HTTP Error 500.19 - Internal Server Error? - asp.net

I'm moving a pretty basic site from Win 2003 to Win 2008 R2. The site is getting the error listed below. How can I diagnose this? I moved a number of other sites between these 2 servers & this is the only on that is receiving this error.
I've seen the other posts on this issue, but none of them list a solution that works for me.
HTTP Error 500.19 - Internal Server Error
Error Code 0x8007000d
Config Source -1: 0:
UPDATE:
Here are some notes on what I checked:
1) Permissions via Process Monitor. The config file is being opened correctly.
2) .Net version - Tried multiple settings
3) Integrated vs classic pipeline
4) change enabled 32 bit to true
5) I have not tried Aspnet_regiis.exe yet because the other sites on the new box work fine.
Next I'm going to try & comment out various items in the config file

I found the issue! The issue was the following line in web.config. I found this by commenting various things out in web.config until the site worked. But why is this line an issue on my new 2008 box with IIS 7.5? What isn't installed or configured?
Update:
This was the line I commented out. Could this have been related to IIS Feature Delegation? If config settings in the <system.webServer> element are causing this error then Feature Delegation settings could be the problem.
<httpRuntime maxRequestLength="1000000"/>

run->cmd
run "c:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\aspnet_regiis.exe -i"
Run this command as a Administrator

You might have used the incorrect asp.net version. please check which version is selected from the iis application pool.

you probebly change your NT password.
Enter to IIS right click on your application -> manage application -> advanched Setting -> physical path credentials.
good luck

Please check this topic for possible answer:
How do I resolve “HTTP Error 500.19 - Internal Server Error” on IIS7.0
Answer that is not marked as resolution helped to me. I was missing: Url Rewrite Module

In my case the issue was solved by running VS2017 in admin mode.

Local IIS 7 Returns 500 Error. Can't get details

I have tried all of the solution out there and have resolved nothing. It's a MVC 4 site on IIS 7 that I'm tryuing to get set up. Local browsing of the site won't display detail error information. Does anyone have any other suggestions?
So far I have done...
Checked MachineConfig for for .net 4 both 32 and 64 bit. It was not there so it shouldn't interfere.
Set customErrors mode="Off" in all config files.
Changed settings for DefaultErrorPages in the Site Settings to always display details.
Conducted an IISReset
Enabled failed request logging. Nothing was logged.
Checked the site error logs.=. Nothing indicated an error.
Checked Windows Logs. No errors logged under the IIS section.
Checked that the App Pool was running under .Net 4 and that it was set to integrated mode.
Turned off friendly errors in the setting for the browser
PS this is a production web server running Windows 2008R2 and IIS 7.0
I found the problem. One of the system admins had cloned the original production site intending for it to be used for the production beta, which was what I was setting up. Of course there was no communication as to what was needed to be kept in the copied site. Well it turns out there was a web.config in the original code that was doing a redirect to another location. Thus none of the new site configs were even being accessed. I removed all of the old code and it started working.

404.17 - Unable to serve any aspx pages

I am unable to get my website loaded in-browser after deploying it to our server.
The specific error I'm getting is:
HTTP Error 404.17 - Not Found The requested content appears to be
script and will not be served by the static file handler.
I've checked out a few other questions talking about this error and have done some research online as well.
I can verify that ASP.NET is installed (both 3.5 and 4.5).
I can verify that .aspx is found in the handlers for the site.
The site is running in a .NET v4.0 Application Pool
I've run the aspnet_regiis.exe -i executable from the command line in the appropriate folder.
I am running IIS 8.0
Any help would be greatly appreciated...
Let me know if I can provide any further detail.
In Windows Server 2012, there's two different places to look to see if ASP.NET is installed.
( I was not checking both... )
See below:
I faced same problem lots of time . just go to IIS -> select your website -> go to handler mapping and then press revert to parent option . it will solve your problem i think .

