I have to add generate pdf links in the view how to that...
When the user clicks on the generate pdf links pdf should be generated which contains the content information of that node...
I think what you need is to install the print module and enable the printing. You'll then notice a link structure for Print. I think its different in 5.x than it is in 6.x but basically you'll end up with a link like http://example.com/print/pdf/530 (or similar) to print node 530. So for your Views 2.x you can add a field that outputs a link, which you can then use print/pdf/[nid]. To get nid, I believe you'll need to add a "relationship" to the View which stores the nid.
Place this code in header or footer of views as php code:
<?php
print print_pdf_insert_link();
?>
You may forget VBO and add the NID field and make it a link to printpdf/[Nid] (target _blank).
You can even replace the output by the PDF icon, using an img html tag, like this:
<img src="/modules/acquia/print/icons/pdf_icon.gif">
or any other path to a PDF mimetype icon.
I know we're 2 years later but the Views PDF module is perfect for this. Some details about it (from its project page):
With this module you can output a view as a PDF document. Each field of the view can be placed on the PDF page directly in the administration interface. Therefore a new display called "PDF" is added.
If you use "Row Style: Node" in your view and you have the pdf option of the print module on then the pdf link will appear in your view. If the default Node view doesn't work for you, you can tweak it using the Content Template module (http://drupal.org/project/contemplate).
Beyond that I think it would take a custom module.
To create a printable PDF from a node, I would check out the Print module. Some details about it (from its project page):
This module allows you to generate the following printer-friendly versions of any node:
Printer-friendly version (webpage format) (at www.example.com/print/nid)
PDF version (at www.example.com/printpdf/nid)
EPUB version (at www.example.com/printepub/nid)
Send by email (at www.example.com/printmail/nid)
where nid is the node id of content to render.

Currently, I have a dynamically created custom pie chart located at mywebsite.com/customchart that is created through a module I made using Highcharts.
I have view, that is listed in the views module shown in mywebsite.com/admin/structure/views/view/ which I would like to embed the custom chart into but I cannot find it through Add Header>Global: View area.
How exactly would one be able to achieve this? Programatically? How?
You can do it programmatically.
First you have to find out what template file is used for rendering the header. Easiest way: go editing your view, select proper display and then unfold "Advanced" options block on the right column and click "Theme: information". Here you can see what templates files are used (assuming you are using Drupal 7). The used ones are in bold. You can collect actual template code there so you don't have to find template file at all if you want to override it. And you can see file naming suggestions, so there you have everything you need to override template file.
If your theme is not overriding standard templates then you should do that - it's not good idea to change directly templates provided by Views module.
So, the first part would be finding out where would you like to embed the view, at what template and at what position. Second part is using function views_embed_view() for doing that:
https://api.drupal.org/api/views/views.module/function/views_embed_view/7.x-3.x
As you can see there, first parameter is machine name of the view, second of display and then you can pass parameters if your view accepts them. So call that function from proper place and you'll have your view embedded.
Also, there is display type "embed" which you can use for embedding views like this. It will provide those "edit view" links when you hover your view content while logged in as admin...
I'm new to drupal and reading through docs, but hoping to get an explanation for something.
I have a page called page--type-home-page.tpl.php.
Part of this page prints render($page['content'])). I want to remove something that is rendered as part of the page content from the page, but don't understand where this comes from and where/how to look.
Thanks!
Assuming you're talking about Drupal-7
Well the $page['content'] contains a string, which is a rendered version of what's injected into the content region of your theme.
By default, the only block in this region is the "Main page content" block that is generated by the Drupal core. Many things can generate this content but it always pass through the menu API. For instance, if you're viewing a node, the URL used is: node/12. The node module declares a menu entry for node/%node, this menu entry contains a callback function that will render whatever the module wants to render. The module, then, may use different strategy to render it's content from a simple function to a complex imbrication of templates.
The key to alter what's in the box, sorry, what's in the $page['content'], is to know what is rendered and to understand how it's rendered.
If it's a node, first you want to look if you can achieve your goal through the display settings of the content type. admin/structure/types/manage/page/display: And this is true for all entities (users, comments, taxonomy term etc.) Because this is the first thing the module of these entities will put together when they'll try to render your content.
If this is not enough to achieve your goal, you can look into the module that renders the path to see if it hasn't a .tpl.php. You'll be able to re-use it in your theme. You'll want to copy/paste the file in your theme and edit it.
If the module do not have a tpl file to override, try a template suggestion: here's a list from Drupal.org
Ex: node--type.tpl.php
If all this doesn't satisfy your need, you'll have to dig into preprocess functions; Those functions allow you to modify what's in the variables passed to .tpl.php files. That's a little more advanced and I recommend you to read this previous stackoverflow question/answer
Simply, don't use that $page['content'] which prints all content, but place your custom template code instead and print separate field values where you need them like:
<?php print render($content['your_field_name']); ?>
https://drupal.stackexchange.com/questions/30063/how-to-print-fields-in-node-tpl-php
If you want to do just simple styling, like excluding some field you can use content type display options like mgadrat explained, but if you want to use some complex styling, with totally custom html this solution is easier.
We're creating a database of files on a new Plone 4.3.2 website, using eea.facetednav as the main interface. In order to have multiple searchable "tags" plus additional information like publish year, article type, etc etc, we've created custom Dexterity content types for these "files". One of the fields on the Dexterity content type is to upload the actual file.
