I'm writing a simple content type with Dexterity to manage customers, beside the usuals fields, eg name, company, phone...
I've also added a Datetime field to store when the first meeting with
customers has been held, lets call it 'firstmeeting', which I defined
in my interface ICustomers as:
firstmeeting = schema.Datetime(
title=_(u"First Meeting"),
required=False,
)
Now, I notice that when I saved a new Customer document the firstmeeting
field has been filled with the current date even if I don't set any date
in the form, which is not what I want because no meeting with the
customer has been held yet. So I'd like to know how to set a None value
for this field so nothing will be displayed.
I've been trying to use a custom class has explained by Martin Aspeli in
http://plone.org/products/dexterity/documentation/manual/developer-manual/advanced/classes
but I don't know how to check the user input and set None value if nothing
was typed in.
Thanks
Have you tried default=None?
I found out what was happening in my code.
Actually the problem was in the template view.pt where I used toLocalizedTime() function,
which was converting the None value to the current date, so I added a tal:condition to print the date value.
<span id="form-widgets-firstmeeting" class="datetime-widget datetime-field"
tal:condition="context/firstmeeting"
tal:content="python:context.toLocalizedTime(context.firstmeeting)" />

I would like to have the user enter order items on my order form as a table where they input the Qty and Prod #. I've not programmed with that type of field so a blank line would initially display for a new order. They would type a Qty and an item number in the fields and hit enter. When they hit enter from either field, what do I program to check the validity of the two fields. Plus I need the item number to be a drop down/type ahead field. Does anyone have an example of this type of thing they could send me? It would be looking at a view in the product catalog db. Also, after they enter an item to order, that "doc" should get stored/saved and a new blank line should open up.
What type of control do I need to use and should these items be stored in their own form or on the main order document? Could use some guidance here. Thanks.
The question you have is a little broad but I will make a couple suggestions if I can.
You have the main order doc. Then a repeat control with each item. Filter each item by a uniqueID that allows you to join the main doc to the child docs. Each item should be a separate document. You then need to make the items in the repeat control editable.
There is a lot of things going on here and I think you need to get started somewhere. I think the first step is to do a repeat control with response documents.Xpages, Inherited documents in view panel by using #Unique
I have the following problem.
The LogisticsPostalAddress form is displaying the StreetInKana field. (this holds special characters used in Japan". The underlying EDT extends an EDT which has 'JPN' in the CountryRegionCodes property. The company I am using has primary address with country'GBR'. My understanding is that this should mean the field would be hidden, but it is not. So far we have made very few changes to standard AX code, and nothing that would be related. So either I have set something up wrong, or these fields are meant to be displayed, which would surprise me. Any ideas?
You have to change the property CountryRegionContextField of the corresponding control to point to the field which has CountryRegionCodes value set (either on table level, or EDT level).
I guess you have to explicitly set this property because you can have different forms with the same table as data source, but restrict access only on some of them.
In a Drupal content type a need to get the output of a field partly unvisible. These are bank account details, the IBAN.
Normally the field shows 1234567. I need to get xxxx567. I need to show only the last 3 numbers/letters.
Also I need this output in field edit form.
On the display end you could change the output using a simple PHP function in the theme template by grabbing a substring of the field's last three digits and concatenating it with "xxxx" before printing.
You might also consider doing this at the formatter level by using the 'custom formatter' module perhaps?
https://drupal.org/project/custom_formatters
To do this on the edit screen is trickier. I suppose you could do a hook form alter to use PHP to change the field value, but I am afraid you will rewrite the field value when you save the node with the 'xxxx' instead of the real data.
I wonder if it would make sense to 1.) hide the actual field, 2.) create a dummy field that displays the text formatted as "xxxx567" to the user, and 3.) write some javascript that populates the hidden field with the visible field's value if it is changed. Presumably the form would still throw values if the hidden field did not meet formatting requirements.
Context: Content type Person has reference (multiple values) to a content type Work, using entity reference.
Need: To display the title of each person node which references a given work, separated by a comma.
