indicates that it is ctrl+cmd+up or down just like xcode says but mine seems to be revealing in finder even though the shortcut says otherwise.
Anyone else having this issue? How do you fix it.
Instead of using key combinations I like to use gestures for most of these kinds of actions in Xcode. For this one simply slide 3 fingers up or down and wait a moment. It will switch between the header and implementation file. I find it works very well on a Macbook Pro trackpad or my Magic Trackpad which has the enough space for these gestures. If you have a Magic Mouse you may not have enough space for this and other gestures.
I think you will find it easier to remember this gesture over the key combinations.

I'm trying to enhance the gTile extension by allowing it to resize a fullscreen window to a tiled area of the screen. That's a pretty common thing to do when tiling and it's pretty handy since some windows will hide some chrome when in fullscreen mode. But I'm having the hardest time figuring out how to do that.
Searching the internet led me to this forum post which mentions EWMH and _NET_WM_FULLSCREEN. I've tried to find ways to access window manager hints but can't find anything bashing by head on Looking Glass or scanning through the docs. Is this kind of thing possible through a shell extension?
Meta.Window is likely what you are looking for:
https://gjs-docs.gnome.org/meta4~4_api/
Setting Window.decorated = false may be able to remove the title bar or perhaps getting the compositor object and changing it from there. However this will still keep the address and tab bars in chrome. You may need to find another method to signal chrome to hide those.
There is not really an easy way to do this, the thread you linked is in regards to VLC and modifying it's source code.
I just bought a Sharkoon Drakonia (just for information). It has 11 buttons, but only two of them (except left, right and middle button of course) can be used as 4th and 5th mouse button (eg. in games), the other ones can only be modified to behave like a double click etc. via the configurator software shipped with the mouse. So I wondered if there is a way to completely change or remap (some of) the mouse buttons to be recognized in games as for example "Mouse 6" and "Mouse 7". I think I have to write a driver for it, am I right? Is there another way to achieve my aim?
Thank you in advance!
You don't necessarily have to write a new driver - you can use some input remapping software like GlovePie (google for it). It has its own scripting language to program how input works. Most people use it to make console controllers behave like a mouse, keyboard or combination of both... But I've used it to make things kinda like what you want.
There are other software like GlovePie that can also do the job, but it's the only one whose name I can remember right now.
edit: I've just read your question more carefully. You may not be able to make a software see a mouse6 or mouse7, but you can bind some action in a game to a key in the keyboard, and then map your extra mouse buttons to be seen as if they are those keys. It works just fine.
I am attempting to record an app demo on the simulator, and want to use the Quicktime screen capture feature. However, I would like to hide the mouse during the capture.
Is this possible?
Doesn't seem to be a built in feature, so I am assuming I need to use some sort of plugin or hack.
Any suggestions?
QuickTime itself does not seem to offer this functionality therefore you have to resort to some other means to hide the cursor. On OSX there are some tools that allow this.
Cursourcerer is the first that springs to mind. However, as this really hides the cursor, it might not be ideal as you yourself will not be able to see what you are doing.
However, if you do not need to use QuickTime per se, it seems there are commercial screen recording solutions allowing this sort of thing such as Screenflow. I am not affiliated but the price seems reasonable and there is a demonstration of desired behavior here.
You don't record your app in your computer, but directly on your iPad or iPhone, connected to your Mac with a lightning cable. Then in Quicktime you select the "New movie recording" option (instead of "New screen recording"), then you will be able to select your iPad/iPhone as the "camera" and start recording your app running in your iOS device without any mouse pointer.

OBS can record your app window, and it ignores the cursor on the window.
Useful even if you are not a youtuber.

I use option+command+k (⌥+⌘+k) to show / hide. It works globally.
It's also useful to hide the mouse cursor when you do the control-scroll zoom trick to focus in on a video.
I haven't found anyone who's stated a problem similar to this, but then again maybe it's because I don't know the right term for the graphical glitch I'm having. This program worked and displayed just fine a week ago, but now it doesn't. I (or rather, "we," since it's a school project) haven't made any changes to it since then. It's made with QT, and running on CentOS. Here's a screenshot:
Screenshot of QT glitch
Whatever is behind the window shows in the background, and whatever happens in the window gets frozen on screen. For example, if a word is supposed to flash on the screen and then disappear and be replaced by another word, the first word does not disappear. Instead, the second word just appears on top of it.
Anyone able to point me in the right direction as to what could be doing this? I could post a code snippet, if I knew what part to post a snippet of. :S
Is the UI just one giant QGraphicsScene object? If so then it could well be an OpenGL driver issue. If not, then I'm going to guess that it's the underlying Qt painting system that has become corrupted, and just reinstalling Qt should do it.
My problem is that when ever the iPhone has to push a view (like the keyboard) it takes a really long time (15+ seconds).
I never used to have this problem with the simulator, but after I updated xcode to 3.2.3, the simulator is almost un-usable for anything which requires a keyboard.
For example, on the simulator the springboard app (the one which stores your icons and has the search pane to the far left). When I scroll all the way over to the search, the keyboard pops up immediately but it takes a very long time for it to register any taps and the entire simulator becomes unresponsive.
This happens with any app.
Also, sometimes it can take a very long time for the keyboard to even show.
I'd really appreciate any thoughts!
In my case this was being caused by the NSZombieEnabled flag. Try disabling that if you have it set and the MKMapView may come "back to life".
EDIT: Unfortunately my problem just came back, so the above did not solve this problem. Sorry!
Finally solved this over here. In my case it was caused by a bad stick of RAM. OWC has a good article about checking for bad RAM DIMMs over here: http://eshop.macsales.com/Search/displayFAQDetails.cfm?ID=355 - maybe worth a shot. I re-seated my 2 risers in my Mac Pro, and the simulator is buttery smooth again!
Remember that using shiftkey you can toggle simulator animations slower or faster
pushing down shift for about 2 to 3 seconds toggle simulator to slow/fast animation
