How Can I generate a static url a file in asp.net - asp.net

I would like to generate a static URL based on a few parameters.
The page serve the file for downloading is called CertificateDownload.aspx ,I am generating the download link in Report.aspx.These 2 files reside on the same physical folder.I do not like the replace method ,but I could not think of another way of doing it.
How can I improve my code or what is a better way of doing it.
I need the absolute url to be displayed as text in the web browser.
Dim downLoadUrl As String = HttpContext.Current.Request.Url.ToString.Replace("Report.aspx", "CertificateDownload.aspx") + "?CertificateID=" + CertificateName
HyperLinkDownloadLink.Visible = True
HyperLinkDownloadLink.Text = downLoadUrl
HyperLinkDownloadLink.NavigateUrl = downLoadUrl

You can do it cleanly with UriBuilder. Some people might say it's overkill, but it makes the intent of the code very clear and it's easier to program and maintain, and less error-prone.
var uriBuilder = new UriBuilder(HttpContext.Current.Request.Url);
uriBuilder.Path = Path.GetDirectoryName(uriBuilder.Path) + "/CertificateDownload.aspx";
uriBuilder.Query = "CertificateID=" + CertificateName;
var downloadUrl = uriBuilder.ToString();

What's wrong with using a relative url?
downLoadUrl = "CertificateDownload.aspx?CertificateID=" + CertificateName
Much simpler.

Request.MapPath(string.format("CertificateDownload.aspx?CertificateID={0}", CertificateName))

Xamarin - CachedImage - Access the downloaded file

I am using the CachedImage component of ffimageloading. I have a kind of gallery with a carousel view.
All the images are loaded through an internet URL, they are not local images. I would like to add the image sharing function. But I don't want to download the file again, I would like to know if there is a way to access the file that the CachedImage component already downloaded to be able to reuse it in the share function.
try using MD5Helper
var path = ImageService.Instance.Config.MD5Helper.MD5("https://yourfileUrlOrKey")'
Thanks Jason
I share with you how part of my code is:
var key = ImageService.Instance.Config.MD5Helper.MD5("https://yourfileUrlOrKey");
var imagePath = await ImageService.Instance.Config.DiskCache.GetFilePathAsync(key);
var tempFile = Path.Combine(Path.GetTempPath(), "test.jpg");
if (File.Exists(tempFile))
{
File.Delete(tempFile);
}
File.Copy(imagePath, tempFile);
await Share.RequestAsync(new ShareFileRequest
{
Title = "Test",
File = new ShareFile(tempFile)
});
The temporary file I believe, since the cached file has no extension and the applications do not recognize the type.

FileReference.upload non asynchronous?

I'm a bit of a flex noob, but I couldn't find this question asked anywhere, or a proper workaround. I'm quite used to GET/POST and web interactions, but I'm new to working in mxml's and such. See function below.
private function uploadFileSelect(event:Event):void
{
var uploadURL:String = Application.application.parameters.UploadURL;
var urlStr:String = ExternalInterface.call('window.location.href.toString');
var queryMap:Object = getQueryParams(urlStr);
var request:URLRequest = new URLRequest(uploadURL);
var urlVars:URLVariables = new URLVariables();
urlVars.appid = queryMap.appid;
urlVars.str = queryMap.str;
request.method = "POST";
request.data = urlVars;
uploadFileRef.upload(request);
}
Essentially, this works perfectly for what I need, with one exception. The final call to .upload is asynchronous, so I stay on the current page, but it calls the upload URL in the background. I want it to act like a form and actually navigate TO the upload URL with the POST data. I feel like this should be a simple solution, but I was kind of thrown the task of working on someone else's flash code and need a little advice.
Thanks in advance!
Because it is asynchronous, you cannot achieve redirect from the UI like you do in Html form. As a work around you can add listeners to the uploadFileRef
uploadURL = "someurl";
uploadFileRef.addEventListener(Event.complete, function(e:Event){
navigateToURL(new URLRequest(uploadURL),'_self')
});
navigate url will tke you to the target url. I do not know how you will get the uploadURL, i'm assuming it is the url at which you have uploaded the file to.

