Scaling an iframe with webkitTransform in Safari creates white border - css

I have a simple html page in an iframe that I am trying to scale with an html5 input range slider. it creates a white border inside the iframe, what looks to be a doubling side effect.
It works perfect in chrome(6.0.472.59 mac), but not in safari (5.0.1 mac).

Any sort of suggestion on why this may be happening? hardcore hacks are fine if need be.

This appears to be a Safari bug. I would recommend reporting it at https://bugs.webkit.org/

I'm seeing this bug in Chrome as well (version 11.x.x)
One solution is to go into the IFRAME's document (assuming you have access) and set the size there. Something like this:
$('iframe').contents().find('body').css('-webkit-transform', 'scale(0.5)');

Chrome and Firefox Browser Default Zoom

I have a problem with this page. I developed it in Firefox on it's default zoom level. The idiot that I am, I haven't tested it on Chrome. So, now I see that the page's layout and/or font size is different on Chrome and other Webkit based browsers. Default Chrome zoom level is 75% so everything is smaller on Chrome. I have to say that I've made a dozen of web apps but have concentrated on the backend side of the application and never put many thoughts in how the page looks like on different browsers.
I mean, I have if javascript cross browser stuff had to be addressed but this is something that I never came across.
What I think is wrong with this is font size. I have a #main-wrap that wraps the entire app and has a base font size of 16px. So, #navigation a has 0.7em because that way it looks normal in Firefox, but looks really small in Chrome.
Could anyone post some tips or hints as to way this is happening?

I've fixed the problem with
zoom: 1.29;
-moz-transform: scale(1);
-moz-transform-origin: 0 0;
And it works but, as I know, it's a good to do this like this. Is there a CSS technique do make pages look the same across browsers?

Here is your Answers......
For Firefox :
open up a new tab, and type about:config into the address bar, and
press enter.
Then use the search box, enter the word "pixel" then it will show
"layout.css.devPixelsPerPx".
change the value -1.0 to 1 for 100% perfect scale...
For Chrome:
Right Click the chrome icon or chrome shortcut icon, go to the
properties.
Then in the "Target:" field, Click the field and press end button.
Now you are seen this "chrome.exe" at the end.
copy this text : chrome.exe" /high-dpi-support=1
/force-device-scale-factor=1
and paste on chrome.exe"
Then Restart chrome or close the browser and double click the
shortcut icon.
The reason for the difference is because Firefox uses the system zoomlevel. Which is set at 125% by default on Windows. Whereas Chrome uses a default level of 100%.
I would advise to design for Chrome, because then the text will always be readable.

Safari showing my div in wrong position

It works nicely while offline but not while the page is online. Could it have to do something with the Google Maps embed?
If you need the code, tell me. Otherwise you can just use Google Chromes Developer Tool to look into it I guess.
I think this is width problem, because I have updated the width for the div id='textbox' and it's gone down, try to give a little width just to make sure that is compatible for all the browsers.
This will fix this problem. Try it!

Positioning of divs off in Firefox/Camino?

So, I have written out a site in HTML and CSS, and all looked fine and dandy in Safari, Chrome, OmniWeb... even Opera. Then I tested in Firefox and Camino (which I believe uses the same rendering engine as Firefox) and was unpleasantly surprised: some of the positioning of my divs was off - noticeably off - by at least 5 pixels. While that might not seem like a whole lot, I use divs to put borders around things that I would otherwise have difficulty with putting borders around (jquery image gallery, for example), so 5 pixels matters quite a bit.
My question is this - what other quirks does Firefox's rendering engine put in, and how can I get around them? Are there special properties I need to add to my CSS in order to make it behave the same for Firefox/Camino?

You should look into using a css reset, this will give you a blank slate and will for the most part normalize how browsers render the box model.

CSS3 - Embedded font disappears in chrome when rotated?

I've been playing with CSS3 transforms- rotations- and embedded fonts.
Some fonts completely disappear in Chrome when I apply a rotation.
Does anyone know why chrome blows this up?
What makes a font susceptible to this behavior?

IE8's rendering of transparent pngs is FUBARed on my site

I just downloaded the IE8 full release so I could test a site I just created.

Focus on the left sidebar background image. It is suppose to be a 1x1 semi-transparent .png image that repeats. IE8 renders it as a gradient!!! It get's even wonkier when you try to scroll your window or mouse-over the sidebar.
I had already tested this site in the normal browsers (IE7, Firefox, and Chrome). It looks exactly as I designed it in these. IE8 is FUBARed though. I tried to set IE8 to "IE7" mode but it still looks crappy. IE 8 in IE7 mode obviously isn't rendering the same way as the real IE7. Not even the "IE7 meta tag" works.
Has anyone else had problems like this? I thought IE8 was supposed to be a an improvement, not a step backwards.
P.S. Please excuse the crappy markup on this page. I used IE's "save entire page" feature.
It may be a rendering error in IE8, or perhaps it's some function to smooth the edges of repeated images that gives you an unexpected result. Either way it's not very surprising that you get problems using such a small image. Do you realize that the browser has to draw the image 190152 times to render the page?
I am using a 10x10 semi transparent png as background for a div in a page, and it renders just fine in IE8.
I fixed the bug and it isn't the gamma issue that is mentioned in that other post. My issue was being caused by the fact that the image is 1x1 pixel in size. I just changed it to 1x2 and it fixed the problem. Weird

I had a similar issue with a site I'm building. The issue only occurred on 50% of the machines with ie8 it was tested on, I was building it for an IT firm so had access to lots of computers. We were able to "fix" the problem by toggling Hardware Acceleration on the problem machines, not that thats really a fix at all.

I was also experiencing the issue on 50% of the computers running IE8 (had access to quite a few machines). When I had a 1x1px semi-transparent png set as a background image on a div with CSS, IE would render this as a funky vertical, transparent gradient.
Changing the source image to a 5x5px png of the same opacity fixed the bug... go IE!
The problem was my original png was
1×1, and for whatever reason IE8 was
not liking trying to tile that and
handle the alpha transparency at the
same time. When I accidentally saved
that image with a much larger copy I
had on my clipboard, 100×100, it ended
up fixing whatever problem Internet
Explorer was having with processing
the png’s transparency.