Windows 2008 R2 IIS7 windows authentication not working

I have a dev and prod Windows 2008 R2 servers with IIS7 and siteminder, which as far as I can tell are setup the same. Issue being the production websites work but the development ones do not.
Issue being that when I navigate to any dev website, it says "the page cannot be displayed because an internal server error has occured." I do not get a challenge in dev (which I believe is the cause of the issue), but I do in prod. This goes for classic ASP pages or ASP.NET pages.
Some findings :-
- IIS has Windows authentication enabled and all others disabled
- Windows Authentication Provider is Negotiate (tried Negotiate:Kerberos, same result)
- WindowsAuthentication and WindowsAuthenticationModule (Native) are both present in Modules
- WindowsAuthentication is installed under Server Manager -> IIS -> Roles
- Upon receipt of the above error message, IIS logs shows the access with error 401 2 5
All the solutions I found online either do not have the right setup as I do above, or suggests I disable Windows authentication and enable Anonymous Authentication. If I do so, all works fine but the only issue being my websites require Windows authentication to identify the user. I'm at my wit's end and am just short of reinstalling something in hope it works. Any possibilities or log files that I have overlooked?
After screwing around a bit I finally solved my problem ... hope this helps someone.
I realized in fact ASP pages were working but ASP.NET pages were not working
When I had turned on Anonymous Authentication, the ASP.NET pages were now giving 500 0 or 500 19 errors in IIS logs, instead of 401 2 5 with Windows Authentication
I tried to launch a ASP.NET page from within the localhost and got then 500 error with a more detailed error saying I should use relative path in httpErrors under web.config (??)
At this point I realized I had earlier changed the 403 error to a custom file at the default website level, then changed it back. Despite changing it back to it's previous value, What this ended up doing was adding a "remove" then an "add" tag, both for 403.htm, under httpErrors in the wwwroot/web.config. After I deleted the entire httpErrors segment, my websites started working again.
Reverting back to Windows Authentication at this point also worked.
So some take aways is to test websites locally first and keep in mind the existing of the wwwroot/web.config giving near untraceable errors ...

IIS 7.5 and Razor Site: 500 errors for CSS and JS

For some reason, when I deploy my Razor MVC web site to my Windows 2008 R2 server, I'm getting 500 internal server errors for all CSS and JS. I'm not sure why, because I've done the following:
Enabled static content in IIS
Enabled anonymous access, with the default ID being the application pool identity and given that identity read/write permission to the folders
Ensured my static content handler was setup correctly
What other problems could it be? How can I even debug this to see what the actual error is? Even though I have an Application_Error handler, nothing is getting logged. And IIS logs doesn't give me the error info?
Thanks.
Mime-Types were my trouble
I had the same problem. My css and js was not delivered. Server says internal error.
I found out that i added the mimetype for mp4 in the global settings of the iis and also added the mime type in one of my websites as well.
That was a problem. This mime-type can only exist in the website or global, not both.
I deleted tehe global mimetype and everything worked like it should be.
Hope to help some guys of you.
Just found, that I've added to web.config *.woff MIME for IIS 7.5, so when deploying on IIS8, it's causes static files error. After removing that from web.config everything is fine.
I got 500 errors because I added this below to my web.config. After I removed it, I got passed the error.
<staticContent>
<mimeMap fileExtension=".svg" mimeType="image/svg+xml" />
</staticContent>
To rule out one basic permissions situation, try this:
Select your web site and go into Basic Settings.
Take note of which application pool your site is running under.
Exit out of there and select the Application Pools node.
Find the application pool for your site, and take note of which identity (account) that application pool is running under.
If the account is a specific user identity -- in other words, if it's not a built-in account (such as ApplicationPoolIdentity, Network Service, Local System, etc) then:
Launch your Local Users and Groups.
Find and open the local IIS_IUSRS group.
If the account in question is not a member of the group, add it.
Reinstalling IIS fixed the problem.
If you are on your local server and taking this error, please check if you have any missing packages. Catch errors in global.asax and if neccessary reload all packages with;
Update-Package -reinstall
in Package manager console.
Hope it helps.

Deploy ASP.Net site, only error 500

I've had this problem in the past, and the solution was always a configuration issue, or needed to run aspnet_regiis -i or something. But aspnet_regiis doesn't fix the problem, and I can't find anything that would be wrong in any configuration file.
Is there some log that I'm not looking in that would tell me exactly what "500 - Internal server error" I'm actually hitting?
If it's the 500 - Internal Server Error page that looks like this that you're seeing:
Then you can have IIS7 to pass the detailed error back to the client by configuring the following:
<system.webServer>
<httpErrors existingResponse="PassThrough" />
</system.webServer>
If you're using IE then remember to turn off Show friendly HTTP error messages (in Tools -> Options -> Advanced), but you knew that already :).
If that still doesn't shed any light on the problem then you can use Failed Request Tracing which is a very effective diagnostic tool:
Troubleshooting Failed Requests Using Tracing in IIS 7
Administrative Tools / Computer Management / Event Viewer / Application Log
I think.. Not in front of a windows box right now. You should see in that log some events that correspond to your 500 errors. They will give you more info.
