Is it possible to get SDL Tridion VMware for my own to learn? I've seen somewhere in the forum (in one of Nuno's post) may be stackoverflow or tridon forum like I can get the VMWare from SDL Tridion if I work for SDL project.
I checked with SDL Customer Support, but they don't provide any :-)

This is a common question, I wrote a blog over 2 years ago about getting individual developer environments here:
http://www.urbancherry.net/blogengine/post/2010/02/06/The-Fifth-Environment.aspx
To the best of my knowledge (as #Ram and #Nuno state) there is currently no way to get an evaluation license without being a Employee, Partner, Client or SDL Tridion MVP

As I did say in my blog, this is how you can get a Tridion License:
You work for SDL (SDL Employee)
You work for a SDL (WCM) Partner
You work for a SDL (WCM) Customer
You are a SDL Tridion MVP
So, the options didn't change. If any of the above applies to you, you can get a license.
Nuno

You can build your own VM to explore if you are a SDL Tridion Partner or if you are working for a client needs. In both cases, you need the license (via either partner agreement/client license contract). Apart from Tridion license, you need to have license for non-tridion software (like VMware, Windows OS etc..)
Here is an article on How to build VM:
https://www.sdltridionworld.com/articles/sdltridion2011/tutorials/creating-development-vm-1.aspx
Also, If you are partner you could talk to your SDL contact to see if you can get the sales VM Image.

I've blogged similar (the same) thoughts as Chris and Nuno.
+1 to the Fifth Tridion Environment
Read How to get started for some leads on a Linked-In group and recruiters
Also consider training as at least a temporary way to get familiar with the software. SDL sometimes offers discounts.

I am a dot web developer and recently I got an offer for CRM technical consultant from a company so I'm confused about that should I accept that offer or proceed with my recent field. so I need expert opinion from all you ?
Which filed is best Dynamic CRM or hardcore Dot net Web developer ?
Need expert opinion.
Please provide a reason too.
Thanks in advance .
As a Dynamics CRM developer you can be a web, backend, database, enterprise and/or report developer. All in the middle of the Microsoft product/technology portfolio (SQL Server, SharePoint, Office, Azure and Visual Studio/.Net to name a few).
It's a fast moving area and you will likely be working with the newest technology.
Generally speaking, in our business it's a wise decision to specialize. Finding good web developers can be a challenge, finding good Dynamics CRM developers is even harder. Logical consequence is that the market value of CRM developers is better.

We are developing an enrollment system through asp.net (c#), we are required to generate PDF reports and be deployed on a Web Host. We are going to use iTextSharp since it can be used for free but under Affero General Public License (AGPL). How can we deploy oursystem that is under Affero General Public License (AGPL) or more likely the free versions of iTextSharp ?
You need to distribute the complete source code of the project using iTextSharp using the same medium you use to distribute your software. For instance: in old days, software was distributed on a CD. In that case, the complete source code had to be distributed on the same CD(-set).
In your case, you are distributing the code on a Web Host (the main difference between the AGPL and the GPL is that putting code on a web site is also considered as distribution). This means that you should host the complete source code on the same site where you deploy your application.
Everybody visiting your site needs to have access to your complete source code. As many companies wish to avoid this, they purchase a commercial license.
There is also a persistent misconception where some project manager think "we did not modify iText, hence we do not have the obligation to share our code." That is wrong: linking to an AGPL library is generally considered being a modification of the library.

Getting below error while accessing SDL Tridion Content Manager (SDL Tridion version 2011). Did anyone face this issue before?
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<tcm:Error xmlns:tcm="http://www.tridion.com/ContentManager/5.0" ErrorCode="8004035A" Category="23" Source="Kernel" Severity="1">

<tcm:Token>TDSE</tcm:Token>
</tcm:Line>
<tcm:Line ErrorCode="8004035A" Cause="true" MessageID="16246">
<![CDATA[The license is invalid. Please contact SDL Tridion Customer Support: EasyLicenser error -12]]>

<tcm:Location>UtilitiesTDS.GetUserContext</tcm:Location>
<tcm:Location>TDSE.Initialize</tcm:Location>
</tcm:CallStack>
</tcm:Details>
</tcm:Error>
You should consider asking this over on the Tridion Stack Exhchange website. You are more likely to get a response from the Tridion experts there.
However, looking at your error message:
The license is invalid. Please contact SDL Tridion Customer Support:
EasyLicenser error -12
It would appear that there is an issue with your license file. I would suggest that you check that the license you are using is correct (they are specific to a particular server and are often based on the number of CPUs and possibly the number of Users and/or Publications) and contact the Tridion Support team if you are unable to resolve yourself.

I want to create a Website for that I am using asp.net technology,Since I am Actually Buying a domain and web hosting space for it. Before that I have question regarding some doubts.
I have seen Website http://www.bigrock.in/ . As everyone Knows that Asp.net is platform dependent and I want my Website should open everywhere with same look and feel. And Someone have told me there will be no issue for platform Dependency,You only need to choose Server with windows and deploy Your website there. and after that everybody will be able to open website with same look. Now My question is that if that's the thing is there then why the issue of platform Independent for(java EE,Php) website is there.
Please Clarify my doubts.
Platfrom independence in this case is only a concern for the server, not the client.
A normal asp.net website can be openened in all mainstream browsers, on Mac, Linux or Windows or mobile clients. So it will work everywere.
ASP.net is platform dependent.
This is not true.
An asp.net website can be installed on any web-server provided it has .net framework installed on it. Most modern age windows servers has it. Hence, whoever told you that
choose Server with windows and deploy Your website there. and after
that everybody will be able to open website with same look
Is right.
When somebody accesses your website's page asp.net generates HTML content which is sent to client which is platform independent. Hence all clients will get same look and feel.

Its getting to that time where we need to get some more up to date development tools. There seems to be so many schemes, subscriptions and memberships out there which promise to offer discounts on various development tools etc. Which ones are best in terms of cost and usable software.
We are a web based company and our software is creeking its getting that old. We are looking to upgrade our Microsoft (Visual Studio, Office, IIS7, etc) and Adobe/Macromedia (Fireworks, Dreamweaver, Flash) products. Off the shelf prices are simply scary!
How can we get the gear at a sensible rate? We are only a small team of 4.
Edit: Signed up for the WebSpark membership, thanks for the pointers guys. Anything similar for Adobe. Tried googling but it seems these things are buried away with funny names!
For MS software, have a look at WebsiteSpark program. You can receive up to 3 licenses for VS, Expression Blend, Windows Web Server 2008 (4 CPU license) and SQL Server (4 CPU license). Program is designed for small (<=10 workers) web developing companies and works for 3 years, though. After this period MS requires to buy this software providing discount.
Have you considered the Visual Studio Express Edition? It's feature-limited, but free. Conversely, full versions of Visual Studio are costly, but they're an investment in your team's development, and are -- hopefully -- but a fraction of your development budget when you consider software engineer salaries.
If you qualify Microsoft's BizSpark program might be for you.
In terms of MS products:
If you're developing with Microsoft tools and for Microsoft Platforms then the two "spark" programmes mentioned - probably WebsiteSpark in your case.
Also the Microsoft Action Pack for non-dev tools.
Aside from the above, Visual Studio with MSDN pro seems, to me, to be about the best "value" of the dev tool offerings - you need to find a local licensing guru to get the best price.
