i have a problem in my project to find the Last Modified date of a site..
is any code to find that in asp.net
thanks in advance..
Check out this question
How can you mine the "Last Modified Date" for an ASP.NET page which is based on a Master Page?
the basic code you need is this
Dim strPath As String = Request.PhysicalPath
Label1.Text = "Modified: " + System.IO.File.GetLastWriteTime(strPath).ToString()
FileInfo.LastWriteTime should give you what you need:
System.IO.File.GetLastWriteTime(Request.PhysicalPath).ToString();
According to your comment on the other answer, you instead want to get the last modified time of any web-site (not your own ASP.NET page). You could use Net.HttpWebRequest to request a given URL to get the LastModified property of the HttpResponse:
Protected Sub GetLastModifiedTimeOfWebPage(sender As Object, e As EventArgs)
Dim url = Me.TxtURL.Text.Trim
If Not url.StartsWith("http:") Then url = "http://" & url
Dim ResponseStatus As System.Net.HttpStatusCode
Dim lastModified As Date
Try
lastModified = RequestLastModified(url, ResponseStatus)
Catch ex As System.Exception
' log and/or throw
Throw
End Try
If ResponseStatus = Net.HttpStatusCode.OK Then
Me.LblLastModified.Text = lastModified.ToString
End If
End Sub
Public Shared Function RequestLastModified( _
ByVal URL As String, _
ByRef retStatus As Net.HttpStatusCode
) As Date
Dim lastModified As Date = Date.MinValue
Dim req As System.Net.HttpWebRequest
Dim resp As System.Net.HttpWebResponse
Try
req = DirectCast(Net.HttpWebRequest.Create(New Uri(URL)), Net.HttpWebRequest)
req.Method = "HEAD"
resp = DirectCast(req.GetResponse(), Net.HttpWebResponse)
retStatus = resp.StatusCode
lastModified = resp.LastModified
Catch ex As Exception
Throw
Finally
If resp IsNot Nothing Then
resp.Close()
End If
End Try
Return lastModified
End Function
Note: Many sites lie with this property and return only the current time.

I'm trying to set up my program to connect to my FTP and download files directly from my server. This what I have so far. I don't know what I'm doing wrong, or where I'm going wrong, because no matter how I code it either says "End Expected" or "Method can't handle etc due to signatures not being compatible"
I don't know what I'm doing wrong, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Private Sub Button16_Click(sender As Object, e As EventArgs) Handles Button16.Click
(ByVal downloadpath As String, ByVal ftpuri As String, ByVal ftpusername As String, ByVal ftppassword As String)
'Create a WebClient.
Dim request As New WebClient()
' Confirm the Network credentials based on the user name and password passed in.
request.Credentials = New Net.NetworkCredential("Username", "Password")
'Read the file data into a Byte array
Dim bytes() As Byte = request.DownloadData("ftp://ftp.yourwebsitename/file.extension")
Try
' Create a FileStream to read the file into
Dim DownloadStream As FileStream = IO.File.Create("C:\Local\Test.zip")
' Stream this data into the file
DownloadStream.Write(bytes, 0, bytes.Length)
' Close the FileStream
DownloadStream.Close()
Catch ex As Exception

End Try

End Sub
You probably pasted an existing method inside a Button.Click handler by mistake.
Rebuilding what was probably the original method is almost enough.
Note that this FTP procedure is a quite basic. You can rely on it only when downloading from a known remote resource. Also, as it it, it doesn't allow to show the download progress or even to cancel it.
Maybe take a look at the WebClient.DownloadDataAsync method, which allows to easily implement a progress bar and cancel the download procedure, when needed.
Also, if you're interested, in this SO question, you can find some notes and a sample Form, which can be included in a Project, to test some features of the FtpWebRequest.

Here is a Console solution. Compile this into a exe file, and run it by double-clicking the executable or get a scheduler (i.e., Windos Task Scheduler) to open and run the file (it runs as soon as it opens).

