I am looking at the reverse geocoding for one of my applications. Is it possible to determine, the address or geocode of an address by giving an input ( geocode, diatnce from geocode and line of sight ( angle ) ). Does any of the Map APIs have these capability? Apologies if the question is very generic.
Thanks,
Srini.
For geocoding Read this:
https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/geocoding/?hl=en
and use this:
http://maps.googleapis.com/maps/api/geocode/json?latlng=40.714224,-73.961452&sensor=false
For distance Read this:
https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/distancematrix/?hl=en
and use this:
http://maps.googleapis.com/maps/api/distancematrix/json?origins=Vancouver+BC|Seattle&destinations=San+Francisco|Victoria+BC&mode=bicycling&language=fr-FR&sensor=false
Just found that we can do it with math.

I currently have a POC working that retrieves places information using the Places HERE api by passing Lat and Long values. Our addresses are being converted to lat and long before the api is called and we fear we might be losing precision in the process. Instead of feeding the API the coordinates, is there a way to send the actual address and get the address information back? Business name, type, etc?
res = requests.get('https://places.cit.api.here.com/places/v1/discover/here?app_id=<>&app_code=<>&at='+str(lat)+','+str(long))
Based on what I see in the API docs (https://developer.here.com/documentation/places/dev_guide/topics_api/resource-search.html) the answer is no. You can see more detail here as well: https://developer.here.com/documentation/places/dev_guide/topics/location-contexts.html. Is there a particular example of where you think geocoding is returning bad results?
Use Geocoder API to get coordinates for address and then use these coordinates to make a request to Places API.
I am trying to geocode a street interception through Here Geocoder API Forward Geocoding. However, with no success.
There is some example in the documentation:
https://developer.here.com/api-explorer/rest/geocoder/latitude-longitude-intersection
There is an obvious way to do what I want. However, there is a proxy endpoint, which I am not allowed to change and it accepts from client and passes to Here API only free form input.
I tried with the following string for my free form input value,it is the same as the documentation example:
State # Madison, Chicago
But got 0 results.
I just wonder if that is possible at all through Here Forward Geocoding-it seems difficult for implementation without some restriction to the free-form input format? Thanks in advance!
I got the result for street intersection with it, can you please try by using your appkey, id.
https://geocoder.api.here.com/6.2/geocode.json?city=Chicago&street=State%20and%20Madison&app_id=xxxx&app_code=xxxx&gen=9
if the search needs to be in free form, then below API call can work too, but here the search match level is based out of the city, not specific to street.
https://geocoder.api.here.com/6.2/geocode.json?searchtext=200%20S%20Mathilda%20Sunnyvale%20CA&app_id=xxxx&app_code=xxxx&gen=9
I'm trying to get speed limit from Here API maps but I can't find the way to do it. I tryed few example on web site but the only one that works is the one which require point of start and point of stop of the route.
I would like to get the speed limit given only one point ( or a box ). Which api do I have to use? Is there an example?
https://route.cit.api.here.com/routing/7.2/calculateroute.json?jsonAttributes=1&waypoint0=51.31854,9.51183&waypoint1=50.11208,8.68342&departure=2019-01-18T10:33:00&routeattributes=sh,lg&legattributes=li&linkattributes=nl,fc&mode=fastest;car;traffic:enabled&app_code=appcode&app_id=appid
This is the waypoint one but is not what I'm looking for, I would like to pass it only a Latitude / Longitude.
Thank you
You can achieve this by using PDE API(Platform Data Extension)
You have to first map your geocordinates(lat, long) to a navigable position(lat, long) for the given coord and the Functional Class(FC1-5) it is located in. This you can achieve by a simple geocoder request
You can calculate tilexy values based on the navigable lat, long and pass it to PDE API for querying speed limit layer on that particular FC class.
Look at https://tcs.ext.here.com/examples/v3/link_speed_locator example which covers this exact usecase.
Below is a sample geocoder request. Here prox parameter is your lat, long
https://reverse.geocoder.cit.api.here.com/6.2/reversegeocode.json?app_id=xxxx&app_code=yyyy&prox=50.133848, 8.715332,500&mode=retrieveAddresses&maxResults=1&additionaldata=SuppressStreetType,Unnamed&locationattributes=linkInfo
Below is a sample pde request
https://pde.cit.api.here.com/1/tiles.json?layers=SPEED_LIMITS_VAR_FC1,SPEED_LIMITS_VAR_FC2,SPEED_LIMITS_VAR_FC3,SPEED_LIMITS_VAR_FC4,SPEED_LIMITS_VAR_FC5,ROAD_GEOM_FC1,ROAD_GEOM_FC2,ROAD_GEOM_FC3,ROAD_GEOM_FC4,ROAD_GEOM_FC5&levels=9,10,11,12,13,9,10,11,12,13&tilexy=536,398,1073,797,2147,1594,4294,3188,8588,6377,536,398,1073,797,2147,1594,4294,3188,8588,6377&app_id=xxxx&app_code=yyyy
Read more about it in the developer site - https://developer.here.com/documentation/platform-data/topics/quick-start-view-map-data.html
Hope you find this useful!
The ReverseGeocoder has rarely used mode "trackPosition" (mode=trackPosition).
In combination with locationattributes=linkInfo you may retrieve the speed limit for that matching road.
I am new to Google Maps API and I have a requirement to integrate Google Maps API with an ASP.Net application. Is there a Google service where in I can input a UK postcode and radius as input parameters and get results only, without the map.
For example if I search for solicitors in a particular area like Z1 1XY (not real post code) with a radius of 5 mi, can I get the results of all solicitors with the postcodes 5 mile radius? Is there any service that would return the result set only? I know GeoCoding does something similar but can I provide radius as one of the input parameter and get results.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Seaton
The Geocoding API may only be used in conjunction with a Google map; geocoding results without displaying them on a map is prohibited. For complete details on allowed usage, consult the Maps API Terms of Service License Restrictions.

yes, you can use the Google Geocoding API to do address lookups (in this case postcodes). The response contains lat/lon co-ordinates which you can then subsequently use as the epicenter of your search to find items within a radius. Have a look at this blog post on how to use the DbGeography in .NET to perform radius queries based on lat/lon co-ordinates.
i want to get ONLY the road name in google maps not exact address, using either the geocoder or the directions service.i tried this results[0].address_components[1].long_name but it returns several different names (not necesserily wrong) on the same road.
You need to do a reverse geocode lookup on the location. Google provide this: http://code.google.com/apis/maps/documentation/geocoding/
