portal_setup, search for "portlets", check its box and click the export-button on the bottom, to get the needed xml-file.

Unluckily the Plone 5 way is only through CSS (with a background image for example) and register it in the new resource registry.
One way I tested is to re-use Fontello, like Barceloneta is doing but is not really simple because you must manually modify the generated CSS to prevent you new CSS to destroy other global rules.

Note. I don't really understand this run to CSS and iconfont. It's a kind of over-optimization:
old school images can still be cached
background images are not really accessible as real images provided also an "alt" for blind people, that warn about the content type.
I don't like current situation too much... it's OK while you are developing a theme but is a nightmare for add-ons developers.
Beneath the update of an actual fontello font, you can limit yourself to enhance the icon configuration.
From the Products.CMFPlone package you can get the current icon font config file "config.json"
/Products/CMFPlone/static/fonts/config.json
To review the content of the file visually, go to the fontello.com website and visit the menu under the "wrench" icon.
Reset all icon selections and settings you may have done before.
Unselect glyphs
Reset all changes
Use Import to load the config.json file from CMFPlone.
Review the icons, names, codes and shapes
Look at the source code of config.json and locate icons not referencing a font but containing plain svg path information.
You will figure out that even glyphs can contain multiple path elements and holes as well.
Try to overload just the config.json file in your package by appending your custom icon as plain svg in the json and choose a non conflicting unicode char code. I am still working on documenting this in detail.

I want to hide the date on this page.
I tried to change it inside joomla but I couldn't. It's not an article but a JKit page and there is no such an option.
I used the "inspect element" feature to find the corresponding css file and line (bootstrap.css #554). When I change the element through the "inspect element" menu its working but when I open the css file and change it, it doesn't work.
Any suggestions how I can hide it?

That ought to do it. Granted, any other metadata will also be hidden. You should add this to a custom CSS file and not modify core Joomla or extension files.
I find it hard to believe that jKit doesn't have a setting for that. (Update: I see that jKit is very new and lacks good documentation.) Also, a template override might be more to your liking.
Most Joomla components allow you to control things like this in the options for the items and also in the menu options when creating a menu link (or setting the global options to change the default behavior. If this component does not, make either an alternate layout or a template override (depending on whether you want to always change this or just on this one page). If you go into the template manager, template view there is a system in place that will automatically create a copy of the layout and put it in the right location. Just edit that to show what you want.
Ok so I solved by editing the according .php file of the component.
I just removed the echo line of the date.
Nothing else worked.
I am pretty new to Sharepoint.
I need to customize some Sharepoint Masterpages (the background color, the font type and a few other css requeriments).
Considering I have available the following files: v4.master, default.master and two more pages which are content pages of default.master, plus the COREv4.css file.
I know I should create a copy of one of those master pages (I am not sure which tho) and customize it changing the CSS linked to it). The following questions come in regards of this:
1) The custom CSS file should be a modified copy of the COREv4.CSS or just another CSS file with the desired styles?
2) How do I create/link the customized CSS file for the modified page via Site Settings?. How/Where should I save the new file?.
3) As for the copy of v4.master, How do I load it to "replace" the original one for the site?.
4) The system is built upon Sharepoint 2010. That ensures that the page to have the modified CSS would be a v4.master copy only?.

I managed to solve the problem getting a general idea with the pdf manual provided, your suggestions and some extra steps I will describe briefly:
1) To place my custom css file I put it in the folder: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\TEMPLATE\LAYOUTS\3082\STYLES
2) I opened the site to be customized with Sharepoint Designer 2010.
3) I clicked on the option Main Pages/Master Pages, and selected the page to be v4.master page, copied and pasted it. Then I renamed it right clicking on it, selecting "Rename" and typed the new name, after doing that I right clicked one more and selected "Set page as main default page".
4) To edit the contents of the page I right clicked once more and selected the option "Edit content in advanced mode", right before the head tag ended I copied and pasted:

Note that "customname.css" is my css file. Then I clicked on the floppy disk icon on the upper left side of the screen to save.
5) After doing that I used Chrome HTML/CSS Analyzer, inspecting the original (and now copied) master page to browse on the zones that needed customization in order to identify the class names/ids/element types that managed the styles to be changed. Once identified I only added to them the properties that required change, EG:

I mostly did this by myself by trial and error with Chrome Analyzer but I also helped the task using the Chart found here (http://sharepointexperience.com/csschart/csschart.html), tho at some point going thru it turned a bit tricky and I decided to do it by myself as I mentioned. In the process I repeatedly added more styles to the custom file and then overwrote it on the server location to refresh the page/pages to see how it was looking, this till the end of the process.

You can create a new master page from the scratch or modify the existing one.

It's not advised to modify files of SharePoint.
Better to create new master page file, specify all CSS and script you want inside and install this with feature.
What version of SharePoint do you have? SharePoint 2010 Server or Foundation? Cause with server version you can brand your master page in a cool way:

I'm trying to use Aptana Studio 3 instead of phpEd. But I'd like to have the code coloring like in Dreamweaver. I made these changes in phpEd, but I can't find where to change it in Aptana.
Also, I installed the jquery bundle, but I can't to get it working...

Preferences:Aptana:Themes. Figuring out what keyword corresponds to what display object can be a bit tricky, but it is all there.

I'm looking at it now, but I'm running into some internal bugs (namely https://aptana.lighthouseapp.com/projects/35272-studio/tickets/2357-scope-selectors-with-portion-prefix-match-arent-matching-properly) that I need to fix before I can finish. As for editing themes yourself, you can see the current scope at the cursor by doing Commands > Bundle Development > Show Scope. Then use scope selectors that match that sort of scope (we adopt Textmate's scoping/theming rules: http://manual.macromates.com/en/scope_selectors)
Could you finally get your theme?
If you want to create your own theme then first go to: Window->Preferences->Aptana Studio->Themes
To create a new theme just click on the "+" sign next to the themes
list.
To add elements to your new theme right click the text in your
editor and click Commands->Bundle Development->Show scope.
Copy the last section you see to the right of the hint window that
appears.
In the themes elements list click the "+" located at the bottom of
the dialog box (next to "Scope selector")
Give a friendly name to your new element.
Assign foreground/background colors to your new element.
Paste the element's scope in the "Scope selector" input box (make
sure your new element is selected, if not, click on it).
I created a theme for PHP, CSS, HTML, JS and XML editors, similar to the old aptana 2 colors. If you want to get it you can write me to jgarcias.cr at gmail dot com.
