How to run Console Application from a ASP.NET Application? - asp.net

How can I run a console application (.EXE) from ASP.NET Application.
Both ASP.NET Application & Console application are on the same server and in the same directory but in different folders.
ASP.NET Application is hosted in IIS Server
How can I run the console application from my asp.net web application ?
Sorry for asking the question in an improper way, now I have updated it as per my exact need.

My first guess is that it might be a firewall issue since the remote machine is refusing the connection. If the code is running on the same server as the executable you want to run, why are you entering an IP address? Try changing the IP to 127.0.0.1 or LOCALHOST and see if you get the same error.

Application Pool Identity seemingly running as network service

I've run into an issue managing our dev IIS instance and an MVC 3 web application. The issue is that when I try to connect to the database from the IIS machine via one of our website I get the error: Login failed for user . Where is the name and domain of the server IIS is running on. The IIS server and SQL Server are on two different machines. I have read multiple questions on SO and other sites and it said to run under application pool identity, which we are doing. We have a user for the database that is tied to the application pool identity.
The site was operating as expected yesterday but after a server reboot it seems to have caused this issue. I have checked everywhere and there is not an area that would cause this to run under NETWORK SERVICE or LOCAL SERVICE. I've been banging my head on this problem all day and was hoping that there was some solution that I have missed.

How to host and deploy an ASP.NET web application on a local server

I have created a small web application with one page only. Now I want to host and deploy this application on one of our business's server so that anyone can access this small app.
Could please anyone tell me what will be the process as I don't have any previous knowledge or experience of doing this also, what changes I do need to make in my web config and the IIS configuration.
Kind Regards
Firstly: Install IIS on the server that you want to host your application on
Secondly: Setup the site in iis
Thirdly: If you have a database connection in your app check that the connection string is updated
Fourthly: Make sure that the relevant port in the firewall is not blocked

ASP.NET error log

Every time the ASP.NET application in question throws an error the Global.asax writes to an error file: logs\error.log. The ASP.NET applications works using Windows authentication.
I am able to write to the log file when debugging using Visual Studio, however it does not work when the application is deployed in the live environment. How do I find out what user account I need to give access to: logs/error.log?
The application is deployed on a Windows 2003 Server with IIS6. Microsoft.NET 3.5.
You would have to give the required permissions to the network service account. This link might be able to help you out.
Windows Server 2003 defaults to the "Network Service" account.
This can be verified by opening IIS (expand the computer if needed), expand the "Application Pools" folder, right click on the pool used by your web app, and go to the Identity tab.
FYI: Windows Server 2008 uses the IIS_IUSER instead of Network Services.
I hope that logs folder is a virtual directory setup outside the web site directory.
Otherwise every time you deploy the entire solution you will overwrite the logs folder and its content.
Microsoft has a tool for monitoring file access that can be useful for troubleshooting permission issues.
Process Monitor - http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645
You will also want to check if your application is using windows authentication & identity impersonation since that can change the identity the application is executing with when enabled.

Silverlight failing with Cross Domain Error

I have an application that is built using ASP.NET, with an embedded Silverlight Object that communicates with a WCF back end. It is set up like so:
Server 1: Hosts ASP.NET Website on IIS7
Server 2: Hosts WCF Application on IIS7
My Machine will try to access Server 1 over the internet to log in to the website. Server 1 will the authenticate the user using the WCF Web Service over our internal network on Server 2. I can do this but when it loads the silverlight object it crashes, complaining about CrossDomain/ClientAccessPolicy failure. So to be sure I put those two files on every folder in the inetpub/wwwroot on both Server 1 and 2, just to be sure. But I am still getting the same error.
When I run the application from Server 1, it can connect to the site through its local network IP and it all works, it also works when I run the ASP.NET application from Visual Studio 2010 on my own machine, with the web service references pointing to Server 2.
I am almost at my wits end, there have been so many red herrings that I have tried and none have worked. I am not even sure if it is Silverlight/WCF or the IIS configuration on each server that is breaking it.
If anyone can help me shed some light on this I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks,
Stuart.
one idea could be to use fiddler and find the request which is making crossdomainpolicy xml request. Is that failing? Check the address it is pointing to. I debugged my issue using that. It was pointing to root of the server and my crossdomainpolicy xml was in WCF project folder.
I found the issue to my problem. I was not realising that the Silverlight application was trying to access a web service that was restricted by firewalls, so I had to create another web service that would re-route through the website and to the original web service.
What a bloomin' pain!

How to access ASP.NET App Over a Network Using IP Address

My asp.net web app is hosted on this URL on my local machine:
http://localhost:45433/
I want to access the same application from a different computer on the network. I tried replacing the localhost with my IP but it did not work.
any ideas!
UPDATE 1:
Now, I am getting this error:
Login failed for user ''. The user is not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection.
If your application is hosted using Visual Studio's built in web development server then this server does not allow remote connections. It is for testing purposes only and accepts connections only from localhost. In order to access your application from remote clients you might need to deploy it to IIS.
First, add the application as a virtual in IIS, and as long as you can access the machine on the network, you can do:
http://<machine name>/<virtual>
I do that at work, where I can access my co-worker's web site.
HTH.
That looks a lot like a url used by the development web server in visual studio. That web server only responds to requests from the localhost. It won't work for other requests from other machines on your network.
You need to install IIS on your machine (must be a Pro version of Windows) and deploy to that IIS install to share your app on the network.
I don't think the built-in version of Cassini (VS debug server) allows remote connections.
However, the UltiDev version, built off of the same code base with a few enhancements, does, and is a much lighter-weight install than IIS (especially if you can't find your OS install DVD). It also integrates nicely with Visual Studio for debugging purposes.
