Windows 2003 to Windows 2008 Migrating Website - iis-7

please try to give me some advice or solutions about migrating my application from win 2003 to win 2008(32bit). The problem was I keep getting the error 'ActiveX can't create object' error when starting an standard application. I can't get to login in my website maybe because it cannot create the COM+ application. When viewing the event log, there seems to be a warning coming from the DistributedCOM.
I've done the following so far in setting up the win 2008 server. Somehow I do the same when setting up in win 2003 which works fine.
Configured website in IIS
Installed VB6 DLL Application in COM+ services
Checked the 'Allow IIS Intrinsic Properties' checkbox in COM+ services
Maybe you have encountered this so I'll try my luck and hope that I get the solution.

You may need to run your application in 32-Bit mode.
Try this:
IIS Manager->
->
Application Pools->
->
Advanced Settings):
"Enable 32-bit Applications" >> True

Unable to start debugger on Older version of Visual Studio (2003) Under Windows 7

For this project I needed to install and run VS 2003 on Windows 7 using IIS 6.0 with Framework 1.1 on my sever because there was old VS2003 C# code on a remote server that needed updating and did not have VS 2003 installed only the DLL, PDB, aspx, and aspx.cs files. After porting the code over and making the needed changes on my local server, I discovered that while I could browse the page, I could not run the page with debugger and got this error: "... Unable to start debugging on the web server. There is no managed code running in the process. In order to attach to a process with the .NET debugger, managed code must be running in the process before attaching." I then started the application without Debugger and selected the w3wp.exe process for CLR in order to attach the process but I noticed that the process session was set to 0 and I still got that error again.
The following is done in IIS6 :
Application created.
DefaultAppPool (.NET framework 1.1 Integrated)(ApplicationPoolIdentity) is used
Browsing the web page works OK.
Authentication has Integrated Windows and ASP.NET Impersonation enabled.
I have runned aspnet_regiis from all the .net version in order
Set debug="true" in the web.config.
Thanks much for your help
Resolution:
Right click the ASP.Net project > Properties
select Configuration Properties > Debugging
Enable the below mentioned entries in 'Debuggers' frame.
ASP.Net Debugging
Unmanaged code debugging.
I had the same problem.
I fixed it.
Delete the virtual directory in IIS
Create the new virtual directory with different name other than the old one and configure the new virtual directory name in your visual studio solution.

Visual Studio can't create web site in IIS

After installing service pack 1 for Visual Studio 2010 cannot create web site in IIS. Here is error message:
---------------------------
Microsoft Visual Studio
---------------------------
Configuring Web http://localhost/MyWebSite for ASP.NET 3.5 failed.
You must manuallyconfigure this site for ASP.NET 3.5 in order for
the site to run correctly. Visual Studio cannot detect whether this
virtual root has been configured for use with ASP.NET 2.0. The likely
cause is that you do not have sufficient priviledges to access the
IIS metabase. You may need to manually configure this site for
ASP.NET 2.0 in order for your site to run correctly.

Does anybody know how to fix it ? Thanks!
P.S. I'm using windows7 x64.
Have you tried run Visual Studio with "Run As Administrator" from right click?
This happened to me when I deleted the default application pool.
Thanks to a Microsoft Connect report, I was able to solve this by choosing a new default application pool under the "Web Site Defaults" properties of the Sites node in the IIS 7 Manager tree.
Try changing the .Net version your Application Pool is using.
Open IIS Manager from Administrative Tools.
Select Application Pools on the left.
On the right, double click 'DefaultAppPool' (or whichever you may have created)
Under .Net Framework Version select v3.5.
Click OK and restart IIS.
I don't know if you have to restart IIS or not, but it won't hurt.
I found the answer here:
Visual Studio 2013. You do not have sufficient privilege to access IIS web sites on your machine
IIS stores a config file on your personal drive. At my company our shared drive was down for maintenance and I was getting this error. Once the drive came back online VS.NET started working again.

Basic requirement to Run ASP.Net 2.0 Application in IIS 7.0

I am very new in IIS 7.0 (Using in Windows Server 2008).
I have my Web application developed in VS 2005 or ASP.Net 2.0. in Windows Server 2003 system.
Now i am migrating to Windows server 2008 + IIS 7.0, So please can any tell me what are the basic setting i have to perform on IIS 7.0 to run my existing application without any changes in code.
I read somewhere that i have to change my Web.config file.
Dont worry my friend, i just follow the following simple steps and it works for me
1- i copy the folder containing the application into the www root folder
2- open IIS from RUN INETMGR and check the application pool: make sure it contains .NET 2
3-convert to application
4-choose the classic .NET v2
5- set permissions and run the application
Good Luck !

if you face any trouble, send your problem as comment and i will answer it
You may want to change your application to classic mode instead of Integrated mode, there are some gotchas moving into integrated mode. Its something to consider at least. Hopefully you have the opportunity to test before going live with IIS 7.

Debug .NET app with IIS7 and Delphi.NET - Use aspnet_regiis.exe to configure the local IIS web server

I have been trying to set up local debugging for my ASP.NET app in Delphi and am getting the error above. I have used the aspnet_regiis.exe tool with the following:
Aspnet_regiis.exe -s W3SVC/1/ROOT/DevTest
but this hasn't helped. It added it to IIS as an application but I am still getting the error:
The project cannot be debugged because virtual directory "DevTes" is not configured with ASP.NET version 2.0 or 3.0 Use aspnet_regiis.exe to configure the local IIS web server.
I am not really sure where to go from here so need some help please:
Machine specs: Windows 7 64bit, IIS7, Using RAD Studio 2007.
EDIT: For more info, I have been able to start the website in Firefox and have been able to attach to process now, although the debugging is lacking a little, i.e I can't see values of sessions ect ...
Try using the Web Platform Installer to configure IIS for ASP.NET development. http://www.microsoft.com/web/Downloads/platform.aspx

Unable to start debugging on the Web Server. Visual Studio 2008

I am running visual studio 2008 on vista business 64-bit. I am getting the following exception when I try to debug against IIS.
"Unable to start debugging on the web server. The object identifier does not represent a valid object".
IIS and Visual Studio are on the same box.
I've tried adding Windows Authentication but no luck (my app requires forms authentication, fyi).
Any thoughts? I have a binding on the Web Site. The IIS app is a Web SIte not a virtual directly.
Thanks!
You have switch on Windows Authentication in IIS
Is your pc and the webserver on the same Windows domain? If not, or there is a DMZ between your pc and the web server you could experience problems unless you've explicitly setup trust between the machines.
Go to IIS right click on your project go to Asp.Net tab change the version to your current verion you are using.
This problem comes when you are using a higher version and decided to switch to a lower version and vice versa changing to your version might solve the problem