I am new to programming and get the chance to work and maintain in another developers project.
The project is built with ASP.Net Vb.Net and SQl Server.
I am trying to select the primary key ID (which is actually a GUID) from a table.
SQID = Core.DB.GetString("SELECT id FROM SQC WHERE sid = " & sid)
In the Table SQC the primary key is id which is guid and the sid is also guid which is primary key to another table.
my previous developer developed the code to select string variable GetString function where GetString is
Shared Function GetString(ByVal selectQueryText As String, ByVal ParamArray params As SqlParameter()) As String
Dim dt As DataTable = Nothing
Try
dt = GetData(selectQueryText, CommandType.Text, params)
If dt.Rows.Count = 0 Then
Return ""
Else
If TypeOf dt.Rows(0)(0) Is DBNull Then
Return ""
Else
Return CStr(dt.Rows(0)(0))
End If
End If
Finally
If dt IsNot Nothing Then dt.Dispose()
End Try
End Function
When I debug the code my process enters into GetString Function and from Get String it goes to GetData function
Shared Function GetData(ByVal selectCommandText As String, ByVal selectCommandType As CommandType, ByVal ParamArray params As SqlParameter()) As DataTable
Dim conn As SqlConnection = Nothing
Try
conn = GetOpenSqlConnection()
Return GetData(conn, selectCommandText, selectCommandType, params)
Finally
If conn IsNot Nothing Then conn.Dispose()
End Try
End Function
Shared Function GetData(ByVal conn As SqlConnection, ByVal selectCommandText As String, ByVal selectCommandType As CommandType, ByVal ParamArray params As SqlParameter()) As DataTable
If conn Is Nothing Then Return GetData(selectCommandText, selectCommandType, params)
Dim sa As SqlDataAdapter = Nothing
Try
sa = New SqlDataAdapter(selectCommandText, conn)
sa.SelectCommand.CommandType = selectCommandType
Dim dt As New DataTable
Try
For Each param As SqlParameter In params
sa.SelectCommand.Parameters.Add(param)
Next
sa.Fill(dt)
Return dt
Catch ex As Exception
dt.Dispose()
Throw ex
End Try
Finally
If sa IsNot Nothing Then sa.Dispose()
End Try
End Function
In the Try Catch area of exeption handling the code breaks and throws the exception error. It saying Incorrect syntax near 'a379'. which is first the part of sid (GUID). I mean the sid value is 9417A379-6371-432F-9DA5-BCFC46DD95A1
I am not sure how to handle this. I want to select the id from from SQC table and store it in a variable.
I am looking for your advice and suggestion. As I am new in the programming world please also point me my mistakes.
Thanks
It looks like your issue could be fixed like so:
SQID = Core.DB.GetString("SELECT id FROM SQC WHERE sid = '" & sid & "'")
But you should be aware that this style of code is open to SQL injection and you may want to look at ways of parameterising your queries (i.e. don't take what's in this project as good practice).
So I was struggling with making head or tail out of the PayPal documentation and always felt that something was not right with my Webrequest.
So I stripped all the code back to basic and simply submitted the request via HTTP and the PLUS side is that I now get a response back from the PayPal sandbox server where ACK=Success and TOKEN=Valid-token-value-here there are some other variables returned too, such as CORRELATIONID and TIMESTAMP.
And hence so I tried some of the webrequest samples and I simply get a blank screen instead of being redirected to Paypal for the (sandbox) customer to complete payment.
So if anyone can post their WebRequest method that would be great.
Here is the code I used for my webrequest, I'm sure its wrong but cannot pinpoint where it is going wrong.
Also, when I run the code on my localhost during debugging, everything works fine and the call is completed with SUCCESS and a TOKEN is received.
When I run it live, I recieve Error Number 5 in the Error exception and also the text `Remote host failed to connect' in the STATUS DESCRIPTION.