ASP.NET C# Handling an Image

Similar to one of my other questions, but I need clarification.
I have a web application where multiple users will be on at the same time. In the app, an image, which is in one of the app folders, will be drawn on like below, saved, and then added to the image control on the page.
Bitmap image = new Bitmap(Server.MapPath("~") + "/Assets/img/timegrid.jpg");
Graphics graphics = Graphics.FromImage(image);
Pen p = new Pen(Color.Blue, 5);
//draw on image
graphics.DrawLine(p, aPoint, bPoint);
//save new image
image.Save(Server.MapPath("~") + "/Assets/img/newtimegrid.jpg");
imgGrid.ImageUrl = "~/Assets/img/newtimegrid.jpg";
Each user's new image will look different. However, I'm worried that User A will see User B's newtimegrid.jpg instead of his own since every user is saving to the same filename. I've heard of using a generic Image Handler and I've read some of the solutions here, but I still don't understand how to use it, or how to call it if I made one, or if this is even a solution to my problem. Any help would be appreciated.
I would suggest you to keep userID in the session and use this id in the path to uniquely identifying the path of image for each user image path.
You can first check if path already exists for user.
string strDirPath = Server.MapPath("~") + "/Assets/img/ + Session["UserID"].ToString();
if(Directory.Exists(strDirPath))
{
Bitmap image = new Bitmap(strDirPath + "\\" + timegrid.jpg");
//your code here
}
else
{
DirectoryInfo CreateDirectory(strDirPath);
Bitmap image = new Bitmap(strDirPath + "\\" + timegrid.jpg");
//your code here
}

Get URL of current page from Flex 3?

How do I determine the URL of the current page from within Flex?
Let's be clear here.
1. If you want the URL of the loaded SWF file, then use one of these.
Inside your application:
this.url;
From anywhere else:
Application.application.url; // Flex 3
FlexGlobals.topLevelApplication.url; // Flex 4
If you are loading your SWF inside another SWF, then keep in mind that the code above will give different values. this.url will return the url of your SWF, where as Application.application.url will give the url of the parent/root SWF.
2. If you want to know the URL that is in the browser address bar, then use one of these.
BrowserManager method(Make sure you have the History.js included in your wrapper html for this to work):
var browser:IBrowserManager = BrowserManager.getInstance();
browser.init();
var browserUrl:String = browser.url; // full url in the browser
var baseUrl:String = browser.base; // the portion of the url before the "#"
var fragment:String = browser.fragment; // the portion of the url after the "#"
JavaScript method:
var browserUrl:String = ExternalInterface.call("eval", "window.location.href");
If you are parsing the url for parameters, don't forget about this useful function:
// parses a query string like "key=value&another=true" into an object
var params:Object = URLUtil.stringToObject(browserURL, "&");
From the Application:
var myUrl:String = Application.application.url;
I searched and came up with this url. I've honestly never used Flex, but it looks like the important part of that document is this:
private function showURLDetails(e:BrowserChangeEvent):void {
var url:String = browserManager.url;
baseURL = browserManager.base;
fragment = browserManager.fragment;
previousURL = e.lastURL;
fullURL = mx.utils.URLUtil.getFullURL(url, url);
port = mx.utils.URLUtil.getPort(url);
protocol = mx.utils.URLUtil.getProtocol(url);
serverName = mx.utils.URLUtil.getServerName(url);
isSecure = mx.utils.URLUtil.isHttpsURL(url);
}
Either way, good luck! :)
Using ExternalInterface (flash.external.ExternalInterface), you can execute Javascript in the browser.
Knowing this, you can call
ExternalInterface.call("window.location.href.toString");
to get the current URL (note that this will be the page url and not the .swf url).

