How are keywords in metadata stored? - tridion

I'm researching options to synchronize external data to a Category and Keyword list.
I have a metadata field with a states field that uses a category called US States.
When I preview my component with a simple XSLT component template (<xsl:copy-of select="." />), I can see:
<tcm:Content>
...
</tcm:Content>
<tcm:Metadata><Metadata xmlns="http://createandbreak.net/schema/generic">
<states>California</states>
<states>New York</states>
</Metadata></tcm:Metadata>
When I update the keyword and preview, I can see updated values.
<tcm:Content>
...
</tcm:Content>
<tcm:Metadata><Metadata xmlns="http://createandbreak.net/schema/generic">
<states>Californias</states>
<states>New York</states>
</Metadata></tcm:Metadata>
Which is great. It looks like we do not need to synchronize components (open, edit, and save) to use updated keywords. Is that a safe assumption?
If I update a keyword, do I need to update components that use it in order to publish component presentations with the updated values?
Do I need to also be careful when moving components with content porter?

No, you don't need to do anything manually for those Keyword fields to be "Content Porter"-safe. Tridion stores the link from your Keyword field to the Keyword definition (in the category) as a so-called managed link (a TCM URI).
The reason you don't see this value in your XSLT has to do with the way Tridion traditionally exposes the Keywords in WebDAV: it hides the TCM URIs there and instead just exposes the value of the selected keyword. Since Keyword values must be unique within their category, this will always allow you to look up the correct TCM URI if needed.
But when exporting (and in general when you're using the API to access content) you should retrieve the Component XML with the TCM URIs in place. Check the API documentation for your programming language to see which Filter/ReadOption you need to specify for that.

Adobe CQ AEM: query to fetch pages by passing component name

I am using Query builder as below to get the list of distinct pages which uses the component (component name will passed as a parameter) in property. I need to pass two parameters, cq:lastReplicationAction=Activate and sling:resourceType=component path. I tried above JSON query but no result and it is failing since the component may be used at any level of page node. E.g, /jcr:content/par/component or /jcr:content/par/mainpar/component
https://host:port/bin/querybuilder.json?1_property=sling:resourceType&1_property.value=COMPONENTPATH&2_property=jcr:content/cq:lastReplicationAction&2_property.value=Activate&path=FROM_WHICH_CONTENT_PATH&type=cq:Page&p.limit=-1
Components are placed under par node of page, and Replication property is part of page JCR node. That's the reason your query is returning 0 result. Try this query:
http://localhost:4502/bin/querybuilder.json?1_property=jcr:content/par/*/sling:resourceType&1_property.value=<Component-Path>&2_property=jcr:content/cq:lastReplicationAction&2_property.value=Activate&path=<BASE-Content-Path>&type=cq:Page&p.limit=-1
I have used following property to find component: jcr:content/par/*/sling:resourceType If your par node has different name then use correct name of par node.
A xpath query can be used to get the pages where a components used.
Goto CRXDELight using http://AEM-AUTHOR-HOST/crx/de/index.jsp, open Tools -> Query. Place the query into the Query box:
/jcr:root/content//*[jcr:contains(#sling:resourceType, 'COMPONENT_NAME/PATH')] order by #jcr:score
if you know exact path of the component then use below query.
/jcr:root/content//*[#sling:resourceType = 'COMPONENT_PATH'] order by #jcr:score
It will return list of paths of content nodes where your component being used. You may split the each path before /jcr:content to get exact page paths.

How to format Alfresco'API parameter activityFilter in servce user activities feed ?

I need to use that api : http://docs.alfresco.com/4.0/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.alfresco.enterprise.doc%2Freferences%2FRESTful-FeedUserfeedGet.html
What I don't know is how to format activityFilter parameter ? What kind of things can I filter ? I'd like to set a max number of results, is it possible ?
I don't know where to find the documentation.
Thank you.
Mathieu.
I don't know where/if the list is documented, but it isn't hard to find out the values you are looking for...
The first place to go is the Web Script Index, which is:
http://localhost:8080/alfresco/service/index
From there you can find that web script, click on its ID, and see its declaration, any accompanying documentation, and, often, the code of the web script controller.
In this case, the controller is Java-based, so you can get its class and go look at that in the source.
Often, that's not convenient. So the next thing to do is to realize that Alfresco Share makes use of the same web script. If you turn on Firebug and go to the Alfresco Share Global Dashboard you can see the activity feed dashlet. As you change the second dropdown (the one that defaults to "all items") you will see your browser doing GETs against that web script. By choosing the various choices available in the dashlet, you'll see that the values it uses to filter activities are:
org.alfresco.comments.comment-created
org.alfresco.comments.comment-updated
org.alfresco.documentlibrary.file-added
org.alfresco.documentlibrary.file-deleted
org.alfresco.documentlibrary.file-updated
org.alfresco.documentlibrary.files-added
org.alfresco.documentlibrary.files-deleted
org.alfresco.documentlibrary.files-updated
org.alfresco.profile.status-changed
org.alfresco.site.user-joined
org.alfresco.site.user-left
org.alfresco.site.user-role-changed
You can pass more than one of these at-a-time to the web script by separating each with an escaped comma (%2C).
There may be more filters available, but those are the ones used by the activity feed dashlet on the global dashboard.