Everything was going swimmingly UNTIL I realized...
One of the basic functionalities of linking to "files" is now broken. Whereas we would expect creating an internal link to a file will prompt opening the file or downloading it when clicked, now it just takes you to the "view" for the new Dexterity content type, where there's a link to the actual file.
This is pretty cumbersome. Has anyone done this before, or found a way to have it automatically link to download the file? If we need to disable/scrap the Dexterity content type view in favor of the direct link, that's probably fine, but bonus points if you can think of a way to make this work both ways (i.e. have a linking method that takes it to the file and a linking method that takes it to the view).
This is the page I mean by "view", in case it's unclear:
... Off the top of my head, I can think of a weird Diazo solution of making a custom template that parses this view and automatically redirects to the file link, but that seems wrong/weird. Other thoughts?
I'll go for the bonus points, though I haven't fully tested this...
First, you have to designate your file field as the content type's "primary" field. Unfortunately this option doesn't show up in the UI so you have to edit the XML version of the schema (there's a button for this in recent versions of the dexterity control panel). Add xmlns:marshal="http://namespaces.plone.org/supermodel/marshal" as a namespace at the top, and add marshal:primary="true" to the field tag in question.
Then, find your type in portal_types and change the "Default view method" to ##download. (It usually starts out as view for Dexterity content types.) This should make the item's URL download the file rather than showing the normal view. It knows which field to use because you designated it as primary.
You can still access the normal view by adding /view to the end of the item's URL. If you want Plone to do this when linking to the type from navigation and folder contents (just like it does for built-in images and files), go to portal_properties/site_properties and add the type's id to the typesUseViewActionInListings list.
If I had to solve this problem, I'd take the "link" content type view in plone.app.contenttypes as a model.
When someone asks to see a link content type object, the view looks to see if the requestor has the Modify portal content permission on the link object. If they do, they see the conventional view, giving them the opportunity to edit. If they don't, the view returns a redirect to the target URL.
Your code would be simpler. After checking the permission, you'd only need to append ##download/field_name to get the redirect URL.
I've been making a template for a particular content type, but just ran into a problem: I need to embed a view into the content type.
I am aware this can be done via several different methods, but I don't see one that fits exactly my needs:
I need the view added automatically for all pages of that content type.
Using blocks in a region is not an option, as I want to avoid defining a region in the middle of a page that should only be available for a specific content type.
Translatable label.
Possibility to freely apply a template to all fields in the content type (excluding the embedded view).
I tried doing it via page layout (Panels) and simply adding node content fields and the view to my layout regions, but then I get another problem: I can't style my content fields without doing something that seems a bit over the top:
Currently I have about 20 different content fields in the content type that are wrapped in HTML and styled in my template file. I have a translated label for each of these in the template file. From what I can tell I'd have to add a template for each of the panes containing content fields to add my translated labels and HTML needed to style each field.
I'm not really fond of making 20 templates, 20 theme hook suggestions to get the templates to work and 20 regions in the panel layout just to get a view inserted in the content type.
Am I doing something terribly wrong here? Any suggestions?
You may want to try the Viewfield module or similar modules (search for "view field" or "view reference").
If you are doing something more complex like changing/filtering the view based on some value in your content type, then you may have to use Viewfield module in combination with something else that will help fill in the filter values.
I've never done something like this before so I'm not sure exactly what module combination would work but Rules or Computed Field come to mind as possible helpers.
You have to use "views node field" http://drupal.org/project/viewsnodefield, after installing this module you have to select the "Node content" in the display (like blocks, page). then click the add display. if you want to display the content like this page http://www.richtown.ae/?q=content/arabian-ranches then you have to download the views_galleriffic module and install it and choose the style option "Galleriffic Gallery". You can choose the content type by using the filter in the views.
That's it cheers
i implemented this in my website richtown.ae
if you still unclear please send me the email social#richtown.ae i will reply you & ready to help you we can share information
i am using this module in drupal 6.
I resorted to using the EVA module ( http://drupal.org/project/eva ).
In addition to Woodgnome's answer
Let's say you have a content type named 'Product'
You want to attach a view to it.
Here are the steps using the eva module :
On your view edit page :
Section Displays
+Add : Eva field
Section ENTITY CONTENT SETTINGS
Entity type:Node
Bundles:Product
That's it, going to a node product type will now display the view
I'm using this excellent method to attach an image gallery to a node using 'Views Attach' and 'Node Reference URL' modules (amongst others): http://www.lullabot.com/articles/photo-galleries-views-attach .
It's working fine. What I'm trying to do now is to create a page of teaser items that will have an attached single image version of the gallery.
After creating a new Views attachment for the image I can do this using a new page View that uses Row style = Node, and this works (the image is displayed). However this doesn't give me the fine grain options that using Row style = fields allows.
So is it actually possible to use Row style = fields with Views AND have another View attached to it? I thought there might have been a nice 'Attached view' field to choose... :)
Edit: I guess I can use a themed version of the node teaser to remove some of the node elements I don't want to show up (tags etc.). Will try that...
Cheers,
James
Just build out the views using rows. Then you can override the view template for that particular view (ex: views-view--yourviewname--block-1.tpl.php).
Within that template you can embed any of your other views
ex: <?php print views_embed_view('viewname','block_2')?>
You can do what Hunter Frazier suggests, or you can add his PHP snippet as a PHP field to the view settings. In this way, you don't need to create a template file because the view output is considered a field of the primary view.
