I am getting a warning when i run my application flash builder burrito.the warning is
Warning: Failed to place object at depth 1.
Does anyone have any ideas??
Thanks in advance!!!
I get this too with no indication of where it is happening - it is a continual stream of the error: Warning: Failed to place object at depth 1.
I figured out that it is related to a button movieClip from my library that had a continually cycling keyframe animation in it.
I'm not sure why it happens but if I use a button without the cycling animation, it gets rid of the warning
I ran into this issue when trying to embed a swf and use it as the source property of a s:Image control. Changing the control to the mx:Image component worked fine.
I’ve run into this problem using pdf2swf files in AIR. I seem to have found a solution, so I thought I would post it here in case anyone else has similar issues.
For the purpose of testing the robustness of my application, I am loading a single-file 500 page pdf-swf into my eReader AIR app.
The problem is that when going from page to page, I see that some of the content from a previous page remains visible. In the debugger I see a long list of warnings:
Warning: Failed to place object at depth 1
Warning: Failed to place object at depth 2
Etc.
I’ve stumbled upon the following work around. Before going to a new page, I go the following:
// _mainTimeline is the movieClip of the book
if (_mainTimeline.currentFrame != targetFrameNum) {
var chldCnt:int = _mainTimeline.numChildren;
for (var n:int = 0; n < chldCnt; n++) {
_mainTimeline.removeChildAt(0);
if (_mainTimeline.numChildren == 0) {
break;
}
}
_mainTimeline.gotoAndStop(targetFrameNum);
}
NOTE: I know that it would be shorter to code the iteration as
while (_mainTimeline.numChildren > 0) {
_mainTimeline.removeChildAt(0);
}
but I saw the program lockup when I first went to test this, so I added the extra precautionsof only running the loop numChildren times and always checking that there are still children left to remove. It is probably over-kill, but better safe than sorry.

I have a template helper that access a collection in my app., but I have turned off reactivity:
Template.homeBoxGroupsTpl.helpers({
boxes: function () {
return Boxes.find({},
{
sort: {
order: 1
},
reactive: (Session.get("homeCanvasTplReactive") || false)
}
);
}
});
After I insert a new element on my page, that in turn updates the collection, Meteor will throw an error in the browser console:

Any ideas how to debug this, or is it a Meteor issue?
Meteor's error messages are horrible in all browsers but Chrome, because Meteor expects stack traces to include the error messages, but this is only done by Chrome. I hate to say this, but you'll probably have to use Chrome when debugging a Meteor app. :(
I do not have the solution, but I too encountered the same error, and was able to solve for my case, so posting it, hoping it helps you debug the issue (although this hardly seems to be of any help). The cause was use of .length. I had a large array (name of array: data), and to make it short (decrease length of arrray), I was assigning data.length = 5, which was somehow causing the error, and meteor helper did not work as expected. Removing that line worked for me, and I accomplished shortening of array by a for loop, and storing first five elements in a different variable.
I have faced similar problem too :(
I was able to resolve it by giving unique names to Tempaltes, its corresponding Helpersobject's methods in .js file and Mongo DataBase object(s) names.
Hope it might work for you too :)
For me, I was getting this error from it saying ReactionProduct.selectedVariant() is null on one of Meteor's cycles.
I just handled the null case with:
if (ReactionProduct.selectedVariant() === null) {
return;
}
and it's working out for me.
This error suddenly occurred when Pressflow was added to our Drupal installation. It is coming from a custom module that, prior to Pressflow seemed to work fine. After the addition of Pressflow, running Drush causes this error to display on screen.
The function that is identified as the source of the error looks like this:
function user_search_location_get(&$user) {
if (count($user->user_location_pref)) { // This line is causing the error.
return $user->user_location_pref;
}
// …
}
The error message is the following:
WD php: Notice: Undefined property: stdClass::$user_location_pref in user_search_location_get()
Short answer, in your custom module, you should check if that property exists before you count it. That, or make sure the $user object has that property before you use it.
if (isset($user->user_location_pref) && count($user->user_locaion_pref) > 0) {
return $user->user_locaion_pref;
}
While it is a little more work, when you start developing with notices turned on, you will find errors in your code that otherwise would have not appeared till later, and would have been more difficult to track down.
In your previous environment or install, the PHP error reporting was probably set to not show notices. While I recommend keeping notices on and making your code work with them, you can turn them off through the Drupal 7 UI. Configuration -> Development -> Logging and Errors. Then set the value to 'Errors and Warnings' ... Otherwise, you can set your error reporting level in your php.ini to report all except notices.
Note that Drupal 6 did not force notice reporting on, while Drupal 7 does. That prompts this type of question a lot.
If this is your only notice issue though, it makes more sense to just correct your custom module.
