Flex setting visibility based on slider - apache-flex

I have an image gallery app that has a slider to control the width of the thumbnails that ranges from 80 to 1024. As you move the slider the thumbnails width changes to effectively scaling the image between 80px and 1024px. Below the thumbnail is some information about the image such as the name, size, dimensions, etc. There is also a set of icons that do various tasks (delete, edit, copy, etc). All of this information is located within a VBox.
The problem I am having is I would like to have the VBox hide when the width of the thumbnail reaches 150 px or below. This I have been able to accomplish with the following code:

The issue is that while the information within the VBox is now not visible, the real estate it takes up is not released. In other words, there is now a blank space the exact size of the VBox. What I'd like to do is to be able to release this space.
I know this is probably something simple that I'm overlooking, but today my brain is just not working, so any help will be appreciated.
BTW: I am using the Flex 3.6 SDK.

Try using includeInLayout:

Responsive CheckBox JAVAFX

This is my first javaFX project. The project I'm working on includes a feature where the application window can be resized. Upon resizing the window, I expect all objects in my window to increase proportionally according to the window resize. I am not getting this to work with the "CheckBox" Objects.
As you can see below highlighted in red, a CheckBox object is shown before and after a window resize. Before the resize the red checkbox nicely fits in the green box, but after the resize, the red checkbox is the correct (scaled) width, but did not increase in height as I'd expect. Where should I begin my effort to make my CheckBox objects more vertically responsive?

As you can see (IN RED), the CheckBox scales horizontally as I expect, but it doesn't scale vertically to occupy the remaining space!
After a lot more research and helpful responses, I gathered a solution that works.
A "DoubleProperty" object is made, and binded to the width of the container holding my checkboxes. Call this container, "dryLeafGridPane" for example.
DoubleProperty checkboxFontSize = new SimpleDoubleProperty(10);
checkboxFontSize.bind((dryLeafGridPane.widthProperty().divide(36)));
The .divide(36) scales the CheckBox's font size to 1/36 the gridpane's width.
Finally, I just add the new font size using CSS.
dryLeafGridPane.styleProperty().bind(Bindings.concat("-fx-font-size: ", checkboxFontSize.asString()));

You can choose to increase the font size on the root pane when you go full screen. For example:
rootPane.setStyle("-fx-font-size: 150%;");
That isn't perfect though... it seems the size of the box that is checked doesn't scale with the font.

Having trouble resizing a QLabel in a QScrollArea

I'm trying to follow the example at the below link to have a picture (in a qlabel) shown in a scrollable area.

I'm using Qt Designer to make the ui instead of hardcoding everything. So I have a QLabel, in a QWidget (with a grid layout assigned to it), in a QScrollArea.
From the tutorial, they state the following for the sizepolicy of the QLabel:
We set imageLabel's [QLabel] size policy to ignored, making the users able to scale the image to whatever size they want when the Fit to Window option is turned on. Otherwise, the default size policy (preferred) will make scroll bars appear when the scroll area becomes smaller than the label's minimum size hint.
Setting it to ignored fits to the window, as expected and as stated. Setting it to preferred provides scroll bars when the image is larger than the scroll area, also as expected and as stated. My issue is that when the sizepolicy is set to preferred, the resize function of the QLabel doesn't work. It always stays at the default size of the loaded image. The only way that I'm able to get the resize function to work is when I don't assign a layout/break the layout to the widget in the QScrollArea, but then no scrollbars will appear when the image is larger than the QScrollArea.
Does anyone have any ideas of how to make the resize function and scrollbars work at the same time?

Zoom & crop an image and draw an svg-square on top (in angular)

Basically what I'm trying to do is to have a square drawn above a certain position in an image (<img>), and have that dynamically adjust to the image while being zoomed in / out and cropped. The stackblitz link has 3 views, the basic view which is a plain image, a zoomable view (which I got working as well) and a view where the imaged is "zoomed in and cropped" while being zoomable - This is where I need your help.
Should I crop using object-fit in some way? Is it better if I use a canvas to handle this? I've been at this for a whole day I and I feel my css knowledge is too limited to pull this of.
Bonus question: How would I go about to have the zoom-in zoom-out buttons add/remove one image per row using only css flex-box? (ie: not statically adding x pixles in height and width, but rather increase or decrease the size of each image so that another image is removed or added (per row) while always filling up all the available space)

ListView set height to show all items without scrolling

In my Xamarin.Forms app I have a ListView and I want to make the height big enough so that it shows all the items without having to scroll. How can I do this?
The point of ListView is to make sure that you can display all the data on any screen size, by using scrolling on a smaller screens that cannot fit all the data.
I am sorry but your question does not make sense. You cannot set a fixed / static height value that will work across different devices. Setting fixed UI size does not make sense on Xamarin.Forms in general unless you will distribute your application for a single device with a fixed screen size.

Preventing layouts from expanding beyond the window size

I'm trying to make my UI content expand nicely when the user resizes the window. I'm doing this in Qt Designer and learning about layouts and size policies.
Seems that everything is working fine for now: one layout stays within its maximum size, while another expands with the window resize, and they all stay above their minimum sizes. That's great and all, but the problem is that if I have a list with a lot of items, or if I am displaying a very large image, it will expand beyond the available window space and cause the window to be huge.
How can I specify something along the lines of "do not expand beyond the available window space"? I've played around with the size policies, but I couldn't get it to work. Is this something I need to set for the form itself rather than the layouts it contains?
I should specify this is the desired behavior: Display the widget as large as the available window, even if the widget content is too small. Expand/Shrink the widget to fill the window when the window is resized. Do not expand beyond the available window space. The widgets in question are 2 images (labels) and 1 list view.
I set the size policy to "ignored" for the respective widgets. That fixed it.
Or you can set the window maximum size.