OK, so it's now clear that you're not getting any response from the server because your server isn't able to connect to PayPal's servers at all. Hence, you got no server-response and the message Unable to connect to the remote server. When I tested, I got a HTTP 200 response with the following body:
TIMESTAMP=2015-07-07T09:07:39Z&CORRELATIONID=7f4d2313c9696&ACK=Failure&VERSION=93.0&BUILD=17276661&L_ERRORCODE0=10002&L_SHORTMESSAGE0=Authentication/Authorization Failed&L_LONGMESSAGE0=You do not have permissions to make this API call&L_SEVERITYCODE0=Error
Obviously that's because I tested with a blank username and password.
So, something is wrong with your server setup that's preventing you from making outside connections, either at the IIS level or due to your firewall configuration.
Without physically being present at your machine, there's not a lot we can do to track down what's blocking it, but you can try opening HTTP requests to other public websites like Google.com and see if those succeed.
I am developing app where I need to capture an Information from Webpage after giving credentials automatically. Some how I managed to do Automatic login and redirection of page. Here is my code :
HttpWebRequest req = (HttpWebRequest)WebRequest.Create("https://abcd.com.au/categories/A_dfn/sdf");
HttpWebResponse res = req.GetResponse() as HttpWebResponse;
StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder();
byte[] buf = new byte[10000];
Stream resStream = res.GetResponseStream();
string s = null;
int c = 0;
do
{
c = resStream.Read(buf, 0, buf.Length);
if (c != 0) {
s = ASCIIEncoding.ASCII.GetString(buf, 0, c);
sb.Append(s);
}
} while (c > 0);
string oldhead = "class=\"login_button\">";
string newhead = "class=\"login_button\"> <script type=\"text/javascript\">document.getElementById('btn').click()</script>";
sb.Replace(oldhead, newhead);
string oldbtn = "value=\"Submit\"";
string newbtn = "value=\"Submit\" id=\"btn\" ";
sb.Replace(oldbtn, newbtn);
string oldAction = "<form action=\"/login\" method=\"post\">";
string newAction = "<form action=\"https://abcd.com.au/login?orig_req_url=%2Fcategories/A_dfn/sdf\" method=\"post\">";
sb.Replace(oldAction, newAction);
string oldUsername = "<input id=\"login_email\" type=\"text\" name=\"user[email_address]\" class=\"textBox\" value=\"\">";
string newUserName = "<input id=\"login_email\" type=\"text\" name=\"user[email_address]\" class=\"textBox\" value=\"abc#xyz.com.au\">";
sb.Replace(oldUsername, newUserName);
string oldPass = "<input id=\"login_password\" type=\"password\" name=\"user[password]\" class=\"textBox\" value=\"\">";
string newPass = "<input id=\"login_password\" type=\"password\" name=\"user[password]\" class=\"textBox\" value=\"abc\">";
sb.Replace(oldPass,newPass);
Response.Write(sb);
This is show me expected output as I want by rendering page(Response.write(sb)). But, now I want to do same thing without redirecting to "https://abcd.com.au/login?orig_req_url=%2Fcategories/A_dfn/sdf" and want to do more stuff on this. I expect to get output of Response.Write(sb) in some buffer. Is it possible to do?
Here is example, that explains exactly what I want to do.
I am looking for an product's qty say name : Screw 15mm, this resides in page https://abcd.com.au/%2Fcategories/A_dfn/sdf.
So, I am requesting this url first, but as need login to access that page, its redirecting me to login page, filling username and password, pressing login button by using javascript,and then redirected to Originally Requested page. And on this page I want to find for that product, and return information to my web app.
All this I want to do without showing to user.
I just want to show retrieved information.
Thanks.
What you are looking for is a persisted session. Your approach towards this problem is incorrect. You are triggering the submit on the client-side. What you are trying to achieve should be done on the server-side.
The key to your scenario is to persist (store) the session & cookies set by the login page; then before your next request for the product info, inject the credential into the requesting webRequest.
Use the WebRequest object to load the login page.
Store any info (cookies) sent by the login page Response header.
create a new WebRequest object with the provided Response header, inject in userid/password.
Store any credentials returned by the Response.
Proceed to request for the quote info.
There is no generic way to do this without knowing the website you are trying to screen-scrap from. But the general step is as above. Basically, you need to create a custom class for this.
Also, you need HTMLAgilityPack to parse the HTML nodes. It is the correct method.
EDIT: Added my codes. Just so happen that I've created this class before sometime ago. So, you're in luck. However, you will need HTMLAgilityPack installed & referenced to use it. You can download HAP at: http://htmlagilitypack.codeplex.com/ If you want to do any serious screen-scraping, HAP is the de-facto standard.
Public Class clsBrowserSession
'=================================================================================================================================
'This is a special Browser Post class
' Instead of just POST to a URL as per the clsWeb.fnsPostResponse()

Just make the above into a class object and instantiate it. The usage example is in the comment. You want the vsResponseHTML string.
I am using VS-2008 for asp.net web application. However, I have developed my reports in VS 2005. ( I am reusing some reports that were developed in other project).
The reports work fine except the image field is not displayed. The image field is a 'VARBINARY(MAX)' field in database. Note that when I export my Crystal Report to .pdf the images shows up in the .pdf file.

For those of us running migrated projects from .Net 4.0 or lower to 4.5+ I have made an observation. It seems if your page that contains the viewer is in a subdirectory then the image urls are being generated relative to that page and not to the root of the web application. E.g if your page is /gl/accounts.aspx then the image may be /gl/crystalimagehandler.aspx etc
A quick way to fix this is to change your handler mapping to a wildcard ending in crystalimagehandler.aspx or put the following code in Global.asax
protected void Application_BeginRequest(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
var p = Request.Path.ToLower().Trim();
if (p.EndsWith("/crystalimagehandler.aspx") && p!= "/crystalimagehandler.aspx")
{
var fullPath=Request.Url.AbsoluteUri.ToLower();
var index = fullPath.IndexOf("/crystalimagehandler.aspx");
Response.Redirect(fullPath.Substring(index));
}
}