I am trying to work with browseForOpenMultiple function inside Flex, sdk 3.5, I am trying to figure out a bug. The browseForOpenMultiple does not crash everytime, but it seems as though I can upload a file once, but when I go to upload a second file, it crashes when the browseForOpenMultiple function is called. Anyone have any ideas about possible causes?
Update:
private function browseForFiles():void
{
fileBrowser = new File();
fileBrowser.addEventListener(FileListEvent.SELECT_MULTIPLE, filesSelected);
fileBrowser.addEventListener(Event.CANCEL, fileSelectionCancelled);
fileBrowser.browseForOpenMultiple("Select Desired Media File(s)", [(mode == "Media")? MediaTypes.getFileFilter() : MediaTypes.getVideoFilter()]);
}
So the code in our array of file extensions was crashing when there were over 60 items listed in an array that gets converted into a string for the FileFilter. This may not be an Adobe limit, but I wanted to make mention that the crash is fixed, so that others who may be encountering issues with browseForOpenMultiple will know what the issue was for this problem. This is not code that I originally wrote, so I will check into it for more clues, but for the time being, too many array items being joined together into a string for FileFilter object caused the crash.
It could be how it's construct the File, without a real file reference.
Try something like this :
var fileBrowser = File.desktopDirectory
I recently had this vague error happen to me with the use of LocalConnection.
It happened every time I tried to connect and send data to another swf.
Doing an internet search came up with little results pertaining to LocalConnection and this error and the response some people had were just ridiculous.
Apparently this error pertains to image loading and fileReference also, just not in this case.
My sending code works fine, even the event.level returned as status which means the other swf got the message, however a trace in the other swf callback function did not show, telling me the callback never triggered.
Image loading error
I got nailed on this one again with loading images.
The answer has been updated to include the fix for this also.
As it turns out the fix is simple.
The connection name was too long.
I cut the name down to 30 characters and it started working immediately.
I also want to add that if there is an error in the callback function you will get this error.
IMAGE LOADING ERROR
Well this error popped up on me again, but this time when I was loading images.
// bad code
imageObj.source = partialURL1 + partialURL2 + partialURL3;
//good code
var someURL:String = partialURL1 + partialURL2 + partialURL3
imageObj.source = someURL;
It seems you can not append the URL on the same line you assign it. Looks like a debugger bug. Even with the bad code HTTPFox was showing the images where loading, but the program would crap out somewhere after the source assignment, probably on the onloaded callback. I stopped looking into the matter when I found the source assignment fixed it.
I've had this error too, and for me the errorous code was
someobject.misspelledVariable.toString();
Where someobject was sent through a earlier localConnection and misspelledVariable is of course undefined.
Changing misspelledVariable to a correct one solved my problem. Strange error though...
I have a parts application that is built on Flex 3 and I having a problem with the parts list. The parts list uses two objects:
Part
ArrayOfPart
I cache the parts list locally in a SharedObject. This has been working fine for a couple months. I added a new Boolean property to the Part class and re-imported web services (which shouldn't have affected anything) and now, I can save the ArrayOfPart SharedObject fine, but when I try to retrieve the SharedObject, I get "ArgumentError: Error #1063: Argument count mismatch on ArrayOfPart. Expected 1, got 0. AND then it DELETES my SOL file completely.
(I used RegisterClass on Part and ArrayOfPart, so they both are serializable to SharedObjects)
Here's the steps I followed to get the error:
Save the shared object:
so = SharedObject.getLocal("PartsList");
so.data.AllParts = AllParts;
so.flush();
Verify the SharedObject:
The SharedObject PartsList.sol exists where it should
I opened the SharedObject file and the ArrayOfPart data looks valid
Restart the application and it retrieves the parts list from the SharedObject. This is the line that throws the Error #1063 and causes the sol file to be deleted:
so = SharedObject.getLocal("PartsList");
It looks like the data may not be well-formed when it's saved in the SharedObject? Is this possible?
I solved my own problem.
The ArrayOfPart had a constructor with a parameter. When I removed the constructor, the error went away.
By the way, this was Flash 9.
This looks like a tough one.
I don't think it is a formation or serialization issue. Maybe something else in your code is writing to the shared object?
Is there any way you can share your source? This would help as I personally don't have enough info to diagnose what is going on w/o seeing the rest of the code :(
Also....
Is there anything else that is writing to or changing this shared object?
Are all my objects created in AS3 or are some in MXML (I have noticed that the Flex compiler does not always do a good job figuring out MXML).
What version of Flash do I have?
If its Flash 10 does the same problem occur in Flash 9?
Does this happen in all browsers and on all platforms?
Just a hunch, but, since I installed Flash Player 10, I am seeing lots of errors with Shared Objects when browsing. Could it be related to newly introduced sandbox/security restrictions?
