No Aptana Samples? - aptana

I just discovered Aptana, and I think it really has some potential. One bad thing i've noticed is that my "samples" pane is completely empty? I just downloaded "Aptana Studio 3, build: 3.0.9.201202141038"
How can I get all the samples to appear? If it matters, I'm interested in having Javascript and jquery samples.

There are no built-in samples at the moment (I assume some will be added in the future).

MSIX: How to achieve automatic install of .net 5 required for my application?

I wrote a WPF program using .NET 5, packed it into the MSIX bundle (Release, x86 and x64) as a framework-dependent package. Everything seems fine, but there is one very annoying thing: on the first run the app says ".NET runtime is missing, would you like to install it?”. If you click yes, the download page opens, where the user has to select the needed runtime, download, and install it. Not the best user experience, I'm thinking about how to improve it.
Is there an option to add .net 5 runtimes (x86 or x64 depending on the user system, or maybe both) as a dependency so it installed automatically?
I know I can define dependencies, but how can I find the right name for the needed dependency?
Also, I know it's possible to define custom install action but I haven't tried it yet, because I want to find a simpler solution. Looks like for that option I'll have to create a small app or script that will check if the needed runtime exists and if not - check the platform and ask the user to install the specific version of the runtime. Not the best user experience too.
Of course, I still have an option to go with self-contained, but I don't want to distribute so many megabytes of .net every time, especially given the fact that I expect frequent updates.

if it's an application based on .NET Core / .NET 5 (as I seem to understand from the description), the suggested and best way to distribuite via MSIX is to use the self-deployment approach. Thanks to MSIX features like differential updates and single disk instance, you don't have to worry too much about the increased size, since the runtime will be downloaded only at the first install.
Dependencies are not a good fit because there are no packages for .net 5 yet.
Custom install actions are possible but more complicated, so I decided to go with self-contained.

IntelliSense & .NetCore

I've been using .NetCore for some smaller projects and I generally love it, but there are a few issues, of which one has been irritating me quite a bit:
In this example a lot of the configuration stuff uses extension methods to hang extra features off of Json, Command Line, Object Binding etc... In these cases all of which live in separate packages. When you see some code examples which typically include one or more of them you naturally copy them into a project to try them out, giving you compile errors when you try to build them.
Asking VS for guidance (pressing good old Ctrl Dot), doesn't help and so you have to search for the relevant packages you need followed by more searches in Nuget installing each one as required.
So my question is (Drum Roll Please) am I missing something or is there a tool/setting or extension that can give me suggestions based on exported extension methods on Nuget's public packages when you press Ctrl Dot on the error much like suggestions on missing namespaces?

If you are targeting netcoreapp2.1 you can use the metapackage which will include all of "supported" packages from Microsoft.

How can I upgrade my Realm Swift version from 0.96 to 0.97?

Can I just replace the two old version realm frameworks to the new version ones? Or what should I do?
Yep! If you're not using a dependency manager like CocoaPods or Carthage, you just need to delete the old framework folders and copy the new ones into the same place. Xcode should be fine handling that the next time you attempt to build your project.
If you are using a dependency manager, then you just need to hit the update command in their command line tools, and it'll be taken care of automatically.
Please keep in mind that Realm 0.97 has completely removed all of its previously deprecated APIs, so if you were using any of those, you will get build errors, but they'll be very easy to fix.
I cam up with the same question and while looking around came up with a good solution. This is in addition to what TiM has pointed out. Also, a few things to keep in mind:
I upgraded from version 1.0 to 1.0.1: so there weren't many changes to the framework and commands I used in my app.
I didn't use any special or very specific commands. Mainly the queries and writes/updates of objects. Nothing very fancy. If you have very specific requirements of Realm than I suggest look into those and see if there are any special changes to how they are managed.
Now to the steps:
Remove the frameworks from the "Embedded Binaries" section by clicking the "-":
General Tab - Embedded Binaries
Remove the frameworks from the project itself by right-clicking on them and select "Delete"
Navigator - Framework Files
Now just go and do the steps for installing the frameworks as found in the documentation "realm.io/docs/swift/latest/#installation-swift-22".
I understand this question is rather old, but looking through the SO I dint find a definite answer to this.

How do I get the Assembly version from my sln into a continuous integration labeller?

I want to obtain the assembly version from my solution and apply that to a cc.net label. I think I'm doing it backwards since all the info out there have the CI server set the version. But I'm not sure how to integrate different release versions and the development branch into CI. Every time we release we up the revision number. Would/should I add a new project in cc.net for every branch? Is there a way to automatically get the latest branch? Sorry for so many different questions in one...question. I'm new to this CI stuff.

You will find this all much easier if you switch to TeamCity. I've wrestled with so many nant scripts/cruisecontrol config files in the past I'm almost blind from angle brackets.
I cried like the accountant who was shown the first spreadsheet program when I started messing with TeamCity. It will make your life 1000% easier.

How do you handle versioning on a Web Application?

What are the strategies for versioning of a web application/ website?
I notice that here in the Beta there is an svn revision number in the footer and that's ideal for an application that uses svn over one repository. But what if you use externals or a different source control application that versions separate files?
It seems easy for a Desktop app, but I can't seem to find a suitable way of versioning for an asp.net web application.
NB I'm not sure that I have been totally clear with my question.
What I want to know is how to build and auto increment a version number for an asp.net application.
I'm not interested in how to link it with svn.
I think what you are looking for is something like this: How to auto-increment assembly version using a custom MSBuild task. It's a little old but I think it will work.
For my big apps I just use a incrementing version number id (1.0, 1.1, ...) that i store in a comment of the main file (usually index.php).
For just websites I usually just have a revision number (1,2,3,...).
I have a tendency to stick with basic integers at first (1,2,3), moving onto rational numbers (2.1, 3.13) when things get bigger...

Unfortunately, confusion started to set in when the development team grew, is it an Orange, or Mandarin, or Tangelo? It looks ok. What do you mean "rotten on the inside?"
... but in all honesty. Setup a separate repository as a master, development goes on in various repositories. For every scheduled release everything is checked into the master repository so that you can quickly roll back when something goes wrong.
(I'm assuming dev/test/production are all separate servers, and dev is never allowed to touch production or the master repository....)
I maintain a system of web applications with various components that live in separate SVN repos. To be able to version track the system as a whole, I have another SVN repo which contains all other repos as external references. It also contains install / setup script(s) to deploy the whole thing. With that setup, the SVN revision number of the "metarepository" could possibly be used for versioning the complete system.
In another case, I include the SVN revision via SVN keywords in a class file that serves no other purpose (to avoid the risk of keyword substitution breaking my code). The class in that file contains a string variable that is manipulated by SVN and parsed by a class method.
An inconvenience with both approaches is that the revision number is not automatically updated by changes in the externals (approach 1) or the rest of the code (approach 2).
During internal development, I'm using milestone numbers (M1, M2, M3...). After release, I'll probably just update dates ("the January 2009 update").
