when i click to the info Button next to the Filename in a Workspace there is shown a Preview of the PDF File, but i can't find this Preview in the Database or in the Filesystem, anybody know where it will be generated?
Regards
Rene
The flash preview of the PDF stored as a rendition of the actual document. It is stored as cm:thumbnail object as a child (rendition child association) of the PDF document and has the thumbnail name (i.e. thumbnails type) "webpreview".
Use the Alfresco Node Browser, find your PDF document and check it's child associations. You should find the webpreview there. From it's contentUrl you can even find the file in the content store (i.e. on you harddisk).
A preview should be an instance of a rendition in Alfresco. Nodes in Alfresco can have more than 1 rendition (e.g. different quality thumbnails). Renditions of nodes in Alfresco are themselves stored as nodes again, so you should be able to find them using the node browser in the admin panel.
If you navigate to the object using the Node Browser and look at its children, assuming you have already viewed the document in a document library list in Share and have opened the details page to see the preview, you'll see two children listed. One is named "doclib" and the other is named "preview". If you navigate to the doclib child, you will see that it is a PNG. That's the thumbnail shown in the document library list. If you navigate to the "preview" child, you'll see that its mimetype is Flash. That's the flash preview.
If you do not see the flash preview object it is possible that your pdf2swf binary isn't installed correctly or you haven't pointed to it properly in your alfresco-global.properties file.

I have a problem with references to an image not updating in pages that are using that image.
This is the steps that the users are reporting
go to /siteadmin#/content/dam/
on the "new" dropdown menu, select "new file"
select an image file that is a different image but has the same name as a file that already exists
upload the file and when asked that a file already exists, choose replace
activate the file when the upload completes
The problem is that when I check pub I can see the image is updated, and if I navigate to the path of the image, for example:
pub1.mypub:4503/content/dam//my-image.png
I can see the new image I replaced the old one with
the problem is that pages that were referencing the image, specifically the image component, still shows the old image. I've check flush rules, checked workflows and nothing seems to work
The one thing I noticed is that in pages that are referencing the image the path is like this
/content//_jcr_content/my-component/my-component-parsys/columns/parsyscenter/image.img.jpg/1538602163986.jpg
so it seems the path it is using is like a generated path and not the same path as this one: pub1.mypub:4503/content/dam//my-image.png
im at a complete loss, I honestly do not know what else to check, has anyone ran into this and figured out how to fix it?
this is on aem 6.3
the problem is that in pubs the image being referenced in the component does not update, and since it does not update in pub, it never updates dispatcher
You can try activating the referenced pages after the image has been published. Since the page on publish has reference to the previous image.
Can anyone please help me. Am using adobe captivate 9. I have a content with image that exceeds the slide spacing, i want to set this content within the page using scroll. I have tried using text-scroll widget but i cant add images to it.
Put the image into an MS Word document and save it as an HTML web page. The result will be an HTML file and folder named "[file name]_files" in whichever folder you saved it to.
Select both the HTML file and the folder, right click, and choose Send to -> Compressed (zipped) folder in the context menu.
Dragging that ZIP folder directly onto your Captivate slide will create scrolling HTML Web Object based on the formatting of the MS Word file. It will show up in your Library in the "Web" folder.
Unfortunately, this is a feature that is missing from Captivate. The best solution I've found is to make an html file that includes the text and points to the image, then zip and import as an HTML5 Animation.
The requirement is sent a Word document from browser, and automatically open it on MS Word so that then can view and edit the Word document.
The only solution I can found require the end user to click a dialogue Window in order to open a Word document in Office when the document is download from browser.
Is this the only way, that the user has to click a dialogue Window before Office can open the downloaded Word document?
It kinds of make sense for security reason to not let browser automatically execute an local application (Word.exe) on the local machine, but I still want to confirm that.
If the answer is yes, then I would like to know how to do that?
Edit: I just found out that you have to use inline instead of Attachement, otherwise it will always ask for the option event the browsers are setup properly.
Response.AddHeader("Content-Disposition", "inline;filename=clientquotes.docx");
After made that change, browser will auto open the Word document without asking for action.
If I understand correctly, you want to change the behaviour of your browser to automatically open downloaded files. As far I'm aware its pretty painless process when it comes to Firefox and Google Chrome, however on IE it's not as simple.
Firefox
Changing download actions
This will not affect media embedded in a web page - only links to the files themselves.
Click the menu button Menu and choose Options
Select the Applications panel.
The Applications panel will display. Select the type of file for which you want to change the default action.
The Action column will give you a drop-down menu, with options on action to take, whenever you click that type of file.
Alwaysask: will prompt you to select what action you want Firefox to take when you click on that type of file. This can be useful if Firefox is automatically saving a file type or is always opening it with a certain program and you want to be asked what to do.
Save File: will always save the file to your computer using the Downloads window, whenever you click that type of file.
Open the file with an application or plugin of your choosing.
Click Ok to close the options window after making changes
Adding download actions
On the web, find a link to a file matching the type you want to add.
Click on the file link to download it.
Select how you want Firefox to handle the file:
Open with: Saves the file to a temporary folder and opens it in the default application for that file type. To select an application, click Browse....
Do not choose Firefox to always open a certain file type, as doing so can cause
a problem where Firefox repeatedly opens empty tabs or windows after you click on a link.
Save file: Saves the file to the download folder (specified in the Firefox General panel).
In the Opening file window, check mark Do this automatically for files like this from now on.
Click Ok.
Is Do this automatically for files like this from now on disabled?
This can happen if the website's server incorrectly specifies the
Internet Media type of the file. It also can happen if the server assigns
"Content-Disposition: attachment" to the file.
Reference
Google Chrome
If you want certain types of file always to open after they've finished downloading, click the arrow next to the file button in the downloads bar and select Always open files of this type.
Reference
IE
From what I can gather for IE you will have to change the registry keys. You can refer to this link for further information.
I hope this answers your question.
I've built a content type to handle document upload. My content type uses a Book node to handle directories/subdirectories and I would like to show a couple of Views that shows the directories structure. When clicking on a directory I would like to show, in another view, all the documents inserted in that directory.
Do you know any existing examples of Views/Panels? That shows a similar structure, as in the Windows Explorer, using Views2?
You can use this module: views_tree
Also tree-like can be built via argument handlers...
I use the Remote File module for a cck field displaying a remote image. It works with a known issue: images are reloaded on every edit http://drupal.org/node/395256
And as i do tests with lots of nodes and delete them afterwards, the images cached in filesystem become deleted too. Is there a way to tell filefield(?) not to delete them?
edit
Meanwhile found http://drupal.org/project/filefield_sources which works very nice on manually created or edited nodes. But there is no way to make filefield fetch the image on assigning the url to the place where it shows up when i let print_r($node) show it to me.
See also my post to this (wont-fix)issue http://drupal.org/node/590756#comment-2774472
Yes, there is.
You'd need to create an interface between your node and the file so when you delete the node, the file stays in place. Effectively, you're just deleting the association, not the file.
Perhaps this module saves to the files table and the reference to the file exists already.
You could develop a third party module that stores all your external files and has a GUI or some other interface to select them again for new nodes
Or, you could create a specific content type and save the files as separate nodes. Then you'd use node reference to join them.
Alternatively, the developer of that module says he'll add features if you pay him. However he does not guarantee it from what I can see :)
