We have a Drupal 6 website and we want to add Advertisements to the site. I had used OpenAds 7 years ago but now since they changed to openx, i can't quite understand from their website if it's still FREE to use with all the features that were available in OpenAds many years ago.
Roaming around i found Drupal Advertisement Module which seems to report the most installs (8200 people using it approx).
The question is if some has used this module and can tell me if it supports the industry standard methods for selling ads, i.e. are we able to do the following:
Sell space using CPM (Cost Per Matrix views).
Cost Per Click (CPC)
any others ....
Can we create accounts for different advertisers and specify the budget and the ads stop automatically when their views or clicks exceed their budget?
You can learn about the differences between OpenX products here:

Recently I read news about Google bought .app, Amazon bought .buy, what does it mean? They own every domain name followed by .app? I can only register with google if I want to have blahblah.app, and they can say no even if no one is using it?
Domain/DNS works with "zones". The "top level zone" in this case being "app". Above that there is only anymore ICANN/IANA.
They can do what ever they like with the zone (according to the rules & regulations made by ICANN/IANA) - they do not have to sell domains within their zone.
Selling domains as what .COM (verisign) does is purely due to that being their business model.
Google or Amazon on the other hand might find other value in owning a TLD/Zone and might rather use it to promote/canonicalize their own projects instead of selling sub-zones.

One of the clients has asked for a website, and one of the features offered by the site will be the ability to book in and pay for the courses. The courses can be either online or face-to-face.
For the online-courses, it has been decided that Moodle will be used.
The courses will be paid for via a CRM. The same CRM will be used for other purposes as well as invoicing...
We were hoping to enable the booking process and browsing through the courses on the Drupal website, but will this become too complicated? Drupal -> CRM -> Moodle?
Also, because there are a certain number of spots for each course, the Enrolment form in Drupal needs to be able to display the number of available spots for the selected course. Any suggestions on how this can be achieved?
I answered your question related to moodle integration with drupal & in there I have mentioned a module Commerce Moodle. If you use this module then you get the drupal commerce to handle your selling of courses which will let you explore more of it. Like invoicing, inventory(no of person in your case), collecting extra information at time of buying, bulk operations on users etc..
So options are too many & it will fulfill your need for sure.

I have seen a lot of websites using download queues. Some of them make users wait for a few minutes, so they can display ads and promote a payment version of their service, but sites like Sourceforge uses a 5 second queue and even offers a direct link for the impatient.
What can Sourceforge gain from introducing this 5 second delay?
there is ads on sourceforge download pages
I think, in general it is 30% Bandwidth reduction and 70% Advertising Space
By making the user wait for only 5 seconds, the bandwidth is not affected this much.
However this fact applies better to hoster which have >30s delay.
From the advertisement point-of-view: Every second counts.
Sometimes it is enough to show a certain logo in order to make the consumer remind that one company.
Even two or three sentences can still be read completely within 5 seconds!
Imagine you'd just see a big yellow M, I bet you'd associate it with a well known fast-food company! ;)

Does anyone know how to programmatically obtain TV listings for a particular time zone? Is there a service I can subscribe to?
Thanks.
Searching for TV Listings API has a lot of promising results, but I don't think you're going to find any free ones, for better or worse.
Check your cable provider or try to scrape off their sites?
As far as I searched, the only viable solution I've found is this one :
http://services.tvrage.com/
They provide a public API that is quite complete and updated regularly, but it's not timezone dependant.
I'm afraid that what you are asking is too specific.
Maybe you should create it yourself ? ;)
You could contact the team behind Zapping.io. They have an API for the television programming with metadata (actors, plot, posters and ratings)

My task is to tweak Google Analytics to fit complex needs for statistics of our website.
Google Analytics looks quite straightforward but on the other hand it seems to have lots of advanced features and endless possibilities and I don't want to learn by trial and error. I want to approach this task professionally.
What book, website or other resource would you recommend for studying purposes.
I read the Brian Clifton book last summer, and it was pretty decent for a high level overview. Check out the associated blog too. Check out the Brian Clifton book
Amongts Clifton's book, I recommend you to take the Google Analytics Individual Qualification test for which there is a lot of related lessons in the Conversion University, and get subscribed to the official Analytics blog to keep yourself up-to-date with the new features.