Configuration xml for Content Porter Sdl Tridion 2011

I am trying to invoke content porter from command line. As an input parameter we need to provide a config xml to content porter. I am able to understand most of the pattern of config xml but i am not able to understand the pattern of values for ItemSubType and IsExported tags in import config xml. Can someone help me out in understanding the pattern of values for the above tags.
Thanks in adavnce.
Why do you need to play with this manually? I'm not 100% sure, but I can point you in the right direction.
ItemSubType might be set for components (Xml or Multimedia), Schemas (schema type), or TemplateBuilding block (C#, Assembly, Compound, etc). I think it's mostly used to show if there's a binary content along with the item itself.
IsExported is what it says it is. As you know Content Porter is exporting each item together with the items it depend on. You can filter out some of the dependencies, if you know that you have these items on the target system. For filtered out items, IsExported is set to false. For example, you want to export a component. By default, you will have to export schema of this component, folder in which the schema reside, publication with its default items and whatever other dependenices there might be. But you are 100% sure that on your destination system you already have this publication with the folder you need and schema, so to save time you can decide to filter all of this out and export only component. In this case, schema, and everything else will still be added to dependency table, but IsExported will be set to false.

Take data from a field from exsisting node and make that the default value of a field in different content type

I don't know if I'm on the right track but I'm trying to let users of my web site create there own versions of pages on my web site.
Basically I'd like to make our documentation used as a starting point where they just add details and make a new page for themselves in the process.
I have a 'book' content type that I have changed with CCK and a 'client edits' content type that uses a nodereferencefromURL widget to link itself to the book node.
So simple version of what I'm saying is I have a link on my book pages that creates a node using client edits content type. I would like to put some fields on the client edits content type that take the values of some of the fields from the book page it is linked from.
I'm sure I'm missing something as I would have thought someone would have tried this before but I can't even find a hint on how to go about this.
All I really need is a point in the right direction if my current thinking is wrong.
Current thinking is that I use a php script to get the default value for a field on the new node add screen that drags the value for a field from the book I'm linking from.
I'm thinking this is the case because there is an option for default values for the field in cck manage fields that lets you put in a php value to return a default value for your field.
Am I on the right track or is there already a module or process that does what I'm talking about and I'm just too dumb to find it.
This sounds a little strange, are your client edits going to be a diff from the original node or just coppied data?
I would prehaps do it a more simple way, just have book nodes, and have different fields disaply depending on who edits it (enable the content_permissions module). That way you can use the node clone module to create the users copy.
You will need to make a module to contain your custom php code.
I ended up using rules to save information from the user and the cloned node into hidden fields.
One that saved the original node ID into a field when ever you create content of that type unless the url ends with Clone. This means that when you create the clone the original node ID is kept in the field.
That made it easy to use a views argument that took the node ID to make the clone appear along side the original when a user visits the original page.
The second rule trick was to compute a field that saved the "store name" from the profile of the user only when saving clone content.
This meant that there was a hidden field on the clone that stored the info so I could then use another views argument to restrict the view to only people with the same store name in their profile.
I am no good with PHP but I managed to find a snippet (can't remember where) that returns the store name of the current logged in user as the argument.
global $user;
profile_load_profile($user);
return $user->profile_store_name;

Drupal Views (Page) Using Human-Friendly Path

I have CCK and Views module installed. For the sake of this question scope, I'll call the content type as Project. Projects have many Members.
Project nodes are accessible through /project/project-name. I want to be able to display list of members through path /project/project-name/members.
Is there any way to do this?
Currently I have a views setup for page display on path /project/%/members, and have the argument taken from the url. I realize I can't use "Node ID from URL" option directly since it's node name instead of node id. Therefore I tried to enable "PHP Code" argument. But the problem is, Drupal Views always assume that the parameter is "project-name" and therefore ignored my php code argument setting. Anyone knows how I might be able to do this?
Thanks
Yes, you can actually use the "Node ID from URL" option, and you should.
Use the path or pathauto module to generate human-readable URLs for your projects in the form project/project-name. This will create a human-readable alias for the node, but the underlying Drupal system path is still node/nid.
Views can still use the "Node ID from URL" as an argument (or Contextual filter, as they are known in Drupal 7) even with human-readable aliases for those ugly paths.
If the project's name is the node title you can get what you want pretty easily.
You can pass the node title as argument instead of the nid, but the result will be the same. You get some options to use lowercase, transform - to space ect, as what you can do in a url is limited compared to a node title.
The rest of the view would be the same, as the solution using node nids in the url.
You need to create path aliases for /project/project-NID/members to /project/project-Name/members
I asked this exact question a month ago. :)
