I have installed a springsource tools suite 2.5 and I want to move to 2.6 version, so I was looking for uninstalling the older version, but i don't find the uninstaller.
So, deleting the directory in which the older version is installed is sufficient or are there other procedures to do?
No, it's just a big directory structure, you can delete it without side effects.
For uninstall STS
open STS
Go to Help -> About Spring Tool Suite
Click on installation details
Check installed software
Click on Spring tool suite under installed software
Click Uninstall.
That's it.
Under Windows XP that is not true.
There are folders ".grails" and ".groovy" under "C:\Documents and Settings" that need to be deleted.
Something locks the installation folder that let not you fully remove it. F

I just installed Visual Studio a few days ago and for some reason I can't create anything but a class.
When I go to create a new User Control the pop up window lets me do everything except for click the "Add" Button to close the window and create the control.
If I double-click the User Control selector to create automatically, it pops up an alert box that says I need to go to the installer to get the .NET Framework target libraries. But when I go to the project's properties I see that I am already targeting .NET Core 3.1 and the only other option I have to target is .NET Core 3.0.... I assume this is because I'm in a .NET Core WPF application but I have no idea why it won't let me create a new control. It won't let me create anything except for a new class.
What is going on here? How can I work around this bug?
I've faced your problem recently. most of the templates were not installed after installation.
something you have to do is Modify your installation.
open Visual Studio Installer and click on Modify then choose the features(.Net core,Asp.net, Desktop Application and etc) in order to re-install them.
keep it in mind that, if installer encounters any problem or missing dll. installation instantly will be completed that should not happen.
keep your eyes close to your installer process and make sure all packages are installed.
a successful installation MUST not have any warning otherwise there are packages not installed.
it's better to install packages one by one NOT totally. I mean if you want the Asp.Net Core feature then try to install it at first. then try to install another feature.
Actually, I was not able to install whole features in a single installation and I don't know why. in short, don't heavy your installation.
If the problem still exists then:
1. Close all open solutions
2. Run InstallCleanup.exe
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio\Installer\resources\app\layout\InstallCleanup.exe
3. Remove all existing Visual Studio programs from Control Panel -> program features
4. Restart pc and re-install Visual Studio
5. Make sure you have connected to the network
6. Choose only one feature(Don't select all) to install + Visual Studio Editor
vs bug
Extensions don't work properly in VS 2019 and make it hang. it's may happen because the Extensions have to be updated to be compatible with vs 2019 or it's vs bug.
I've upgraded from .NET Core 2.0 to 2.1.1 (so many elements that gets highly confusing).
I built my project and now I'm getting this error:
Cannot find compilation library location for package 'Microsoft.NETCore.App'
I don't know what other information should I provide. Please guide me in providing more info on this issue.
It's such a frustrating experience. Upgrading backward compatible version in Semantic Versioning shouldn't break things. I wish they had versioned this release as .NET Core 3.0, so that we wouldn't upgrade. Any help?
Update: I created this issue on GitHub.
I did simple fix for this issue, I selected option to remove additional files at destination before publish and then it solved my issue.
Just set MvcRazorExcludeRefAssembliesFromPublish to false in your .csproj file and that should fix the issue.
You're missing the SDK. Download and install 2.1.301 (at the time of writing), and you'll be okay. FWIW, you're not forced to upgrade. If the packages upgraded automatically, you either set a wildcard on package version or you just did something like "Upgrade all" in the NuGet Package Manager GUI. If you're concerned about things upgrading without your permission, then use explicit version numbers and pick and choose each package to upgrade manually.
Clean your hosted folder and install fresh. Re-installing the SDK/runtimes did not fully correct the issue for me.
Resolved this error by:
Re/Install SDK on IIS Server (2.1.3xx)
Re/Install SDK on Dev Machine (2.1.3xx)
Re/Install Runtime on IIS Server (2.1.2)
Clean hosted folder on IIS Server (I had old cshtml/dlls)
Republish to clean folder
Also try with an empty new project (File -> New Project -> ASP.NET Core Web Site -> 2.1)
I am trying to publish my Web App in Visual Studio Professional 2013 but getting the following error
I got the same question asked over here but no useful answer.
Can anyone please help
You probably will be using older version, that was having an issue. refer detail [here]
Install the newer web deployment tool, should work.
which .net version are you using.
check web deploy version. if vs has 2 web deploy version, the vs get confuse to take which version. If it has 2 version, just uninstall vs and then instal it along with web deploy. if the Vs has one 1 web deploy version, you uninstall and install the web deploy. It will rectify your problem i hope.

Check if version 9.0.0.0 of the assembly is installed in GAC. (from the VS2013 developer command prompt) gacutil /l Microsoft.Web.Deployment. Issues like this have occurred in the past where things worked, then after installing an update (or trying to install one) then reports of missing dlls, like nuget, occur.
The usual course of action is to repair the Visual Studio installation.
There is a problem with your publish profile. Delete the pubxml file located bellow Properties folder in your project and then create a new publish profile.
I got the same problem when older project runs into the new .NET Framework, for that you have to do the following.
Right Click on your project name->select Property Pages -> Click Build from the menu-> then select Target Framework .Net framework 4.5 or your current using framework..
"Could not load file or assembly" means the required file (of that mentioned version) is not available in the assembly (nor in the registry). All you gotta to do is to ensure this same is installed properly that would allow you to proceed further. The other things to ensure is the latest framework installed on your system.
Think you have some errors happen when to install or update Visual 2013, so you can reinstall again and this error will be fixed.
Im trying to install Tools for Apache Cordova for Visual Studio. In the first step I need to choose which third party dep. to install.
But Ive already installed most of them and already developing on this machine using cordova/node commandline-tools.
Do I need to reinstall all dependencies again? or just some (if yes, which ones?)
The installer for Tools for Apache Cordova automatically detects which software are already present on the machine. Depending whether you are installing for Visual Studio 2013 or 2015, the experience may seem a little different.
After install completes, all required tools will also be configured as expected. It is best to run the installer once to ensure that there are no incompatibilities, but rest assured, it will not re-install existing compatible software.
It is good to let Tools for Apache Cordova for Visual Studio install the 3rd party software because it will install and also configure the machine. If you want to install just the missing software manually then refer the list of dependencies here under Install dependencies manually section and accordingly install the required software and configure the machine.
I have installed ASP.NET along with my Visual Studio, but when I tried to create a website from File-->New Website and put Location as http and language as C# it throws an error. I have installed IIS manager 7 in the machine but when I check in Services.msc IISadmin is not listed, but I do have a directory C:\inetpub\wwwroot\
Installing the umbrella 'IIS' is not enough. You have to go deeper into IIS in Windows Features and physically select everything that error dialog tells you to install.
You need to install those features as well.
If you're running Windows 7 Home Basic and Starter Editions, you may not get all of them as available options.
This will help: http://learn.iis.net/page.aspx/28/installing-iis-7-on-windows-vista-and-windows-7/
check from the window features if iis components are all installed.
