In Wordpress I have created a custom field 'LatLonPosition' which contains different positions in the following format '48.96N, 10.23W'.
I was wondering if it's possible to pull the custom field content so that it displays a google map on each posts of the coordinates.
I know you can download google map plugins, but I was hoping to do this with the custom field if possible.
Hope someone can help.
Thank heaps
Though i have started working on word-press and php but its quite possible what you are trying to achieve
You can use either
get_post_custom_values()
if you are not concerned with the uniqueness else word-press also provides get_post_meta()
here are the details
Accessing post custom fields

Edit : the thing I was looking for is called Custom Post Type in the WordPress World
Disclaimer: it is my first steps with WordPress and I realize I do not have the right vocabulary to make a proper google search, so please excuse me if this answer has been already asked many times ...
I'm working on a website that use an old preexisting WordPress as headless CMS.
On this new website, I need to display some "job offers"
On the preexisting WordPress, those job offers are just HTML blocks embedded in a page. So I can't get only those without having the embedded page HTML and CSS
If I could have created a custom REST API to get those "job offers", I would have said that those resources would look like this :
{
title : string,
description: string
}
My first idea would be to create a WordPress custom end point, but I do not know if it is possible to create custom entities (entries (?) If I take up the vocabulary of strapi)
Is this something that can be done?
I've tried :
basic google search
reading the strapi and wordpress documentation
I expect to be referred to a solution or to know what to search
The thing you're looking for are Custom post types if that can help a plugin called ACF can help with the custom fields.
I am a complete newb to wordpress. I am trying to help a friend out. She asked me to help her move her wordpress instance to another hosting provider.
I have done that for the most part. My issue is the original provider implemented a not-so-obvious way of an isotope filter on some UI elements.
Specifically the object is a company. Each company has a logo, the name of the company, a short description and a contact name / email.
These companies service states / areas and the idea behind the page is to select the state and only the companies for that state are visible.
From the brief searching I have done - there seems to be an overwhelming amount of plugins to support this.
I have tried creating a simple post with a featured image and adding in the text in the excerpt.
My problem is the links. I don't want the links to go back to the post - rather I want the links to go to a custom URL.
Is there a plugin that will allow me to define a custom post type (to include categories) and then filter on it similar to Isotope type of filtering?
There are many free plugins but if you are using the Elementor page builder. I am not advertising my product but as I saw your requirement matches a plugin that I am selling in the market.
The frontend filtering feature is not yet available to the released version but will be released soon. It basically allows you to build a custom grid as you like.
Is it something similar?

You have to create a custom post, there should be a custom field(custom URL) as well.
Or, You may create a WordPress query. https://developer.wordpress.org/reference/classes/wp_query/
also, coding will be required for filtering
I'm trying to find information on creating my own custom rss feed for my custom post types in Wordpress.
The way I have set up my custom post types mean that the 'title' can be duplicated (although I fixed this for tags before anyone mentions it!).
Anyway, what I'm looking for is to display my title and custom meta for each of the feed's items but I just can't find any info.
Can anyone give me any ideas?
Cheers
I actually found the answer quite easily...
Create a new template (i.e. feeds/my-new-feed.php)
Copy the code from wp-includes/feed-rss2.php into this new template
Do whatever it is you need to do to display whatever you want to.
Create a new page which uses that template
Hope this helps someone else.
Im working on a wordpress powered website for a client that involves a directory of local offices. Part of their requirement is that live sorting be implemented via drop downs, so when someone selects X Office in X Area, the page dynamically loads the relevant results.
I currently have a custom post type set-up called "listing", which lists all the relevant information for that office. I then display each of those fields via the Loop.
In a perfect world, a plugin would exist that would perform the above, but I've yet to find one. The closest I've come is The custom category sorting over at Digging into Wordpress.
Any suggestions on a "easy" solution that would allow me to sort "listings" with multiple attributes?
please use the wp-smart-sort plugin for that.
With the help of this plugin you can also sort the custom field
If there is any issue after the use of this plugin then let me know
thanks
Hello Friends I want to add one more editor for wordpress pages/post .Is there is any plugin or any thing .Please let me know if any one having any idea about this.I shall be very thank ful to you
Do you mean you want to use a different editor for posts/pages than the built in one? I haven't tried this one but it looks good and I've been meaning to try it:

If you are looking for multiple VISUAL/HTML editors (to control different parts of your post/page), you can either use custom fields or a plugin called PODS CMS.
If you are using custom fields, read:
codex.wordpress.org/Custom_Fields
A very popular plugin that works with custom fields is FLUTTER. I haven't used it myself, but I have used other plugins and I would probably go with Flutter because of what I have heard about it.
If you use PODS CMS, be aware that it doesn't work with plugins that require custom fields (for example, many feature slider plugins) but it's a great way to have multiple text fields on the same page. It's great for very customized content.
PODS CMS does require some php knowledge but the documentation online is very good:
mondaybynoon.com/2010/01/04/introduction-to-pods-cms-wordpress/
Personally, if I have more than one custom field per post/page, I would go with PODS, but that is just my preference.
I got the solution of above question.
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/multiple-content-blocks/
Using this you can easily add one more editor for page or posts
Thanks
