I have Plone 4.0.2 setup with LinguaPlone 4.0.1 and all of my pages (including "Home", "About", "Contact", etc.) translated into French and Spanish (English as default). I get the three languages available in the top-right corner of the screen and when I click on any other language, the site and all page contents are translated properly (including the navigation tabs, so "Home" becomes "Accueil" in French, and "Inicio" in Spanish).
The problem is when I am browsing the site as a different language and click on "Home" (or "Accueil"/"Inicio"), the home page displays in English. Yet everything else is still in that other language (French/Spanish). I have to re-click the language I want to view the homepage as before it is displayed in that language.
The home page is the only page that this doesn't work on. I can navigate to any other part of the site in French or Spanish and everything but the Home page displays properly. Is there some strange setting I'm missing for the home/default page?
See my answer on How can I add translations to a Plone site front-page; you need to run the LinguaPlone setup:

When I click 'edit page' on my website's home page, it takes me to a different, older theme-ed version of the home page, which I no longer want to use. And for some weird reason, the link to both the different pages is same as well.
may be cached plugins is used? what have you set as your homepage, posts or page?
I have wordpress website with loco translate and two languages russian and ukrainian.
First russian language was created and later added ukrainian, therefore russian language loading by default when you visit the page. I want the main page to load in Ukrainian by default.
That is,
main.com/index.php is the Russian version, but you need to change it to
main.com/uk/main-ua
What i tryied ?
I did a redirect, but then the Ukrainian version is always loaded and it is impossible to change the language.
In the site settings, I set the default site language to Ukrainian, but this had no effect, as it was loaded in Russian and loaded.
I put in wp_config line define('WP_HOME', 'main.com/uk/main-ua') but it has no effect, russian version main.com/index.php is loaded anyway.
In the database, in the table wp_options, i changed the corresponding settings, the links in the menu changed to the "ukr" version, but the text of the links was not there, and the content of the main page remained "russians".
I'm confused now how to did it correctly. Who did this, give advice. Thanks.
Finally i found answer. There was mess in the polylang posts and the translations
some translations was not assigned to posts. So check if your post have translations first then go to "Languages" tab in admin panel and click on the star in the languages list.
I've got a website written in English, and have added Polylang Wordpress plugin and activated / added German. I also use the WP Bakery page builder to build the layout for the content.
Rather than manually re-build each German page for translating, I used the plugin Duplicate Page to copy the English language pages and then via the Quick Edit setting in the Pages Overview, I changed the titles, slugs/URLs, and language to German.
Here's where it gets interesting: The original English page shows in the Pages Overview that it has a German version. But the German version does not show that it has an English version.
I feel like I'm missing something really simple.... I have gone into the Page Editor and added the German version to English pages, but this doesn't work for the respective German pages. (see 3rd screenshot below.)

EN page with German version
DE page with no EN version

Help please?
I want to translate the navigation part of a plone website with LinguaPlone but it doesn't work (or at least I don't know how to do that).
How can I show the navigation in the correct language whenever the user switches the language?
I have tried to edit the folder in the other language but then both languages have the newly translated navigation entry.
Thanks
You did not specify which part of the navigation you mean (tabs, sitemap, etc.)
Plone+LinguaPlone navigation items are picked up by
By the current active language
Items which Language is set to "Language neutral"
Navigation is populated with "Title" of the content from the current language
Site map, top tab bar, etc. navigation portlets should be automatically translated. No special tricks needed, so you are doing something wrong.
I'm working on a multilanguage site (IT(default)-EN-DE) and I want to have a language-independent "front page" with the site logo and a custom menu with three different links:
For example:
IT -> sitename.it/about
EN -> sitename.it/en/about
DE -> sitename.it/de/about
Other internal pages (history,territory,about...) use i18n module language switcher block that function well.
I my front page (sitename.it) I've placed a simple menu block with 3 items but I can select only one language.
If I switch manually (through adress bar) to "sitename.it/de" or "/en" I see only "DE" or "EN" link; but my front page (only my front page!) must be unique and not language-dependent!
Any suggestions?
Thank you!
You can make your front page language independent by making sure all the content that appears on the front page is marked as "Language Neutral" (using Content Translation).
It does not matter if the landing page will be sitename.it/ sitename.it/en sitename.it/de cause it will show the same content (as long as all content on front page is language neutral)
