One simple advise keep it separate i.e.
Keep SilverStripe related code in $DOCUMENT_ROOT/.htaccess with RewriteBase /
Keep Wordpress related code in $DOCUMENT_ROOT/blog/.htaccess with RewriteBase /blog/

I have a laravel application in: domain.com/co/app that controls it routes/web.php with code Route::post('/co/app'... I have installed wordpress in the public folder of laravel (laravel/public/co) resulting in the blog: domain.com/co.
But when I activate the permalinks in wordpress the lavarel application (domain.com/co/app) I get a wordpress 404 error.
I have ignored the path of the application from the wordpress .htaccess RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !(app) [NC] but now I get an apache 404 error (The requested URL was not found on this server) and it does not show the laravel application.

I found the answer, in this special case, first you do not have to edit anything in the .htaccesss of laravel/public you only have to edit the wordpress (laravel/public/co). Ignoring the laravel application path with RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/co/app and adding a new module that points to the index.php of laravel/public
The problem is that WordPress can intentionally edit your .htaccess and delete our modification, for that we use a hack that is explained here.

My problem is the following: My company shares hosting with others, and we have the subdomain inside a "public_html" folder. I can enter the index of my page perfectly, that is in www.principal.com/mypage it enters perfectly.

Your problem is because the directives in the root level .htaccess are used even something might be directed to the site in the subfolder. Try something like this in public_html/.htaccess, to exclude requests sent to the subfoler:

I'm using two different opensource systems for a customer.
On the main directory I've installed wordpress.
In a sub directory (/shop) I've installed OpenCart 1.5.5
I want to have SEO url's enabled in OpenCart but when I enable this, my url becomes:
www.example.com/shop/category
The main htaccess from wordpress then checks if it knows the category and the post in wordpress and returns a 404.

Unfortunately, it seems that WordPress hijacks the rewrites for some of these scripts sometimes.