Done: A view with a back reference, the right nodes are fetched. (Views 7.x-3.7)
Problem: Cannot display the value separated by a comma. Note: I usually do it with the "Simple separator" display type which is under "Display all values in the same row" in the MULTIPLE FIELD SETTINGS field group. However, this field group is not available in my context.
Solved
I have found the module Views Merge Rows - works very nice. If it does not support Features module for some reason, I can take some of its code code in order to use hook_views_pre_render myself.
I was able to work around this problem by using token_formatters. The basic steps (after token formatters is installed):
No relationship to referenced entity in views (not needed)
Add the entity reference field to the view
Change formatter to "tokenized text"
For 'Text to output' use a token (I'm using [node:field-name])
For 'link destination' use a token ('m using [entity:url:path] for a relative link)
Set multiple field setting as desired
You need a custom views Format here because you are talking about the whole views-row not a multiple results field. You can use the "Unformatted list" and add a comma to be added with CSS or JS.
What kind of Relationship do you use? Can you export your whole views in an external editor and provide a link?
I had a similar issue, where I was using the Entity Reference relationship of "Referencing Entity" instead of "Referenced Entity". (The reference was on the child and the View started at the parent level).
When you run a Drupal System Message on the row (dsm), it returns all the nid responses appropriately, but as different result rows instead of as a single object; however, since the NID field (like many others) has no option for display multiple results, it would only grab the first result.
I ended up having to do an Entity Query from a Views PHP field with the current row's NID as one of the Field Conditions. That seemed to do the trick, rather than trying to load a View inside of a View with views_field_view.
$query = new EntityFieldQuery();
$query->entityCondition('entity_type', 'node')
->entityCondition('bundle', '[your_content_type]')
->propertyCondition('status', 1)
->fieldCondition('[your_field_machine_name]', '[field_column_to_check]', $row->nid)
->addMetaData('account', user_load(1)); // Run the query as user 1.
$result = $query->execute();
I had a very similar problem: no "Multiple Field Settings" were available in the field configuration of a multi-value entity reference from my content type to User.
Solved it by removing the entity reference and instead using the multi-value "User ID" field of my content type directly. The "Multiple Field Settings" form area was available now and I selected "Display all values in the same row" there as you do normally. Now this would only display numeric user IDs separated by comma (not desired). But in the field configuration there was also a setting "Format:", which I set to "Label". This would display user names instead.
So I guess by creating a custom formatter you would be able to display your associated "Work" entities in a similar way.
I have to design a page for user information, for some background verification purpose, at my work. I need a set of fields for address, total count of which will be selected by user to update the form with that many fields. So, if user selects 3, form will have 3 set of address fields. Similar concept for work and education details.
Right now, I am passing the count to a handler page, which checks total count, and return it along with querystring, back to the main page. I am able to update the no. of fields, this way, but, all values are lost, once I return to the form. There are a lot of fields to even use session object for every value. Also, it resets the count of other such field set to 0. So, if I select 4 in address field, it renders four set of address fields, but fields for other details are gone.
I need to know, if it is possible to update the fields, using just one page, instead of creating a handler file to handle the redirect, so that I don't lose other data.
Sorry, for sounding a bit confusing. Will update the question, if needed.
Edit:
Similar blocks are there for education and work details. I want the update button to update the block, with that many fields, while retaining the values already entered by the user.
I have finally shifted the update code to one page. And the total count of blocks, is calculated by this way.
if request.form("addresscount") <> "" then
varaddresscount = request.form("addresscount")
else
varaddresscount = 1
end if
varaddresscount is used to loop through the html code which renders address fields. Even with this method, if I click on update button to change the total field count, every value entered by user is reset to default. Is there a way to retain the no. of fields without using session object, as there are way too many fields for which I have to store the value in session.
Why not have just a "add address" button that, whenever clicked, adds a extra set of input boxes using Javascript? That solves a lot of your problems regarding retaining the data on already filled in fields AND it makes it easier for the user.