Koen
From the Application, use: this.loaderInfo.loaderURL
to break it apart and use parts of it do:
var splitURL:Array = this.loaderInfo.loaderURL.split('/');
var baseURL:String = "http://"+splitURL[2];
I tried the e:BrowserChangeEvent version and inside my class it didnt or wasnt the appropriate moment for this event to work so in short it didn't work !
Using Application.application.loaderInfo.loaderURL is my preferred solution.
ExternalInterface.call("window.location.href.toString");

How do I convert a file path to a URL in ASP.NET

Basically I have some code to check a specific directory to see if an image is there and if so I want to assign a URL to the image to an ImageControl.
if (System.IO.Directory.Exists(photosLocation))
{
string[] files = System.IO.Directory.GetFiles(photosLocation, "*.jpg");
if (files.Length > 0)
{
// TODO: return the url of the first file found;
}
}
this is what i use:
private string MapURL(string path)
{
string appPath = Server.MapPath("/").ToLower();
return string.Format("/{0}", path.ToLower().Replace(appPath, "").Replace(#"\", "/"));
}
As far as I know, there's no method to do what you want; at least not directly. I'd store the photosLocation as a path relative to the application; for example: "~/Images/". This way, you could use MapPath to get the physical location, and ResolveUrl to get the URL (with a bit of help from System.IO.Path):
string photosLocationPath = HttpContext.Current.Server.MapPath(photosLocation);
if (Directory.Exists(photosLocationPath))
{
string[] files = Directory.GetFiles(photosLocationPath, "*.jpg");
if (files.Length > 0)
{
string filenameRelative = photosLocation + Path.GetFilename(files[0])
return Page.ResolveUrl(filenameRelative);
}
}
The problem with all these answers is that they do not take virtual directories into account.
Consider:
Site named "tempuri.com/" rooted at c:\domains\site
virtual directory "~/files" at c:\data\files
virtual directory "~/files/vip" at c:\data\VIPcust\files
So:
Server.MapPath("~/files/vip/readme.txt")
= "c:\data\VIPcust\files\readme.txt"
But there is no way to do this:
MagicResolve("c:\data\VIPcust\files\readme.txt")
= "http://tempuri.com/files/vip/readme.txt"
because there is no way to get a complete list of virtual directories.
I've accepted Fredriks answer as it appears to solve the problem with the least amount of effort however the Request object doesn't appear to conatin the ResolveUrl method.
This can be accessed through the Page object or an Image control object:
myImage.ImageUrl = Page.ResolveUrl(photoURL);
myImage.ImageUrl = myImage.ResolveUrl(photoURL);
An alternative, if you are using a static class as I am, is to use the VirtualPathUtility:
myImage.ImageUrl = VirtualPathUtility.ToAbsolute(photoURL);
This worked for me:
HttpContext.Current.Request.Url.GetLeftPart(UriPartial.Authority) + HttpRuntime.AppDomainAppVirtualPath + "ImageName";
Maybe this is not the best way, but it works.
// Here is your path
String p = photosLocation + "whatever.jpg";
// Here is the page address
String pa = Page.Request.Url.AbsoluteUri;
// Take the page name
String pn = Page.Request.Url.LocalPath;
// Here is the server address
String sa = pa.Replace(pn, "");
// Take the physical location of the page
String pl = Page.Request.PhysicalPath;
// Replace the backslash with slash in your path
pl = pl.Replace("\\", "/");
p = p.Replace("\\", "/");
// Root path
String rp = pl.Replace(pn, "");
// Take out same path
String final = p.Replace(rp, "");
// So your picture's address is
String path = sa + final;
Edit: Ok, somebody marked as not helpful. Some explanation: take the physical path of the current page, split it into two parts: server and directory (like c:\inetpub\whatever.com\whatever) and page name (like /Whatever.aspx). The image's physical path should contain the server's path, so "substract" them, leaving only the image's path relative to the server's (like: \design\picture.jpg). Replace the backslashes with slashes and append it to the server's url.
So far as I know there's no single function which does this (maybe you were looking for the inverse of MapPath?). I'd love to know if such a function exists. Until then, I would just take the filename(s) returned by GetFiles, remove the path, and prepend the URL root. This can be done generically.
The simple solution seems to be to have a temporary location within the website that you can access easily with URL and then you can move files to the physical location when you need to save them.
For get the left part of the URL:
?HttpContext.Current.Request.Url.GetLeftPart(UriPartial.Authority)
"http://localhost:1714"
For get the application (web) name:
?HttpRuntime.AppDomainAppVirtualPath
"/"
With this, you are available to add your relative path after that obtaining the complete URL.
I think this should work. It might be off on the slashes. Not sure if they are needed or not.
string url = Request.ApplicationPath + "/" + photosLocation + "/" + files[0];
