Plone Portlets Misalligned - css

I have a Plone site that has a portlet displaying the navigation tree. This is supposed to be on the left side of the page, with the main page display area in the center (and to the right). Instead, this portlet gets pushed to the bottom of the page, and is stretched across the entire page width (So the "Manage portlets" link spans the whole width of the page, and is at the bottom just above the footer). I cannot figure out how or why it got like this, nor where the settings are to fix this..?

Sounds like a skinning issue. What theme are you using?
In Plone 4, you might start by looking at the main_template.pt of your theme under portal_skins. Look for <tal:block replace="structure provider:plone.leftcolumn"/>
There you can see any CSS that's applied to your leftcolumn portlets.
If you're not already using Firebug, you should try it out. It's pretty helpful in figuring out why your stuff is out of whack.

Why do my background images stay fixed when I have them set to scroll?

I'm using AccessPress theme with Elementor plugin on WordPress.
I would like to have images on my page scroll with the page (as they do on a normal Website), but they are staying fixed and giving the "parallax" effect.
Example: https://youmeitea.com/faq/
Furthermore, I notice that when I load the page, the image loads in one position, but then jumps to another position. I would like to be able to use the custom offset in Elementor to position the image so that I can control which bit of image is visible behind the page title (refer to the example page).
I am unsure if these are related, but I suspect they might be. I have tried inspecting and playing with things in Chrome as well as selected every possible setting in the Elementor page builder to no avail. Searching for someone with more knowledge to give me some advice.

responsive not full width when loading single page

I am trying to make a responsive website, but I am stumbling upon a weird problem. When I am looking on the desktop page, everything is in the right position. There are no pixels left.
However, when I am loading the responsive version on my mobile, I see some pixels left (just scroll to the left or the right and you will see what I mean). The problem gets bigger when there is content like a single post or page.
The website is here: http://FavoriteFM.com.
I can provider the CSS code, but it will be a lot of lines. I am suspecting something in the content is 'sticking out'. But I am not sure of a tool that can see such problems.
Thanks,
Dennis
Today I have disabled every div by div. I figured out the problem is with the sidebar. I still had: 'left: 8px;' on. Removing it did the trick for me. So if you have this problem, check if something of your content is 'sticking' outside your wrapper. Even if you can't see it, it still can be there.

Multiple content backgrounds on a Wordpress site?

I know little to nothing about HTML or CSS (but I am trying to learn little by little).
I am currently working on my professional portfolio and I'd like to break the website up a bit better than I have it now now (that is, with horizontal lines after each section). I've designed the website so that it is a one-page style site. However, it would be nice to change the content background for different sections of my resume, the about me (which I know needs more work, I hate talking about myself lol), and the contact me parts of the site. I'm thinking something along these lines, but much simpler.
I'm currently running Wordpress 3.8.1 and using the Highwind theme. I achieved the scrolling action with the Page 2 Scroll ID plugin. What you should be aware of is that all the content on the site is on a single page and the menu buttons merely point to different locations on the page by the way of divs. See this tutorial for a better explanation.
I'm not sure you're going to be able to get this happening with the Highwind Theme, or at least without some heavy customization of it.
The way the types of sites you're talking about work is that each section of the page has a 100% wide div with a 1255px wide div (the inside div could be anything really as long as it's not 100%) the inner div is centered inside the 100% wide outer div.
Here's a very quick codepen example...

For your example, instead of the SectionOuterOne and SectionOuterTwo classes having different colors, they'd have different background images.
Hope that helps.

Tutorial for horizontal scrolling single page site

I'm having trouble finding some good resources or even an example of the kind of site I'm trying to build.
Essentially it is a one page, horizontally scrolling site with a fixed header and footer at the top and bottom. Rather than scroll using buttons or a scroll bar, clicking on the links in the nav menu would move the page across, most likely using jQuery, to the respective section.
In other words, just for clarity, the header, footer and background always remain in place and it is the main content section which moves left and right. So there would be half a dozen or so floated divs stacked in a single row.
I have that basic framework laid out, but I can't figure out how to allow the main content section to extend past the window size, allowing for all these divs to float in a line.
Here is a crude/minimalist demo of what I have: http://jsfiddle.net/U8ZYT/
I would appreciate any links to tutorials, examples of similar websites or any direct suggestions.
Try using jcarousel..its pretty easy to make it do exactly what your loking for and theyve got some pretty good examples to get you started

Wordpress Over-riding My Formatting

I've ported the Wordpress app from wordpress.org to my web site. I've changed the html and the css to conform to my existing design. I've placed the entry data in my 'main' div, which has a left margin of 19em to keep it to the right of my navigation div. This margin appears to be overridden somehow by the generated html within the 'main' div. I've patched some of the elements by adding the margin back to them, but would prefer a cleaner fix. I've looked at the page using Firebug, but I can't identify the appropriate entry. What is overriding my margin setting?
The problem page is here. Notice the Tags at the bottom.
Another page that doesn't use WordPress code doesn't have this problem. It is here.
Thanks for any help
I want to keep my acceptance rate high so I don't appear ungrateful for all the great help on this site. The answer was that the css was defined as a class and the html was using 'id='. Sometimes it helps to make sure the computer is plugged in.
