WebDav alternatives? Win server 2003, win 7 - webdav

I have an internal web page that I have an iframe with the source pointing to a webdav folder. This allows the user to drag and drop a number of files on the iframe window which a button on the main page then kicks off a server side task to process the files.
I am looking for an alternative that will allow me to drag a group of files and drop them onto a target area of a web page which will then upload them to the web server.
Ideally this would be in ASP.Net 2,3 or 4.
Any suggestions?
TIA
J

I ended up using multi file upload Silverlight component. It works like a charm and I believe it is available on codeplex.

Hosting a Web Application on a local server

I have an application developed in asp.net. I'm trying to host it on a server so that my manager can access it from a different location. Since I'm not aware of how to process this, any help would be highly appreciated.
If you're using web server IIS In the first step you need to :
Start menu write >> inetmgr
going to control panel and click administrative tools > IIS
Open IIS ->SItes --> Add web site and enetr the site name click OK
you may click on the Advance Settings. from the right panel and modify some settings that you want to modify. In general it is not needed and you can keep it default.
Now, your website is ready to be browsed, you can right click on the website name (SampleWebSite in my case) and go to Manage Web Site > Browse and you should have an Internet Explorer window open displaying the default page of your website or web application. I suggest you to hosted with asphostportal.com because they are cheap and their support will help you.

I can't find options for Select Master Page or Place code in separate file in VS2012

I installed VS 2012 on my work PC, and for the life of me when I go to add a new web form, I cannot see or find the 2 options for Select Master Page or Place code in separate file.
Any ideas on how i can find them?
I've just been fooled by just that for the past hour. What I've found is that the 'old' method of using the menu option 'Add web page using master' (or similar) has vanished, and been replaced by 'Content Page'. When you select this, you're then given the option of choosing a master page.
Incidentally, I don't get the option of starting a web site project, which may be why I'm not seeing this either.
You should have web form with master page in the add items?
Placing code in separate file is a different concept called code-behind. You will have an ASPX file and a cs / vb file which handles the events.
e.g.
Default.aspx
Default.aspx.cs
EDIT: Based on comment.
You may be using a Web Site on your laptop, but a Web Application in work. See Web Application Projects v's Web Site Projects.
Take a look at ASP.NET Web Site or ASP.NET Web Application?, this might also help in deciding which to use. Generally, I always go for Web Application.
You can use VS to convert from a Web Site to a Web Application, but AFAIK, you can't do it the other way round unless you create a new project and copy across the relevant parts - which could be a big job depending on the size of the site.

IIS 7 Windows Server 2008 / CSS file not loading within aspx

I've found out several topics related to this issue yet I couldn't find an answer which worked for my problem, which is following:
I moved my Asp.Net 4.0 site to a new server (IIS 7, Windows Server 2008). The server side is working fine but the CSS style sheet is not loading.
When I use firebug, I see the following on the part where css should be loaded
404 - File or directory not found.
The resource you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.
Despite this message,I can display the content of the css (in text) on the web (such as ../Styles/button.css ..etc)
I have tried some solutions such as staticFile handler mapping on IIS or adding ASP roles on server manager (through control panel).
Any help would be appreciated
Kind regards
The articles/topics that you have found is talking about the same thing as Uali's answer, which is correct, but it doesn't always solve everyone's problem. The problem is also not about your css per se.
Before proceeding, make sure that you have enabled Static Content as the other answer instructed.
Then do these steps in the IIS Manager window with your virtual directory selected.
Open Handler Mappings.
Click Add Managed Handler in the Actions Panel located in the right.
In the request path field, type: *.css
In the type textbox, enter: System.Web.StaticFileHandler
In the name textbox, type in any descriptive name you want such as css fix.
Click OK.
Update:
I also forgot to say that you can do the same thing for .jpg, .png, .gif or any other file types if necessary.
Please Make sure Your IIS 'Static Content' is enabled.
Do to This follow these steps:
Open Control Panel
Click Programs
Click Turn windows features on or off in Programs and Features.
Open Internet Information services -> World Wide Web Service ->Common HTTP Features
Make sure Static Content is checked, Mark checked if it
is not.
Hopefully it will help you.
The process of enabling Static Content on Windows 7 is different from that on Windows Server 2008.
To install the Static Content feature on Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2, follow these steps:
a. Open Server Manager, and then expand Roles.
b. Right-click Web Server (IIS), and then click Add Role Services.
c. Under Web Server, click to select the "Static Content" check box.
d. Click Next to complete the installation.
Here is the complete step by step guide for both situation for reference.

How to configure the web page of a web application to be browsed maximized?

I have developed a web project using PowerBuilder V12.0 and it is published in ASP.net web file formats (*.aspx).
I have hosted my web project on a web server machine with operating system (Windows Server 2003 - Enterprise Edition) and IIS V6.0 as Web Server Hosting Application.
I would like to make the home page (Default.aspx) opened maximized so that no internet toolbars appears in the Internet Explorere or any other internet browser like Firefox and so on.
It seems this is a web server configuration and setting as now I host the same web application in two development web servers and it opens maximized in one of them and opens normal in the other so No changes are needed in the web project files.
I do not know exactly what is this option or configuration,, Is there a property like window size or width and height in web configuration files like web.config and machine.config ? I guess there is a property like WindowSize:Maximized.
If you had experience with that before please let me know the options and configurations needed to do that.
Thanks for your help.
You can use JavaScript to resize the browser window but I think it's generally bad form and not always supported. Some browsers won't do it at all, some will block it, etc.
Pretty sure you can't control any other aspects of window display, such as toolbar visibility, etc. Well - you can when opening new browser windows but you can't enforce this on the first load of the page.
http://www.w3schools.com/jsref/met_win_resizeto.asp
Tried it in Chrome, no worky, tried it in IE, you get "IE has restricted this webpage from running scripts..."
I can see why you would want to enforce how your web app is displayed but that's something that's really left to the client.

VS 2008 Opens Default Browser instead of IE for SilverLight Application

My default browser is Chrome.
When I run my web applications within VS 2008 IDE, it uses chrome.
I want to use IE for this. Is there an option in VS 2008 to make IE the browser to load the web applications?
I just want this when using VS 2008 - I don't want to change my default browser each time otherwise.
EDIT: when creating a silverlight application.
Right click on .aspx file in your solution tree, and click Browse With...
then specify your default browser.
See this question: How do you change Visual Studio's default web browser?
But basically, create an html file inside your silverlight project, right click on it, select browse with... set the default browser. Now you can erase the html if you want to. The next time you debug your project, it will open with the browser you specified for the html file.
You could create a post-build event that runs FireFox.exe, pointing to the url of your website. You can edit post-build events by right-clicking on your Web Application, going to Compile, and clicking the Build Events button. Your post-build command could be something like "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" http://localhost/mysite for example.
It sounds like you only have a Silverlight project in your solution. You need to add a web site like ASP.NET to your solution to use Browse With and post-build commands.
