I'm having trouble while moving a Xcode project.
Since I localized the info.plist and main.xib I can't move the project into another location on my mac.
When I move the project, the files get red and building fails.
I set the path of the enclosing man.xib (not the localized) to relative to project but I can't set the location of the localized files.
When the project is moved, the path of the enclosing main.xib is right. But the paths of the localized files remain the same.
I could choose the location of the enclosing file, but since the localized files are stored in de.Iproj and en.Iproj I can't choose a main directory.
Does anybody know this issue or a solution for my problem?
Thanks

yes I just got it when I brought my project home.
bad fix for it here
Localized file paths hard coded in XCode 4 - disappear when project moved to new folder

I have recently started getting the error ResolveLibraryProjectImports: PathTooLongException on my xamarin android project within xamarin.forms. When I look up online all solutions say to relocate the project. Is there any way to change the project properties or a way to remap that can help me avoid relocating the entire project?
Update:
Due the the bounty and since the question has come up below, here is why I am looking for an alternate solution to relocating:
Directory hierarchies are there for a reason. If not everyone would have the whole bunch of folders the root. They are designed to allow us to organize everything. Same is my case. I have organized all folders based cloud, codes, frameworks etc. Of all the frameworks I have worked with, I have never had relocate a project because of an internal requirement of the project. So, I do not see a reason I need to move a project out of all these folders (which also means out of cloud) and throw them in some location apart from the rest of the projects, just because the project asks for it.
I faced the same Issue before, here is what I have found :
Windows has a Maximum Path Length Limitation. You could see it in Windows Naming Files, Paths, and Namespaces :
Maximum Path Length Limitation In the Windows API (with some exceptions discussed in the following paragraphs), the maximum length for a path is MAX_PATH, which is defined as 260 characters. A local path is structured in the following order: drive letter, colon, backslash, name components separated by backslashes, and a terminating null character. For example, the maximum path on drive D is "D:\some 256-character path string" where "" represents the invisible terminating null character for the current system codepage. (The characters < > are used here for visual clarity and cannot be part of a valid path string.) This is the reason why you have the issue.
You could shorten the directory path to your project to solve this problem, another solution is use the long path tool. But as PierceBoggan said :
the easiest way to avoid this issue is to move your source to the C:/ drive (or another location with fewer characters in the path).
Update :
The issue was fixed in Xamarin.Android 8.0.2.1, and this version is included in the Visual Studio 2017 version 15.4.2 release. You could read this document :
https://developer.xamarin.com/releases/android/xamarin.android_8/xamarin.android_8.0/#Issues_Fixed
I faced this issue too. Updating VS 2017 to 15.4.0 fixed it for me. Moving it closer to C:\ didn't change anything.
I had this problem even when moving my project to root of drive. However after updating Visual Studio to the newest version(15.7.0) the option to change archive output directory has been added to IDE:
Tools --> Options--> Android Settings : Archives Location
By setting this location to a directory as close to drive root as possible(such as D:\Archives), this error will go away.
Literally every new Xamarin Forms project that I try and build hits the MAXPATH error on the Android project the first time (because my default Projects Github folder path is already long).
I have a simple and routine fix that for me works for me 100% of the time because the culprit in my case is the intermediate or [obj] folder.
Try this: Open the .csproj file in notepad. Make sure it's the .csproj for the Android project. Under the first <PropertyGroup> tag add this element:
`<BaseIntermediateOutputPath>C:/Intermediate/Android/YourProjectName</BaseIntermediateOutputPath>`
Now just reload the project and try building again. Hope this helps!
I'm trying to publish files that are unrelated to the solution as part of a one-click publish job.
This would be relatively standard, similar to what is outlined here and here too.
However, the files themselves need to reside one folder above the actual root of the website.
If I try to specify a relative path outside of the website directory, such as <DestinationRelativePath>..\Data\%(RecursiveDir)%(Filename)%(Extension)</DestinationRelativePath> this just results in the publish skipping the item, since it claims it is up to date (in reality there isn't anything there so it can't be up to date).
I've had a quick look and can't find a way to specify an absolute path, is this something that would be possible, or is there a better approach to take here?
As part of the properties of the file you want to copy you can set it to be "Copy Always" this could resolve the issue if it is just a date issue.
I use time machine and drop box to synchronize stuffs.
Recently I found that some files are gone.
However, the project compiles just fine as if the file is there. My friend cannot compile though.
This is very frustating. I got to find the missing files and then restore it from time machine and then readd that to xcode. I don't even know what files are missing.
I used dropbox and time machine. Looks like file disappear, the file names becomes "red" in xcode for a while and then poof it's gone. Xcode automatically remove the files from the project. The project still compiles fine which is frustating. If the project doesn't compile, I will know ah this file is missing.
Looks like somehow xcode still have the file but doesn't show it. Files is not on finder either.
What could possibly be the explanation and how to fix that.
I have clean projects to make sure that my computer do not use cached files.
It still compile fines in my computer
The file is still missing in project navigator
My friends' computer that uses the EXACT same files (connected to drop box) cannot compile
For example, xcdatamodeld files are crucial. In my computer it still run fine without that file even though that file is obviously needed. Xcode behaves as if the file is there all along.
My friends' try to compile the project and crash.
Also there is a PNG file. In my computer it runs fine with the icons showing up. In my friends computer the icons doesn't show up at all.
For anyone who still have the problem, in my case Xcode6. It turns out somehow the "Show only files with source control status" and "Show recent file button" is enable. It located in the bottom of left sidebar.
This somehow happen after I update os to Yosemite.
Cheers
Go to the project navigator (top left folder symbol). Files that are not found by XCode are displayed in red. But since your project compiles fine, there should not be any that are required. Now click one of the "missing" files to activate it. Open the utility area on the right side, and show file inspector. Under "location" you find the full path of this file. Probably, your XCode project uses just references to these "missing" files that are stored somewhere else, and not in your project folder.
I had the same problem ..then I added the files explicitly into our project…which resulted into Duplicate Symbols error …we solved that by following….
In Your Project go to targets-
At the bottom Bar of your Targets there are three options..
1.Add Target
2. Validate Settings
3. Build RUle..
Click on validate Settings….it will ask for you to remove the Duplicated files from the project do it…ur project would run fine
I'm trying to create a Qt app with a webview. I started out with a very simple UI with nothing more than a QWebview. When trying ui->webview->SetUrl("http://google.com"); the application crashes on something with openssl.

