I have an InfoPath 2007 browser-enabled form that has a datasource with three columns, let's say columns A, B, and C. I have a dropdown that is keyed to column A and displays column B. Column C contains some data that I want to display in an expression box, and that I also want to use in some data validation against another field on the form. I'm looking for some help on how to reference that column C for displaying and use in validation. Thanks!
You can access it by drilling down in the Data Source. If you don't see it, maybe its not a compatible data type (i.e. Multiline text).

I have a form with an existing data source. This data source has a one to many relationship to another table that is not an existing data source. Even though this second table contains multiple records (one to many), the field in the table that I want is duplicated across all records. Therefore I want to add this second table as a data source, but only return one record from it.
If I add the second table directly, than my form contains a line for each record instead of just one.
This problem was solved by creating a view to use as the new datasource. This view defined a calculated column that was based on a method that contained a query string that used TOP 1. The details in much more detail are at Martin DrĂ¡b's blog: https://community.dynamics.com/ax/b/goshoom/archive/2015/06/29/join-first-line-in-ax-2012.
Use the property LinkType=ExistJoin on the datasource for your second table.
See the TransactionLog form for example.

Row Grouping
I am trying to create a report to match exactly as in attached file using RDLC, that has three levels of data:
Packing No
PO No
Item
Level 2 and 3 should come in a single column, to achive this I have tried using subreport:
Column Grouping - If more than one PO arrives, column is repeating horizontaly instead of extending vertically
Row Grouping - Two columns are created one for PO No, another for item details, instead on single column
Subreport inside subreport - Here first subreport have Packing No as Parameter, second subreport has Packing No & Po No as parameter, in this case first row of RDLC alone displays all data correctly, subsequent rows are not able to receive the parameter and it displays error.
I came close but not able to complete, any solution will be greatly helpful to me.
I think you are over-complicating things and don't need to place sub-report inside sub-report.
I can see that it might be needed to place (one column report with row grouping by PO#) sub-report into details cell of column 2 and pass package No to it as a parameters to filter data.
I am facing problem in passing a dummy column's value in URL of <asp:HyperLinkField>.
My first column in gridview contains value from <%#Container.DataItemIndex+1> which gridview is populating however on click on my 2nd column which is a hyperlink field i want to pass value from 1st columns generated by <%#Container.DataItemIndex+1>.
So the problem here i am facing is how to pass a value as querystring which is not getting populated from database however is available as column in gridview.
Thanks in advance,
Can you paste the code so i can detect the problem and tell you what to do. Cos one thing you need to understand is the gridview tend itemize cell as zero index. So if your intention is to get say the ID of a table to a linkfieldbutton, i will advice you to use LinkButton.
Assuming I understood your question:
Have you tried binding column 2 to the same field (DataField) column1 is so you can use the (same) data any way you want.
Alternatively, perhaps you can (already) use column1 for the same purpose (re: display and link)?
Hth....
A data provider is giving us dynamic report data in a SQL Server database table X. There is also a metadata table Y which holds the report count and the columns (as a semicolon separated string). In the report data table X, there is a text field which holds all the data, separated by semicolon. The provider is doing this to be dynamic, and I can't influence that choice.
I need to:
Load the metadata from Y
Load the data from X for a selected report from Y
Display the data in a table on a webpage
How would you go about reading this in the model/controller and displaying it in a webgrid/table? For models with fixed columns, this is simple, but what about when the columns are dynamic?
Current solution (feels dirty) is to parse the data into a DataTable and manually output rows and table cells in the view from this object. No use of WebGrid, MvcContrib Grid etc.
I chose to parse the table data into a specific dimensional model in my MVC application:
Base objects
Report
Column Definition
Data Row
Report has a list of column definitions and a row count integer. It also has a list of rows. Each row has a list of column values (cells), which is always treated as string in this code, and only displayed using the display data type from the column definition.
My data types defined are for example: text, date, number, link (many types of links to our CRM system, accountlink, userlink, orderlink). I add new data types only if I need to display them differently than the existing ones. I can imagine some day I need a chart data type (where the cell data is a list of plot points for example).
This makes the report definition very flexible, but I am probably sacrificing some performance and it is purely custom. I would still like input on this approach, but no responses in the last 6-7 months probably means this is a weird enough scenario that you, the reader, should avoid.
Does anyone know a way to have all the rows of one column of a repeating table to always have the same value?
Say the user changes the value in the first row for that column, then all the other cells in that column change to have the new value. (Preferably this will happen if a user changes any cell in the column, not just the one in the first row, but just the first row would be fine if that's all that's possible).
I have access to both InfoPath 2007 and InfoPath 2010 so can use either. The form submits data to and receives data from an SQL Server database. Code is fine if this requires it.
You basically want to change the field from a repeating field to just multiple copies of the same field (since you want it to always be the same there is no point in storing multiple versions).
On the data source tab, all the fields that you put in the repeating section are in a group folder with the little repeating icon on it. Right click on the field you want to be non repeating and choose move. Put it anywhere outside the repeating group folder (the encompassing folder is usually a good choice but it can be anywhere). The field on the design surface will now show a little info box that says "this item can't be repeated" (or similar).
Now you just have multiple copies of the same field - so if you change any one of them they will all update to reflect the value.