I continues trying the examples. Domtraversal is one of the easier applications so i tried to build and run this. It works.
Changed the url to "https://gmail.com" which also works (so no ssl issues there).
When i run the debug or release .exe it works normally (qt's bin path is in my path var so there are no dll problems), but when i move the executable to say, my Desktop it does not run.
I've tried several different things:
when i have any tree with the same amount of folders up to "build-domtraversal-Desktop_Qt_5_0_2_MSVC2010_32bit-Debug" as the folder it is build in continues by release with the executable in it (so: c:/test/test/test/test/test/test/build-domtraversal-Desktop_Qt_5_0_2_MSVC2010_32bit-Debug/release/app.exe) it works
When i add folders inside the release folder (...-Debug/release/test/test/app.exe) it works
When i change the name of either "build-domtraversal-Desktop_Qt_5_0_2_MSVC2010_32bit-*" or release folders it does not work (exept for the end of the build folder name)
When i change the name of the app itself it works.
When i change the folder structure to D:/* it does not work
When i turn off shadow build it does not work anymore in debug mode either. Unless i move the output .exe back into a folder structure where it did work.
There must be a path somewhere in the .pro.user or somewhere else i haven't thought about. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Cause right now I'm starting to believe in magic...
At some point I must have moved files from one location to another using Finder (not Xcode). Now Xcode constantly complains that the files are missing from the original directory. In the Errors portion of Xcode, under "Project" it lists a dozen or so "Missing files" all labeled in red. How do I let Xcode know that the move was intentional and that these files aren't actually missing?
Just in case anyone else runs into this problem: My project was source controlled. Although I had never committed the project, Xcode was complaining about the non-existence of the moved files in the original directory (the directory I originally had the files in before they were moved). What frustrated the situation was that the files didn't even show up as red in the Project Navigator, Xcode would only complain about their non-existence in the Issue Navigator. To solve the problem, I had to go into my source control program (in my case, Cornerstone) and delete the files from the original directory there. The fact that the project was source controlled was the real issue.
just select the red-highlighted files in the navigator, and press delete. They will be removed instantly, not prompted for 'files or reference'.
